  1. I have mine ordered! Make sure you check your spam folder I waited 3 days thinking I didn't get a response, but video 61 responded extremely fast, it just went to my spam for some reason. So I accidentally waited 3 days I didn't have to which was completely my fault! Also those boxed lot deals are fantastic. You guys already beat eBay and then you give deals on top of that, it's just incredible. Video61 is the best kept secret for Atari collecting and I don't think it needs to be a secret! And as Vinnie said on the Atari 7800 Forever Podcast, now that AA is part of the mothership, Video61 is now the largest independent provider of Atari homebrew* around! Think about it. Best electronics doesn't deal in homebrew, and for as good as GoodDealGames is, they don't create anything or have much exclusive but Video61 does! Congratulations guys keep up the great work!
  2. I wish I felt better for it. Honestly yesterday (Saturday) was much worse for me. Losing my voice, sore throat, congestion, etc. But I look forward to doing the podcast for you guys and I'm glad Vinnie carried the show because I was not at 100%. I still had fun pitching in my thoughts and trying to not let the NyQuil take over lol I felt like it turned out pretty good. One thing I'm going to throw out there is that there will be a poll on my channel, but I'll put the word here too. Vinnie pitched the idea of renaming the podcast. He started atari7800forever.com 20 or more years ago as one of the only places on the internet to give reviews, articles, guides and more for the 7800. It's his legacy, and while crossbow and myself have contributed in the past and recently, Vinnie really deserves all the praise for the awesome website and creating the podcast. Vinnie told me he felt that since we cover VCS stuff, Atari news and basically everything else, that the Atari 7800 forever podcast name is no longer correct and is misleading. As in we don't just cover 7800 stuff. So my question to you guys is, do you think we should change the name? He suggested the Atari Network Podcast but maybe we could come up with something else? Let me know your thoughts here and I'll have a community poll on my YouTube channel later today or tomorrow morning. Oh and I will not be changing my channel name or personal moniker I promise. That was the one and only change to the Atari Network!
  3. So right now I don't have any av upgrade for my 5200. I bought a stock one that was untested for 60 bucks locally and got lucky with it working. So I just run the RF through my VCR and then run composite to my TV. Then that runs through an off brand retrotink and finally to a capture card. So it's going to VCR via RF, from VCR to TV via composite, then to generic retrotink which goes to the capture card via HDMI. My 7800 has an av mod that was done by somebody on eBay but it's been finicky in the signal for about the last 3 months. I really don't like the composite cord it's got like a 3.5 mm adapter that it has to use. My setup is... Umm it's functional lol
  4. Thank you! So if I get a lynx 2 are you able to do that for 150? Because that seems cheaper than what I initially seen and I could swing that easier I think.
  5. Hey guys, I've been busy building a backlog of videos for the holidays and I've been pretty successful but it hasn't left me with much time to browse the forums or engage too much. Sorry about that but I think we have some cool stuff coming up and some even cooler stuff that just released! Everything is becoming so expensive these days! I want one with the mod to let it output to televisions and monitors and man, I don't know if I can swing that anytime soon lol. I might get a stock one if I find a good deal and just record gameplay via emulation for the videos but that sort of feels wrong to me. But we'll figure it out eventually we always do! Thank you so much, I really wanted to just stimulate people to dig a little deeper and think more independently or at least find out what it was all really about. And honestly it made me dig deeper too after seeing some of the comments and thoughts. So a follow up might be in the future at some point! Great point, a video on some of the unsung heroes would be pretty cool, or the more ignored figures who influenced Atari. I wanted a big part of the channel to feature the creators and key community members so I think that's a fantastic point and something I could help shine a light on. Thanks for the great input and comments guys, your all fantastic! So I started my week of giving thanks to the Atari 5200 on Thanksgiving with my Five to Try series on the Atari 5200. My intentions was to start a series over the holidays that I could get out quickly and hopefully still have it be entertaining and help people discover some new games or give recommendations for people just entering a collection for a console. The series will continue over December with Five to Try Hidden Gems on the 7800 and Five to Try Atari 2600 Red Box Games. Keep an eye for those over the next few weeks, but lets get back to the 5200! So 3 days later, on Sunday our Thanksgiving series, giving thanks to the 5200 continued as I put out our first 5200 review on the channel for Gremlins. This was one of the games I used to drool over wishing it had come to the Atari 7800. But it remained a 5200 exclusive... that I can finally play! So I jumped right into it and I give my thoughts on whether or not its worth the high asking price on eBay. With so many great titles going for much less, is it worth