Another tip is "guiding" the robots into the line of fire. 🙂

I'm still trying. One last tip. The robots don't fire back on the first level. If there are only 5 enemies on the first level hit reset. You can get a quick 700 points instead of maybe 350.

This game is very difficult!! 😀

I saw Atari Age has a homebrew 2600 version with voice! might have to grab it. But, as Rick said, diagonal shots are just asking for it! Get the points early. The bonus points make a big difference. You get an extra life at 5k! keep going!!

Me too. The 2600 version controls better for sure.

I had a colecovision and a.few.games.but I don't think I had Frenzy. I'd join in for that one but I'd have to use emulation.
As much as I love the 5200 and appreciate Berserk. If it was all I had BITD I would have been happy. It's a well made game for the system. Personally I like the 2600 Berserk better. It doesn't feel as policed as the 5200 version. Hearing the speak without needing additional hardware is amazing and the speech is easy to understand.
So what is the highest score so far?

TIPS that work for me. Money back guarantee.
Don't bother with diagonal shots. They are impossible to line up and the robots don't have such issues. Initial moments of the level are critical. Look for a hiding spot and run there. Try to deal with one robot at a time. Use Evil Otto to wipe out any last robots. You can guide him right to them with appropriate moves. Multi-fire works! Why are you only shooting one bullet at a time? Lay down two and move.

Satan's Hollow is arcade perfect. Donkey Kong plays very fast.

@Atari 5200 Guy Today I was going through an old hard drive retrieving and archiving files. I came across the articles and content we had written in 2002 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Atari 5200 on this website. When I launched the new version of the site in 2014 that you're all familiar with now, I had originally intended to clean these articles up a bit and publish them on our 5200 page, but I was happy with the new content I had created. Today would be a good day to share these here. These were primarily penned by our Atari 5200 contributor George Reese in 2001 with contributions from Curt Vendel. I don't know where George is, but he was a really fantastic guy and a 5200 gamer to the core. Absolute wealth of knowledge. I haven't altered a word of these articles we first put them up 20+ years ago. There are three articles:
20 YEARS AND STILL GOING - THE ATARI 5200 SUPERSYSTEM ATARI 5200 BARROOM PROJECT ATARI 5200 POWER SUPPLIES - A BASIC GUIDELINE PDFs are attached below. I'm pasting the 20th Anniversary article into this post. Enjoy!

As much as I love the 5200 this game shows how much the 5200's analog controllers place a burden on it. Then again after 40 years the controllers I have are probably just worn out. I can't believe it has been 40 years since my first 5200. Happy birthday, 5200. Here's to another 40 years.

Looking at the scores I need more practice! I'll be posting a score on Wednesday, no matter how bad. Hopefully before the end of the month I'll show some improvement.

I almost feel the 2600 controller is giving me an advantage. I plan to try with the 5200 controller to compare.
