Last week I shared what is in my opinion is one of the greatest Super Mario Bros. videos on YouTube - next let's check out the incredible story of how The Legend of Zelda came into being and was designed simultaneously with Super Mario Bros. One project was to design an "Athletic" game that would involve running, jumping and collecting objects (which would become Super Mario Bros.) and another parallel project to design an "Exploration" game which would become The Legend of Zelda. This video is a wealth of knowledge, rich in substance, stories, archival photos and secrets! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