spending 60-100 dollars on that single game? I don't know but I can tell you if it at least plays well! And now I have an extra surprise video releasing on Tuesday, 5 days after Thanksgiving and wrapping up our week of giving thanks to the 5200 (while everybody else gives thanks to the 2600+... maybe my timing wasn't great lol) as I do another review on my first 5200 homebrew game, Adventure 2! This one I had my eye on since before getting the console, and I'm excited to share some thoughts and a little fact with you guys as well. As a new owner of the 5200, I'm curious to find out if the homebrew scene is as fun to explore as the 7800 scene is. And I have a lot more cool games I want to explore from Video61 and GoodDealGames as well, so 5200 homebrew will hopefully be a big part of the channel this upcoming year. So check out the Adventure 2 review tomorrow, November 29th at 2pm Eastern Standard Time. Or whenever you want to watch it! Its a youtube video after all its not going anywhere. That wraps up our week of giving thanks to the 5200, I hope you guys enjoyed it. This Thursday I look as some Jaguar games that have been labeled as awful and give my thoughts if I agree or not, based on first impression! And then on Sunday, I review Atari Mania for the VCS 800, Switch, Steam and everything else, probably your toaster too! Tons more videos have been worked on and completed or close to it as I'll be away for most of the holiday and wont have time to work on videos, but their all set to auto upload. As long as I'm healthy and able I'll keep the 2 video a week promise! Ok guys, let me know what you think of the videos, what you want to see from the channel, and thank you all for the supports! Have happy and safe holidays if I don't hear from you anytime soon and remember to stay classy Atarians. And yes I robbed that from Ron Burgandy and I kind of like it lol
  6. Also I wanted to let everybody know that I am still the 7800 Pro Gamer on YouTube, that's my personal moniker. But the channel has changed to The Atari Network because I felt a bit limited. While almost all of you have been nothing but supportive, others didn't like me covering anything but 7800 since that's what the channel name implied. But I wanted to cover the new VCS, plug n plays, Atari news and even venture into other Atari consoles! And after talking to a few successful YouTubers, some of which tip 100,000 subscribers, I believe the right decision was to broaden the channel name just a bit. I won't ever cover things outside of Atari like sega or nintendo.... Well I have an April fools day idea but that's humorous... Hopefully! Anyway Atari is what I love and I wanted to explore in creating content beyond the 7800. I have a unique opportunity to give unbiased reviews and information on many other Atari consoles as I haven't experienced them yet to this point. But also still have it come from an Atari fan. But let's face it guys, if you subscribed to the channel for 7800 stuff then that's always going to be my go to content. I still want to revamp and finish the man vs 7800 series, and I have a ton of opinions and knowledge about 7800 stuff. You'll all get what you subscribed for and then some! The content can be considered 7800+ lol Thanks for all the support and I hope you continue to enjoy and watch the content!
  7. Well it's been a while since I updated the post and a lot of content has come out! The Atari Network acquired a few new consoles so now our coverage includes all of the following: Atari 2600 Video Computer System Atari 5200 SuperSystem Atari 7800 Prosystem Atari Jaguar 64 Bit Console Atari VCS 800 Plug in Plays (GameStation Pro, etc) And we aren't stopping there. It's taking a while to produce content on our new consoles but once they're established the Atari Network will acquire a Lynx and a form of the Atari 8 bit line. Being a network based around Atari, I think it's important to cover a bit of everything. But regardless of all that we've put out a video all about my acquisition of a "cheap" 5200. How hard is it to get a good quality 5200 under 100 dollars in 2023 and 2024? Well watch and find out! If you prefer reviews we got you covered. I have a bunch done and set to upload the rest of the month so you'll get to see 7800 Lava Lamps and 8 Tracks Theatre, 2600 Secret Quest and the 5200 version of Gremlins! One of them gets our lowest score ever, try to guess which! But check out the ones we've already done, such as tempest 2000, Midnight Mutants and Haunted House! And one of those got our first ever perfect score! And our Thursday Featured content keeps coming too! Check out what we've been featuring since the Halloween video! The Atari Gamestation Pro first impressions, and the Defense of Jack Tramiel! Great conversation in the Jack Tramiel comment section too! And this Thursday we have reviews of Atari commercials spanning all consoles and computers! I've been using a lot of commercial footage in my videos so I need to get it out of my system lol. Then on Thanksgiving we give thanks... For Atari of course! With our video on Atari Things to be Thankful for! Get stuffed on food and then fall asleep watching Atari Network. Then rewatch it again I can use the views lol. and remember guys if you feel your favorite console is being neglected then please be patient. We have plans for more VCS videos, Jaguar content and coverage on everything else atari! Head on down to the Atari Network for piping hot reviews, and savory features! Y'all come back now ya hear!
