  1. Armando Gonzalez has reclaimed the WR for Galaga (Tournament Settings) with a score of 9,525,700! The record run took place earlier in the week but I just learned about it earlier today. Gonzalez topped Mike Thompson's record of 6,679,190 set back in February.

  2. So after fighting a cold for over a week and finally getting healthy, my allergies attacked me. Woo and hoo.

I'm glad you are feeling better.  The cold/flu has been pretty brutal this year.

  3. While I have to get cracking on the next episode of Retro With Marco (I'm still aiming to chat with Hal Hawkins of the Retro World Series), I've started work on a future episode that will feature an upcoming Galaga tournament called Gala-Gala. This event will be held at Pincadia in Australia. My goal is talk to the co-owners of Pincadia along with a few of the talented Galaga gamers who will take part in the event. Some of these gamers will be flying from the US to compete with other top gamers from Australia and New Zealand.

Check out https://pincadia.com/galagala/ for more info!

  5. Meanwhile, on the Twitch show front, I will finally chat with Hal Hawkins of the Retro World Series later this week. We'll talk about the 3rd season and the upcoming event in Las Vegas, as well as the challenges of running a traveling tournament series.

The interview will air on the April 10 episode of Retro With Marco.

  6. Finally shaking off this stubborn cold that I've had for the better part of a week. I streamed some C64 Archon last night & it felt good to get through an hour w/o coughing & sneezing like crazy.

  7. I'm feeling much better after taking a sick day, and I've been working on the final touches for tomorrow night's episode. Here's what's on tap:

    • Find out who went from 1st to 4th in 3 days
    • History made twice in 2 days
    • Upcoming tournaments: Tecmo Bowl vs RBI Baseball, Retro World Series
    • Also, the latest Atari.io Squad Challenge

  8. Here's a quick preview slide for Episode 7 of Retro With Marco:

  9. I'm a little under the weather and have been laying low as a result. I'm hoping to be fully healed by Wednesday for Episode 7 of my show.

I was unable to connect with Retro World Series; just as well since I'm not sounding great. So Episode 7 will likely take a look at a few upcoming tournaments:

    • Retro World Series @ The Pourhouse on April 7 in Minneapolis
    • Tecmo Bowl vs RBI Baseball on March 30 in Omaha
    • Tecmo Players Championship II on April 6 in Chicago

There will also be some high score and speedrun shoutouts, including a look at...Championship Bowling?!

  10. Viewist looks back at the rise and fall of Epyx

It's interesting to learn who was involved throughout the company's history. Jon Freeman was part of FreeFall, which would go on to develop such titles as Archon.

As it was pointed out on the Reddit thread, two items that were not mentioned in the video were the 500XJ joystick and the Fast Load cartridge.

And yes, there is a tie-in with Atari.

  11. After learning that the Retro World Series added another event in Minneapolis for April 7, I reached out in hopes of landing an interview for Episode 7 which will air next Wednesday, March 27. I was unable to schedule an interview for my pilot episode, but with two events in April (the other set for Las Vegas on April 26-28), my hope is to secure an interview by no later than Monday so I could edit the segment in time for Wednesday.
