Even if possible and you had the energy to get to 99.9999999999 % of C, the ships inverse tau would be so huge that the human race, the earth and solar system and possibly our entire galaxy would be long dead and gone, so what would be the point? If you subscribe to the ever expanding universe theory, there would not be much of anything left except darkness and dust. Depressing thought. I much prefer the warp concept, but the mechanics, technology and power requirements are all out of reach, sort of like the holy grail of sustained fusion reactors.
