  10. Back in the double aughts, the 7800 community was happy to become foster parents to the wayfaring, troubled 2600 cart "Save Mary". This inspired many artist renditions, scribblings, and etchings of labels, some of which exist on the internet still to this day. Tonight, I compiled the surviving images in one article and I poke fun at most of them:

The Save Mary Box Art Gallery

In recent months, I have also updated the site with reviews of Save Mary, Xenophobe, Millipede, Robotron 2084, Froggie and more! Check it out.

FYI, the song described in Exhibit #6 of the Save Mary Box Art Gallery, "Money for Nothing," was by Dire Straits. I remember the video because it was the first fully-CG music video ever made. It was tops in the MTV Video Music Awards of that year, and I think it was 1985. I loved that song. Thanks for letting me share. :O)

  13. Edladdin's Super Twin 78 Joystick may not be new, but Funkmaster V decides to try it out on a brand new 7800 Homebrew that has had some minor control issues- Attack of the Petscii Robots. See how this twin stick controller also does with Robotron: 2084, T:ME Salvo, Commando, Basketbrawl, and Sirius! #twinstick #atari #atari7800

Edladdin’s Super Twin 78 has been on my wishlist for a while as I’m a big fan of twin stick shooters in general and Robotron is a top 2 or 3 game for me. In the mean time, I have a game pad made by Retro Game Boyz that sports two thumb sticks—not the same as using a dual joystick but better than most alternatives.

  14. Ever since I heard that Popeye was almost the "Jumpman" in what turned out to be Donkey Kong, I always had a little hot thought... What if...

Yup. I also love that graphic that I found that put the Popeye people on the cab instead of the Nintendo characters in the DK poses. Bluto looks like DK quite a bit, too.

  16. For those who are into emulation of retro games, Trebor (from Trebor's Stuff) just updated his Atari 7800 ROM Pack for the first time in about a year. There are dozens and dozens of games, gimmicks and updates to check out. Links to java based emulators, my thoughts on a few of the updates, and the link to the ROM Pack itself is located here:

  24. I just scored this from The 8 Bit Guy for defeating a few AotPR challenges over at Twin Galaxies. The 8 Bit guy has a bunch of stuff over on his site to dig on if you like this game. I'm now android swagged out with a keychain, a cassette, an album soundtrack and an autographed copy of the Atari 400/800 XE computer version! Pretty great haul! Thanks 8 Bit Fella! Check out the review of this very solid game at www.atari7800forever.com

Tonight Silverback and I talk jive about the upcoming 7 Atari Age releases, the Atari VCS, and Silverback trying to piss me off and steal my Tower Toppler world record. Should be fun.

  25. I'm off shooting goofy horror/comedies this weekend (except for Sunday), so I decided to catch up on the Atari 7800 Forever workload with some corrections and re-reviews from the old site. I hope you enjoy! When I get all of the original 57 (or 59) written I will start doing video reviews of all of these games.