  8. So it's been a while since it came out, has anybody completed this game yet. I finished repairing the main hall, saved all the kids and beat the final boss and I loved playing the game but that ending is underwhelming. Does it get better if you collect everything? I honestly doubt it but I'm just curious if anybody else has completed the game, especially 100%...
  9. I'm not sure how I feel about berzerk but I am proud to see so many familiar names at the top of the score list. I wanted to get the top score but damn you guys are good lol I'm not sure if Berzerk is a good representation of the classic but it is a fun game. If I had to recommend it as a game then yeah it's fun and addictive. If you wanted me to recommend it as a berzerk game I honestly don't know yet. It doesn't really feel like Berzerk to me so far...
  10. We don't plan on stopping we're just getting started!
  11. Hey guys! So the Atari 7800 Halloween Game video came out on Thursday and I think it turned out very well! Doesn't seem to be a run away hit, but I think it conveys what I was hoping it would. Even if it isn't as grand as I envisioned lol. Check it out below! Also, this Sunday I have a review going up for Haunted House (2023) on the Atari VCS, and its the first video branded with the Atari Network intro. The next video will have a disclaimer over the intro and I hope that will keep Atari from making me change the name back, but we'll find out! With that said, we had to miss the podcast last night because I had some family obligations to take care of. So you can catch me and Vinnie on the Atari 7800 Forever Podcast tonight, October 21st at 7:30 PM Eastern Standard Time! We'll be talking about new Atari stuff including the Gamestation Pro, newly released VCS games, EXO and more! Check it out down below, even if you missed it live you can watch it on replay! I hope you all tune in and enjoy it. Remember, audience participation in the chat is always welcome but not required! Next Thursday I'll have my video on the gamestation entitled My Arcade Atari Gamestation Pro Overview and Thoughts! It goes over what you get in the box, what games are included on the console, how they play, what I think of the hardware, and how you can expand it along with limitations to the expansion! Be sure to check it out if your on the fence about the Atari Gamestation Pro! Then the sunday after that we have the final halloween review, which will be the winner of the poll from my channels community tab. So far it looks like Midnight Mutants will be getting the review, which will be the 3rd video I've done on that game since I started the channel! Good thing its a good game lol Be sure to check out all that and more on The Atari Network! Eat. Sleep. Atari!
  12. Hey guys as not to flood the forums I'm putting this here and on my YouTube channel thread. Special saturday podcast tonight at 7:30 EST! watch on the Big n Funky Productions YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@FunkmasterV or on The Atari Network!
  13. Ok so the channel has been rebranded to the Atari Network. Check out the channel trailer below. As stated by a few of you, I'm still going under the 7800 Pro Gamer name myself but the channel now has a broader name. Apparently I was informed after I already changed the name that Atari has been removing channels that use their name and logo. Does anybody know of any examples of this? It seems weird that they would force fan channels that just want to spread the word out of their channel but I understand them wanting to protect their brand. Either way this should be the one and only rebranding. Unless Atari themselves step in and force me to change it, if they do I'll go back to 7800 Pro Gamer. Alright don't forget the video tomorrow guys! And I have another review going up Sunday. These videos are much better than the last couple I feel.
  14. Well that's simple lol thank you! Now I need to get some graphics and intros made
  15. So I've been talking with people far more successful than me on YouTube and they seem to agree that rebranding to "The Atari Network" sounds more official and inclusive. Plus, surprisingly nobody is using it. The thing is, the 7800 will always be my love and focus, and a lot of fans like the 7800 Pro Gamer moniker. I'm on the fence about what to do, but again if I'm going to do anything now is the time. What do you guys think?
