Just a bump.  The show is this coming Saturday.  I'm getting my updated spreadsheet of games on my phone.  I'm signed up for a "Balloon Fight" tournament.  I'll be looking for old handheld games, Atari games I don't have (good luck with that), and one of those tiny Sega Genesis ATGames things with the cartridge slot.  Looking forward to this show!

Do I see a TurboGrafx-16 running OutRun in the background?  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:   :outrun:

Indeed you do.  That TB16 had a multi-cart in it.  I wanted to contact you to help me pick what games to try.  I tried several and had a good time with it.

And just wanted to mention the "Balloon Fight" tournament was a lot of fun.  I made it through a few rounds, but ended up losing a close match to a nice and gracious fellow.  I skipped the Smash Bros tournament, knowing full well an old codger like me would get killed by all the kids there.

Very cool! I'm wondering if it was running the Turbo Everdrive with a bunch of games. TurboGrafx-16 is region locked (for HuCards) with the PC Engine, it's Japanese counterpart. PC Engine was quite popular and had a ton of games released in Japan that we never saw in America. OutRun was one of those games. It was a fantastic port of the arcade version, and other Sega games were ported as well, including Space Harrier, After Burner, and Fantasy Zone, unfortunately we never had those games in the US. The TurboGrafx-16 certainly would have benefitted from more great games. Using the Turbo Everdrive, you can load Japanese PC Engine ROMs and play them on your TurboGrafx-16 which opens a whole new world of incredible games that we never had at the time.

Well now I wish I'd taken a picture.  I was a little too busy playing.  Justin, I don't know squat about the TG16.  But let me describe what I saw....in the card slot, there was a bare PCB with chips and little green flashing lights.  When you turned the TB16 off, then on, it came up with a menu of ROMS.  First you choose A-M, N-R, S-Z, then from there a list of games.  And yes, it had both USA and Japanese ROMS.  So you must be right.

The free play area was done by a local computer club.  I will attend their next meeting and inquire more about it.

They also had a Lynx with a replaced screen that made me start drooling.  It was so freaking bright and nice looking.  Kind of spendy, though.  Same thing for the Game Gear.  Super bright and nice screen.  I think I need to save my money and get one (or both) of these.
