  1. I think I'm starting to get this game figured out. 198,400
  2. Finally broke 2000: 2378 Something I hadn't noticed before before is how the change in direction of the ball works. I had always assumed when the ball moved faster horizontally, it was because I had hit it on the very edge of the paddle. Instead, it happens automatically after you hit the ball the first 8 times with a new paddle, and resumes normal movement after another 8 hits. The arcade game seems to work the same way. Kind of disappointing, honestly. The player really doesn't have that much control over the ball. Still, I remember playing a DOS clone of Breakout where you had no control of the ball's direction at all, so it's better than that, at least!
  3. Score: 1401 It's been ages since I played a game with paddles. I had to clean up my paddles, too. I never really noticed how the game scores before, but you definitely get more points for having multiple balls bouncing at once.
  4. 17,600 It's a bitter pill to swallow, but I see I may not be able to win this one.
  5. Wow, I'm impressed by you guys! I haven't even reached the fourth maze. I've been just trying to maximize my score on earlier levels because I can't get that far. (I got so close last time, though!)
  6. 75,610! Almost certainly my best score ever on this game! I didn't notice any control delay issues to speak of. Here is the controller I am using. It's not perfect, but it is very clicky, so I know when I should actually be changing direction. Maybe that helps? Or maybe I'm just not as observant as you guys!
  7. Gyruss Nintendo Entertainment System Difficulty: Control A High Score: 395,250 April 5, 2020
  8. It's a great movie, isn't it? I first saw it when I was maybe 5, and I only remembered fragments until I saw it again many years later. Some of the best animation I've seen. I don't know if they did something special with the VHS, but the soundtrack in particular came across really well. That's so cool that you had a CED player! I wasn't even familiar with CEDs until a few years ago, but I find it a really interesting technology.
  9. Pac-Man Tomytronic Handheld Difficulty: Pro High Score: 1,270 April 3, 2020 Happy National Pac-Man Day!
  10. They are from the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce series from the 30s and 40s (targeted for adults). I actually had "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" on DVD already, but I totally forgot until I started watching it. For one of the later films in the series, "The House of Fear" was pretty good! There was one other tape in the series I thought I bought not in the photo, but I think it turned out to have "Destination Tokyo" inside the case instead. Also, that reminds me, I picked up "The Great Mouse Detective", too. That one is targeted for kids. I hadn't seen it before, but I enjoyed that one too.
  11. My workplace was getting rid of that TV last year (until recently they still did training videos on VHS), so they let me have it before they threw it away. I had a CRT TV already, but no VCR. (Also, this one has composite input.) I picked up a bunch of VHS tapes at thrift stores. (They are so cheap now!) Here are some of them. I still need to watch a few of these... I certainly have the time right now.
  12. 63,370 If all else fails, there's always National K.C. Munchkin Day. There IS one, right?
  13. Did anyone ever play "Clue: The Great Museum Caper"? That game was indeed great! They ought to re-release that one.
  14. I remember taking a trip to Portland because my dad had some kind of business meeting in the downtown area, and my brother and I walked over to the local Radio Shack, and they had that video playing. I remember seeing that very clip! I kept watching, hoping it would repeat so I could that one with the bird and fish again, but the video was longer than expected. That one really stuck with me.
  15. WINNER: RadioPoultry Ms. Pac-Man Atari 7800 March 27, 2020 ROUND 1: @RadioPoultry ROUND 2: @Justin ROUND 3: @RadioPoultry It took us a little while to find a game we both had available, but we settled on Ms. Pac-Man, which might be my favorite game for the 7800. The top score of the battle was 55,310 on the final round. Thank you Justin, let's do this again soon! And if anyone else would like to challenge me to a game, just send me a message!
  16. Anyways, here's the last score I got with my copy from AtariAge: 1488
  17. I downloaded the version I used from AtariAge because I was having trouble getting the ROM file as well. I didn't really think about there being different versions. Hopefully mine is the same, but I can try getting the file from here again some other way.
  18. To answer your question, it seems to be set to beginner by default. I definitely started as the tiniest fish.
  19. Score 937 I like the inertia when you move around, and how the music changes if you get far enough.
  20. 2'07"59 I'm using the purple vehicle and saving my boosts for when I get to the rough. Avoid the jumps!
  21. 2'18"54 It's been a year since I played this. I forgot how good the controls are!
