This works soooo good with the classic controller.  I'm impressed 

It is not all about getting the highest score but having fun trying to get a high score.
And yeah, Mockduck has a great channel.

It really does! With the short range and limited utility, its almost a power-down.  I try to avoid it at all costs.

I know we all try to get the top spot, but it's always been the Atari.io tradition to have fun with it.  Share tips.  Get better.  We can't all be #1, but we can certainly have a lot of fun.  I hope no one is ever discouraged from participating just because they don't think they can beat the top score! 

@Mockduck, your videos are a blessing to me (being a new VCS owner).  Very enjoyable and educational.

This is definitely one where practice  and patience pay off. I also recommend trying the challenges, as they help train you for certain situations.

I'm using a dual stick gamepad.  This game is super difficult, and at first I hated it.  However, after some practice, I got the hang of the movement and shooting and got better.  It's fun, but still really difficult.  I'll check out what it costs on VCS, but I may just hold out to buy the NEXT challenge game.  I'm not sure I'll come back to this one. 

I know you guys don't like the red ring power up, but I noticed it destroys the yellow eggs.  I say not bad.

I was busy over the weekend but managed to get in a few rrounds to barely bump my score.

Good question.
I just put them on a surface that grips to the rubber feet on the bottom of the joystick base. It is a foam pad that I am using.
I also put Thumb grips on the top of the joysticks too which helps.
The ones that fit dual analogs fit perfectly on the top of the joysticks.

Not high compared to others here, but my current high score.  I'm going to really sit down and get into a Centipede groove.  Hopefully I can make a run for that top spot. I did this with a trackball mouse.

I like Black Widow the least of all of the Recharged games, and this challenge reminds me why. It feels in some ways like an incomplete version of Black Widow Recharged, and it is missing some of the mechanics of the original that make a big difference and it makes the game less fun. In particular, I don't like their choice to make the center of the screen unable to be moved through; the arcade original lets you move through the center without issue and it keeps you from getting jammed up. I also miss the lack of warning on web segments; in the arcade they turn a color before they become walls, and it helps you judge where to be on the map. Finally, only a couple of powerups actually seem to be beneficial: The triple shot, the T shot, and the machine gun. 

Ok this is my first attempt in May for this challenge.
5090 points with Twin Classic Joysticks.
In the beginning of the video I show the Twin Stick Controls.
I will keep practicing and post higher scores throughout this challenge.
 

I got 7790 in April but will need to go for a new high score for this challenge in May.
Will be using this method of control because the only thing better than 1 Classic Joystick is 2 Classic Joysticks.
 

I watched your play through  Sabertooth.  And I noticed you also avoid the red ring of death. Man that power up sucks!!!

8,345 with a Modern controller.  My online score is slightly higher so I cleared my local data for this challenge. 
This game is so much fun but it is very challenging.  I find it to be the most difficult of the Recharged series.
