  1. Karateka is done. And I'll probably never touch it again honestly... Maybe the apple ii version one day when...
  2. I should have the new video, a complete playthrough of Karateka up tomorrow. I want to polish up the voice overs a bit for you guys, talk clearer, etc. I already have the following video started but after that I have a few games we could look into. I finished up playing Bentley bears crystal quest complete with all warps and the entrance to world six. Seems that nobody has posted this info online that's easily accessible and I feel the games been out long enough that we can make it common knowledge. Or We can look into the Missing in Action prototype. While incomplete it is technically beatable and has an ending. But I took the easy route and played with invincibility on. I figured it was fine since the game is in an incomplete state. I plan on attempting to discover as much as I can about what happened to this unreleased gem behind the scenes. Or We can look at the two 7800 wrestling games, title match and mat mania. I planned on combining the two into a single episode since all I have to do is beat the CPU. Plan is to embarrass myself with some bad 80s wrestling impressions, way out of my comfort zone but you only live once. Might as well have some fun. Let me know what you guys want to see and let me know if you like knowing what's coming ahead of time via these forums or rather be surprised. I figured with all the knowledge on this forum you guys might drop some knowledge for the video that I might've missed.
  3. Wow between people giving them to me and doing some research I've managed to come up with more codes and Easter eggs for 6 games that wasn't in the first video. There will definitely be a part two in a few weeks
  4. I wish somebody would not only fix the gameplay but also fix the akuma sprite. He looked so cool in the apple ii version and they could've beefed him up for the 7800. Oh well...
  5. So umm, my first attempt at Karateka didn't go so hot... Take Two? Let me try this again...
  6. You have no idea... I did bring that up somewhere in the middle of the video but I didn't specify any area in particular. When I was looking for all the pow rooms I found a couple different places that I felt safe camping at myself. I found the maps here at atari7800.org/commandomap.htm I'll add it to the pinned comment on the video.
  7. Another bites the dust. This time we serve two tours of duty in Commando! While I've always personally preferred Ikari Warriors but this game is definitely an awesome inclusion in the 7800 library! So it'll be a few days before I put out anything else but I think it's time I master karate and become... A Karateka!
  8. Very true. It's definitely going in part 2.
  9. It seems I missed a cheat code for Commando of all games. So I added it to the end of the commando playthrough that should be uploaded to YouTube in a few hours. Nothing too crazy but for completion sake I'll add it here as well. Power on the console with Commando inserted and as it starts press down reset, select and pause on the console at the same time. Then release them. If you did it right at the end of the typewriter intro you should see a bit of flashing text! This text is the developer credit! There are also a few hidden POW tunnels that not many people know about. Again, I show off a couple at the end of the video that's uploading tonight. It's a good excuse to link the two videos in the comments if nothing else!
  10. I have a ton more I want to put out but some are more time consuming than I expected and others I realized are beyond current skill level to produce the way I want to. As I said before, I know the channel will never be big but I want to try and save the history of the console and give a place for people to discover it. I was always disappointed with the lack of 7800 content on YouTube. Thank God for people like No Swear Gamer that gave us some good stuff already. Anyway, hopefully your all enjoying my videos too!
  11. In my never ending goal of preserve everything Atari 7800, I've Made a video covering all the cheats I know for the console. Includes things like Credits for Asteroids and level select for little known homebrews and everything in-between I'd like to do a part two if you guys can think of any I skipped or didn't talk about! Credit will be given to anybody who contributes a secret, easter egg, or code if I ever do a second video!). As always let me know what you think! .
  12. Good topic. Not to echo what's already been said but a lot of the late 7800 games felt very NES like. Scrapyard Dog was clearly Ataris attempt at a platformer, and Alien Brigade was a good Operation Wolf style game. When it comes to feel I always thought Fatal Run felt like an NES game. A lot of people call Midnight Mutants the 7800 Zelda but MM never felt like that to me. As I type I can't think of a good reason why but Xevious always felt like an NES game to me. I know the NES had its own port but for some reason I've always felt that way.
  13. I don't see that as cheating at all. Maybe exploitative but it's not your fault how the game was coded. When it comes to arcade ports or ports in general on the 7800 I feel that the developers did a good job coding to the consoles strengths rather than trying to keep things 100% accurate. But most are fairly accurate too...most. Hopefully I'll have commando up in about two days time. It's getting to the point that I have so many of these recorded I'm just waiting on having enough time to research what I want to talk about and record the voice over. If there are any requests I may already have the footage and can prioritize it.
  14. Completed another one! This time in Kung Fu Master by Absolute. Check out the video below, it's a short one. So this go around we've finished Midnight Mutants, Tower Toppler, Double Dragon, Ninja Golf, Dragons Havoc and now Kung Fu Master. Up next... Commando!
  15. Absolutely it does! I'm so glad Darryl is releasing another 7800 game, his port of Popeye was awesome! Can't wait to pick this one up eventually!
  16. as I'm sure some of you know, I beat Dragons Havoc recently! Here is a video with just the gameplay. There's about three minutes of dragons cache in there too to enjoy! Thanks to revontuli and @Funkmaster V for their help with the voice over. People seem to really like the development facts so what better to do than have an actual developer on!?
  17. Hey that's me! Thanks for anchoring this @Funkmaster V and thank you to revontuli for agreeing to sit down and let us geek out over your games!
  18. The dragon "putting" is by far my favorite part. Ninja Golf seems to be one of those games that you either get it or don't. I'm glad I'm one of the people that "get it" lol
  19. Another game completed. This time I took down Ninja Golf. I was initially doing it on Kamikaze difficulty but I didn't think that was as much fun to watch. My strategy on that difficulty is basically to run from everything. So here is the game completed on normal. I also talk a bit about the two developers who did the game for Blue Sky. David Dentt has also done some interviews online and in books about his efforts on Ninja Golf.
  20. That's awesome! I never got that good at the game but I got decent enough to beat it. I'll have to try mastering the elbow smash. I like the back kick and then jump kick combo it's fun to do. Then again I have fun smashing rocks together so maybe it's just me lol I managed to trigger the green abobo one at a time once. I haven't been able to do it since but I should probably scroll the screen a little at a time and slowly to do that. Let me tell you I'm having a harder time now than all those years ago. And back then I was using the Proline rather than the awesome retrogameboyz controller! The fact that you know another strategy for this game goes to show that there can be variety in the 7800 Double Dragon. I don't think many people give it a chance because the other versions are more appealing on most levels. But I don't think the 7800 deserves all the hate it gets either. I have a video in the works comparing the NES and 7800 Double Dragons too! Thanks for the comments and taking interest!
  21. Took down another game for the 3rd episode of Man vs 7800! Hope you guys like it. I know I have to work on speaking clearer but Im learning a bit more with each video! And as always any feedback or criticism is appreciated! I also have some different videos in the works if you want to subscribe to me over on YouTube! Ok enough of that, here's the video:
  22. Thanks for the developer insight. I assume all your (and peters) games are assembly?
  23. Is there an end to this game by chance or does it go on forever? Just asking out of curiosity. This game is awesome!
  24. My experience is almost exactly like yours! I can't believe you were alone (in your experience) in testing. Still an excellent and fun port of the game but the slow down is a bummer sometimes
  25. Well here's the thing @CrossBow is I noticed it and I was playing on a crt. Maybe it depends what revision console you have?
