RickR got a reaction from socrates63 in Living large, living fancy 😄 Finally, after sitting in several boxes in the foyer sin
I went through a lot of iterations to get here.  When the pandemic first started and I didn't know how long it would be, I was just using the laptop screen.  Once I knew it wasn't going to be over quick, I went to one monitor, and I was upstairs on a big desk the kids used to use for homework.  Then when the kids came back home, I had to squeeze onto the desk you see above.  My job involves reviewing a lot of data, so I quickly moved to two monitors.  The laptop is hidden on the right/rear corner of the desk.  Those two screens are probably too small, but they fit on the desk and were very inexpensive.  If I decide to work from home full time, I'll probably get one very large monitor and move back upstairs.
That big printer has been a godsend.  Mostly for my wife, she uses it for work a lot.  Upgrading that printer was a smart move.  And the router as well.  We were having a lot of trouble with 4 people working from home until I upgraded that too.  A bluetooth headset is another "must-have".

When you stop and think....boy we sure went through a LOT over the last 18 months.  From health, to stress, to things like this -- adjusting to working from home.  But we survived.  That's what's important.

Multiple monitors 👍 I'll see how working with just the laptop display works out. I might get a monitor later.
Hybrid model sounds like a good compromise. Before the pandemic, I was probably working from home one day a week consistently since all my guys were in NYC. My current gig is permanent remote.

Here's my home-office setup to share/compare.  Now that my state has lifted restrictions, I have to decide whether to go back to an office or not.  For the moment, I think I'm going to choose a hybrid setup.

    You made it through!
I'm guessing that's just a minor complication and you'll be fine.  Now the secret is to stop looking in the mirror and don't think about it.

I'm sorry, man.  Seems perfectly normal to feel as you do.  Aging is just a series of one indignity after another, isn't it?

Don't worry too much, I'm sure all will be well.  And hopefully you'll be able to see better after it's done.
Good luck!  I'll be sending good vibes your way.

Thanks so much, I avoided Googling as you know that tends to bring the most horrific results to the top BUT I am glad I did as the articles I read seem to indicate a painless procedure for the most part, a topical applied to the eyelid for freezing so the draining is painless. From what I read their can be minor bleeding due to eye structure so most of the annoyance or discomfort is after the procedure and the healing process but I can deal with that, normal recovery type stuff I am fine with, considering all I have gone through with my eyes the last several months that is the least I am worried about but I am relieved some about the initial procedure now. I will be glad when it is over with.

I haven't watched any movies yet and have stuck to watching to the classic channels. Today, I watched Love Boat for the first time since the 80s.
As part of my onboarding, I watched some presentations and a couple mentioned that the ad load was the number one complaint from users -- 5 minutes of ads for 10 minutes of content. For someone like me who grew up with over the air free broadcast TV, this feels very natural. Broadcast TV shows also had 10 minutes of ads with 20 minutes of content for a 30 minute show.
For the younger folks, like my kids who grew up with no ad interruptions, I can see how it can be noticeably bothersome. I still remember the first time my kids watched broadcast TV. They were very perturbed at the interruption caused by ads--hey, who changed the video!?! 😂

I have a plan formulated to move garage stuff up into the attic and my collection into the garage.  It will take some time, and that's a lot of carrying/stairs.  But it's a plan.  And I already have a pile of garage stuff to ditch.

@RickR - it's available on multiple platforms: VCS, Windows, iOS, Android, Xbox One...
The version the VCS is optimized for that platform and contains some additional Atari content.

I've been having fun watching shows I watched as a kid during the 80s -- Family Ties, Beverly Hillbillies, Lucy Show, Facts of Life... I've been steeped in nostalgia the past week.

I've ordered two or three times from both Best and V61. I never knew about getting banned from Best 😆. I always followed the instructions and things went smoothly.
My last purchase had a minor hiccup because of a comment I made on the phone. Since he didn't take paypal, I called in to give him my credit card number. Well, I mistakenly called during non-business hours, and naturally, no one answered. I got a hold of Bradley on a later call and made the mistake of mentioning that I had called once previously and no one picked up. He seemed slightly annoyed 😄
Lance, on the other hand, has been much more cordial and easier to buy from 😄

Cool, you grabbed Michael T's bundle 👍 The price was great, and I was tempted because of some of the movies in the bundle, but I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of UMD movie collecting. I already have my hands full with blu-ray, DVD etc.
PSP really was an entertainment powerhouse, but for whatever reason, Sony handhelds never remotely come near the success of Nintendo handhelds.

Great article.  I love BEST.  I do feel that twinge to "be careful" when I do order, but actually speaking to Bradley is always a pleasant experience for me.

They released a ton of them!  It's kind of cool because they are never terribly expensive, and the quality is very good (even if you use a composite cable from the PSP to a TV).

Thanks, Harry.  I know I've asked before, but is there a model of Switch I should avoid?  I think you said to avoid the cheaper model that does not have the detachable joy-slidey things, as they tend to break after a year.