  16. I hope everybody had a relaxing weekend and you were able to accomplish everything you wanted to. Oh and of course played lots of Atari! YouTube burnout is real let me tell you, but I spent all weekend away from working on videos and I feel pretty motivated to get back to it. Here's what's being worked on and what I'm considering! I did a first impressions of Neo Sprint, it came out this morning. Unfortunately the dreaded zip code issue has come back for me on the VCS so coverage will slow I imagine. I have to rewrite the end of the VCS review script for the 3rd time because of it too. Halloween video will be out this week, I got my Atari Game station Pro so that should be out in time for its official release I hope, and I got an Atari Jaguar on Friday! So far I only have cybermorph, but iron Soldier, white men can't jump and ultra vortek are in the mail. I'm also in talks for a 5200 that I can record with. So I may get that sooner than later if I can produce some funds for it. With all this and my ability to cover Jaguar, flashbacks and eventually 5200 along with the VCS, 2600 and 7800, I'm thinking about rebranding the channel while it's still early. What do you guys think of either the Atari 7800 Pro Gamer, Atari Pro Gamer, Pro Atari Gamer or something along those lines? To be more inclusive of everything. I think it makes sense while I'm still early on but idk how much I like the name. Input is appreciated! Well more or less that's everything going on with the channel. Hope you guys are enjoying it!
  17. Hey guys, last Sunday I posted my Galaxian review for the Atari 7800. See if it's worth downloading and playing, or maybe even buying if it's ever released on cartridge again. The Thursday feature was just released too. So there currently fifteen Atari 7800 games available on the Atari VCS. So is it a worthy option for people just wanting to play these fantastic videogames? Well you'll have to watch it and find out! This Sunday I have a first impressions video for Neo Sprint. When I recorded it I was in the middle of a cold but I think it turned out fair enough. The following week I'll review the Atari 7800 homebrew Dragons Descent by the fantastic Revontuli! Don't miss either of those! I'll also have the My Arcade Atari Game Station Pro tomorrow. Next week will be the Atari 7800 Halloween Game video but probably following that will be my coverage of the Game station pro in time for its proper release. So keep an eye out for those as well. Ok guys as always thanks for the support and if you have any suggestions or comments please let me know!
  18. This magazine is incredible! Obviously a labor of love and a great throwback for lovers of Atari! Back to the days of flipping magazines to learn about new games, etc. I haven't read everything and I only just found out about it but I really enjoy it so far! I can't wait to finish reading it but thank you so much @Sabertooth and any other contributors for making something so cool.
  19. Hey guys, the new video went up earlier today about why we didn't see Atari's Coin Op division games on the Atari 7800 but they jumped through hoops to get them on the NES and other consoles. Its laser focused on the 7800 but there is some good discussion about the Atari ST and Lynx starting in the comments, so get engaged! Check the video out here: Also tomorrow night is the (bi)monthly podcast, or procast as I cleverly dubbed it! You can check it out below tomorrow, Friday October 6th at 7:30 PM EST! We will be discussing the Atari 2600+ and its compatibility with the Atari 7800 games and homebrews, along with what controllers we expect to see sold for it. Not to mention the possibility of a XP style line of games for the 7800 and other games they could release on cartridge. Also, we will talk about a few of Atari's other new products, like The Outlaw Special Edition and the new Berzerk cartridge they started selling on their store. We can also touch on anything you guys want to chat about so be sure to log in, watch and get engaged!
