- Ω - Posted September 27, 2023 Report Posted September 27, 2023 It was my understanding that the Buran never flew with a Cosmonaut, only an unmanned test because (1) they never trusted it and then abandoned due (2) to lack of funds, mainly due to Ronald Reagan trapping them into spending tons of money on their military and to counter the fictional "Star Wars" program, which led to internal issues like a stagnating economy leading to civil unrest coupled with Gorbachev loosening the grip with restructuring and openness leading to them losing control about a year later when Boris Yeltsin terminated it after the fall of the Soviet Union. So if I were to assign blame, it was Ronald Reagan that did the program in. TrekMD and sramirez2008 2 Quote <<< My YouTube Page >>>

TrekMD Posted July 22, 2024 Report Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) @tbs123456, you may like this video... As for the Enterprise-E, I'm not a big fan fan of the design. Overall shape is fine but I don't like the underside of the saucer or the front-heavy engines. For me, this design (Legacy-class) is far sleeker and better looking... DegasElite Posted October 25, 2024 Report Posted October 25, 2024 My favorite spacecraft growing up was Skylab, The United States' first space station. It was launched in 1973, just before my older brother was born. It was an inspiration to me about how people could live in space for long periods of time in Earth orbit. I like the Enterprise-E (Sovereign class) from Star Trek, but I am quite fond of the Constitution class-refit Enterprise from the first Star Trek movie. They are magnificent starship designs, with an honorable mention to the Excelsior class starship. That one was pretty sleek in design. Thanks for letting me chime in. sramirez2008 1 Quote

DegasElite Posted October 25, 2024 Report Posted October 25, 2024 (edited) Space travel was a fascination for me when I was a little boy. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was young, inspired by "Star Trek." I became fascinated with animation instead, and that's one thing I have experimented with using computer applications, well, 2D animation anyway with some stop-motion stuff. DegasElite Posted October 26, 2024 Report Posted October 26, 2024 I was four years old when Skylab de-orbited. I would have been five later that year. I didn't find out more about it until I was around ten. I was in the third grade around then. I really wanted to understand more about that historic space station. It was fun. sramirez2008 1 Quote
TrekMD Posted October 26, 2024 Report Posted October 26, 2024 I remember Skylab and watching on TV as it entered into the atmosphere. Lots of people on TV talking about it! That was in 1979! sramirez2008 and DegasElite 2 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
