This is the story of the Fairchild Eight, a group of eight brilliant young men led by 29-year-old Robert Noyce who defected from Shockley Semiconductor to pioneer the microchip, and in the process establish much of the exponential growth of what would become Silicon Valley.

From The Blog: http://www.atari.io/fairchild-eight/

It's an amazing story that's documented in PBS' American Experience documentary Silicon Valley, the first segment of which is on YouTube and shown below:

The documentary is currently streaming in its entirety on Netflix. If you've seen the documentary or are familiar with the story of the Fairchild Eight, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Students of Atari history will also recognize Fairchild Semiconductor as the company that beat Atari to the market with the Fairchild Channel-F.
