EthantheAtariFan Posted March 3, 2016 Report Posted March 3, 2016 I was trying to play some games on my Intellivsion console when I turned it on, the screen went black. When I bought It last year it said it works fine but maybe i need to clean it? Is there anyway I can clean it without risking to break it? Should I clean the games with a Q-tip and glass cleaner? If anything, please Reply when you have the time -thanks!
RickR Posted March 3, 2016 Report Posted March 3, 2016 You can try cleaning the cartridges with q-tips and alcohol. But do you get a black screen with every game you have? Or just a few?
EthantheAtariFan Posted March 3, 2016 Author Report Posted March 3, 2016 I get a black screen with every game actually...
Rowsdower70 Posted March 3, 2016 Report Posted March 3, 2016 You can also try cleaning the cartridge slot with alcohol and a q-tip, but it doesn't sound like its dirty contacts, to be honest. Are you sure its on the proper channel when you turn it on? When you turn it on does it go from static to a black screen, or is there no response at all? RickR Posted March 3, 2016 Report Posted March 3, 2016 Check for correct channel, or try a different rf adapter.
EthantheAtariFan Posted March 4, 2016 Author Report Posted March 4, 2016 Well, I checked the channel which is channel 3... Still black screens. When it's off it's just static snow, when it's on it goes black but if I reset it sometimes I do see some green screen but with no texts. It works for sure I think since it shows that. But i don't know, I really don't know...
RickR Posted March 4, 2016 Report Posted March 4, 2016 I'm sorry to say, but from what you describe, your INTV is most likely broken. It could be a variety of different things. Dirty cartridge slot, bad power switch, a bad chip on the board. I think your best best may be to buy a fully tested Intellivision. These things happen with machines that are 35 years old. Did you ever have it working? Or did you buy it and not test it until now?