  20. Just a small update and some thoughts in general, but last night I streamed Midnight Mutants and it was a lot of fun. There about 8-9 people that are active in the chat and they talked about the game, old television, wrestling and of course, Atari in general. There was about 14 other people that cycled in and out but it was great fun. I really like that people are chatting with each other, maybe we can build a nice little community. Here's the replay of your so inclined... also, this Thursdays feature is being switched from my Final Thoughts on the Atari VCS or the Atari VCS Review to "Why Did Atari Coin Op Love the NES & Hate the 7800". Over that's a shorter video than I expected it to be but I wanted to keep it concise and to the point. I really want to dress it up though to make it an entertaining watch. I don't know when the VCS review will go out as I wanted to do the Halloween Special and Galaxian Review next week but it's good to have a video in my back pocket I guess. I'm shocked at how many videos I want to do on the 7800 and Atari in general. I have so many ideas and I haven't forgotten any. I still want to put out "A Definitive Guide to 7800 Controllers", "In Defense of Jack Tramiel and the 7800", "Recommended Reading for Atari Fans", "What's the Deal with Atari 2600 Red Box Games", "Comparing all NES and 7800 Multiplatform Games" and so many more. Not to mention reviews for Jinks, Delta Space Arena, Venture, Wizards Dungeon, Tank Command and more. Hopefully I get all these out eventually... As always thanks for the never ending support and ideas!
  21. Well I've been trying new things on the channel. Still being within the first 90 days I figure now is a great time to experiment. So I've done a couple live streams that went pretty ok I think. The live interactions was great but you can watch the replay here: After the Water Ski stream I played that one again and actually conquered it! And my God, after so many years of trying that ending was sure something. Maybe one of the greatest video game endings ever? At least on the 7800 right? It definitely wasn't disappointing and anticlimactic! I decided to just do some quick and dirty editing and post it as an extra video this week. I mean there isn't a lot to tell about the development and Froggo because so little is known of them. So here's a bonus Man vs 7800! Tomorrow I'll have a review of Yars Recharged for the Atari VCS and Thursday I should have my final thoughts, aka my review of the Atari VCS itself! I'm not sure what I'll do after Thursday so stay tuned as we fly by the seat of our pants! And as always thanks for the support guys! I never thought I'd find more than a hundred people that would care what I have to say. Being able to get 600 subscribers and talking Atari with you all has been a great boon to my experience with the hobby. Thank you!
  22. Well I posted my third review yesterday. Despite my love for Scrapyard Dog I did what I consider to be an objective review. Maybe I was too harsh on it? You'll have to let me know. This Thursday I'm posting a brief Overview of the Atari 7800 Flashback aka the only flashback with 7800 games. The end to that one might be a little silly but whatever. I guess I have to take risks. I'm feeling a little burnt out on videos after the marathon of getting two ranking videos out so hopefully I can get my mojo back for next week. Regardless stay tuned! It'll either be really good or so bad it's good lol
  23. So it took a long sleepless night to get it done in time, but the newest Thursday video is done! Looking back I should've went for the easier video and gave myself more time as the lower third cards aren't timed out properly, I missed some information on the keystone Koppers card and worst of all I called omega race Delta race... twice. And while I can blame some of the issues on having a laptop that's poorly suited for editing (when the editor is full of video elements it's near impossible to tweak anything) I could've done it by getting some rest and taking my time. Anyway, enough behind the scenes stuff, I had a lot of fun getting this video ready! I had to skip games like E.X.O because it doesn't work on Concerto, and I skipped a few of the ms Pac man hacks and stuff because I didn't want the video flooded with those types of games. But trust me when I say it'll all get covered... eventually! So even though it says "Every Homebrew Ranked" it should've honestly said "Every Homebrew That I Can Play on my Hardware and Isn't A Ton of Ms Pac Man Hacks or Still A Work In Progress Ranked Also I Still Might've Missed Some". One rolls off the tongue better than the other 😂😂😂 Anyway here it is guys! This week will be busy! We have the Podcast tomorrow at 7pm, I'll have a few Cheats and Easter Egg Shorts going up and I will have a yet another review this Monday! But Man Vs 7800s will be sprinkled back in soon! Ok guys I hope to see you all in the chat on the podcast!
  24. Hey guys! The Atari 7800 Forever Podcast is going on a regular schedule! You can watch the announcement video or just read it here! Same news regardless. We are now airing the first and third Fridays at 7pm EST of every month! That means the next one is Friday September 22nd at 7pm Eastern Standard Time! You can catch it on the 7800 Pro Gamer YouTube channel or the Big N Funky Productions YouTube Channel! We should have the developer of the fantastic Popeye Atari 7800 homebrew, Darry1970 aka Darryl Guenther on the podcast this friday! So don't miss me and Vinnie Vineyard getting the scoop of how one of the best ports came to be and what's coming next!
