MaximumRD Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Scammers. Con artists. Such people have been a part of human existence ever since we invented money. Hell, probably since we started to talk. But I’m not here to debate the philosophy of “the con” or discuss its history. Today I’m here to inform our fellow gamers that, at times, there are still people out there who like to take advantage of others for a quick buck, or for a share of fame that they don’t deserve. It’s been happening for a while in retro gaming, in a variety of ways, but we’ll start with the Atari 2600 before we delve into some sinister examples from other collecting communities in other articles (there are sadly many we could discuss). Be informed and check out the article in the link HERE! http://metalarcade.net/2013/09/retro-atari-scammers-of-the-modern-era/ I am Rob aka MaximumRD aka OldSchoolRetroGamer and THIS is my world http://about.me/maximumrd "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. Justin Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Great post MaximumRD. One of our highest priorities is keeping scammers out of this community. Even those with sincere intentions to deliver a quality retrogaming product often make early announcements and begin accepting payment for pre-orders. Sometimes months, even years go by without delivery. This can lead to distrust and potentially a fractured community.
DeLorean Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Wow I didn't know Todd Rogers at Twin Galaxies was revealed to have submitted fraudulent scores. That's so disappointing.
