  1. I did mention this latest Squad Challenge during last night's show, so I hope a few viewers make their way here and join.

Join me at 3pm ET / 8pm GMT for the Episode 52 REPLAY of Retro With Marco! I will be in the Twitch chat providing commentary on last night's show. SPOILER ALERT! -- I'll be sure to point out the volume issue during the first Shoutout segment. (It was not my streaming software. It was the actual project file which changed the volume setting for no reason whatsoever! 😆) It was a fun show with several updates (including the latest Squad Challenge). I hope you take time out of your day to stop by: https://twitch.tv/retrowithmarco See you then!
  3. 535. I played on OpenEmu for Mac OS. The PB run begins at 19:34. 1st time playing this one & it's easy to see why it's so addictive. I'll try to get back to this later in the week.
  4. I will try to get in a few runs tonight as I'm preparing for my show which streams tomorrow night. I never owned an Odyssey 2 but it's hard to resist 40-year-old voice synthesis LOL!

We'll be back after the US holiday weekend for Episode 52 of Retro With Marco! Tune in to catch the following: - Scoring and speedrun shoutouts, including a new Zoo Keeper record which featured two incredible jumps! - Quick updates on La Calice Cup 4, the new Donkey Kong Twisted Jungle ROM hack tournament, and the Galaga Killscreen Challenge - How one gamer made $3000 in 90 seconds (Don't worry - it was all on the up and up) This episode may be one of the few that does not end six minutes early! https://twitch.tv/retrowithmarco See you then!
  6. 48100. Tonight was the only chance I had to submit a run. I hadn't played Joust in decades and it showed LOL. I was inspired by Dazzer's 10MM run on the Arcade version. It's the final run in the video which starts at 13:36. Thanks to @Atari Creepfor inadvertently reminding me that I still had OpenEmu installed; I had been using RetroArch but I've had trouble with it lately.
  7. I'm skipping this one as I never used the 7800 (but I do have a controller, so who knows lol). As an alternative, I did mention the Squad Challenge during my show tonight. So my hope is that a few gamers make their way over here and sign up!

I'll be in the Twitch chat providing additional commentary on what was a fun & breezy episode! Spoiler Alert: It ended early!

Tune in at 9pm ET for Episode 51 of Retro With Marco - Your Retrogaming Recap! I will have: Scoring and speedrun shoutouts, including two separate 1cc runs A quick look at Runn 'n' Gunn, a new platformer for the C64 MAME Gaming League (MGL) recap It's also Groundhog Day and we'll learn whether Phil saw his shadow, or if he'll be digging out of the East Coast blizzard. Here's a promo for Tuesday's show: https://twitch.tv/retrowithmarco See you then!
  10. 41925 A slight improvement but that will be it for me.
  11. 35675 I wanted to get one attempt before the deadline. I may give it another go tomorrow.
  12. The TG link I referenced previously has been updated with a new video showing two different Pole Position carts. @ZilchSrand I discussed it late last night. It's worth a quick look - it only runs 5 minutes and shows LightBlue attempting a record run with the other cart.
  13. I should have clarified that the 63,260 run was shared on TG, but not submitted. Nads learned of the video because he subscribes to LightBlue2222's YouTube channel. I apologize for any confusion in that regard. In addition, no one has called a LightBlue a cheater; he showed the cartridge and game system in the video so he didn't really hide anything. There's a TG thread with @ZilchSr, Scott Stilphen, and Nads. The belief is that the cartridge was hacked prior to purchase (I believe LightBlue stated he bought it off eBay for $5) or the 2600 system he used was hacked/modified. ZilchSr ran tests on a few different ROMs and posted here: https://www.twingalaxies.com/garrett-holland/wall/9000/atari-2600-pole-position-tas-and-analysis-fastest-time-possible-212-seconds It's an interesting confluence of events given the timing.
  14. I'll do my best to condense this post. I apologize in advance if this runs long. It was believed by many 2600 gamers that the score of 60,960 on Pole Position was improbable. Scott Stilphen of Atari Compendium noted there is a photo of such a run (by Jeff Adkins), and Twin Galaxies (TG) lists the 60,960 score by Frankie Cardulla on their leaderboard (but no photo or video). Last week, on January 11, 2021, GregDeg posted a run of 60,960 on Stella. You can view his record run here. It's the first such run recorded on digital video (to the best of my knowledge). If you view the comments, then you'll read a comment from "LightBlue2222" stating he surpassed 63,000. In fact, LightBlue2222 posted a score of 63,260 on January 19, 2021 (yesterday) and that entire run with commentary can be viewed here. I did a little online research and found this thread on AtariAge. The thread, which started in 2014, does feature a few downloadable hacks of Pole Position though most appear to be cosmetic in nature. (I do have to review the thread more thoroughly.) So, with all that said, does anyone here know if a score of 62,360 is possible? Or did LightBlue222 purchase a hacked cartridge? Any context is appreciated.

The replay will air at 8pm GMT for those across the pond. (That's 3pm ET) I'll be in the Twitch chat providing additional context on the show!
  16. Here's a :44 promo video for Episode 50 airing tomorrow night at 9pm ET! I'll have scoring & speedrun shoutouts along with a closer look at three new records: Donkey Kong (Arcade), Pole Position (Atari 2600) and Ms. Pac-Man (Atari 2600)!
  17. Retro With Marco will reach a milestone with Episode 50! The new episode will air on Tuesday, January 19 at 9pm ET! I will have some more scoring & speedrun shoutouts, but I will also highlight a few records in particular: John McCurdy's new Donkey Kong record of 1,272,700 Kermit73's new 2600 Ms. Pac-Man record, breaking the mark set back in 2000! GregDeg accomplishing a first for 2600 Pole Position I will also a few news and notes from around the gaming community. https://twitch.tv/retrowithmarco See you then!
  18. Lvl Up (pronounced Level Up) is a new scoring site from diverse gamers across several time zones and their desire to offer a fun, alternative score tracking site. The site has been up and running as of December 1, 2020. There’s a lot under development but we have a growing group of gamers who are contributing during their free time. The competition is fun and friendly, and most platforms are available for submissions. In addition, our Discord is open for gamers to meet, chat, and offer site suggestions. Disclaimer: I am one of the admins in addition to being a Patreon. It’s free and easy to sign up, and we will never ask you for any personal information as part of the sign-up process. Check it out, look around, join our Discord, and submit a score! https://lvlupscore.com

Happy New Year to all! Episode 49 of Retro With Marco will stream live on Twitch! There will be scoring and speedrun shoutouts, including a look at the run that broke the longest standing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe record. I will also take a look at the remake of Rescue on Fractalus (with a nod to @RickR who posted the video recently) and a look at a new C64 shooter from Sarah Jane Avory titled Soul Force!
