  1. Same here, I'm saving this thread in my bookmarks.
  2. I'll have to find that one again.
  3. I like it, I really really do! How big is it?
  4. You guys are dangerous, look what you made me do! ... It's supposed to arrive today, we'll see.
  5. Have a link? What are they made out of? Nevermind, FOUND ONE
  6. Yes, I have that ability and to read upside down as well.
  7. Shift838 (Chris) got me thinking what kind of HD interface would I be interested in. Well, it would be one that uses modern components and be relatively cheap. I looked online and found a disk drive with an insane amount of space (for a TI anyway), of 2TB and a USB-C connector for only $60.00 << HERE >>. The problems with this approach would be many, the required logic to interface a pre-formatted modern HD with an interpreter the TI could understand and interface with. The TI itself is limited to only so many files per directory, so the interpreter program would also have to be incharge of keeping the rules on the TI side, buffering the program and then writing it... kind of how the TIPI does things to it's SD card. So why would you want this capability if you have a TIPI? Well, relative permanence for one and the ability to simply unplug it from the PC and plug it into the TI for another. In my old age I'm getting rather lazy, so downloading and organizing everything on the PC would be wonderful thing.
  8. Did you know it's still possible to get slot cars sets? Some of them are really cheap like << THIS ONE >> from Amazon. There is also another from a better know company at twice the price << HERE >>. Actually if you just << CLICK HERE >> you can see quite an assortment of possibilities. One this is certain, this last one seems << HERE >> seems way overpriced for what you get.
  9. Oh wow, that brings back memories! I remember having an Aurora AFX race track as a kid. One of the things I did with mine was to get the HO scale train track crossing for it. It was kind of fun racing my brother because we had to slow down or stop when the train went by, otherwise the train would knock you off the track.
  10. I always thought it would be cool if a non gaming cartridge was made for the 5200 as sort of another toy to play with. I dunno exactly what that cartridge would be, but all sorts of things come to mind of what it "could be". The fact that the 5200 is not exactly on the radar of most people except a very few of us sort or precludes that ever happening though.
  11. I came across << THIS >> on Amazon. It immediately pressed my "nostalgia button" and reminded me of all the fun I had as a kid. Sadly, since I've downsized in my later years, I no longer have the room "to play" with one.
  12. This is a link to a fascinating article I came across. It's about the man who invented video gaming, and it may not be who you think it was or what a life he led. << CLICK FOR ARTICLE >>
  13. THAT, my friend will NEVER happen. I occasionally splurge on stuff now and then, but that price reminds me of the old P.T. Barnum saying... and I'm not that sucker.
  14. That is 100% fact and truer words were never spoken.
  15. Not exactly a "pickup" today, more of a "printup"....
  16. It was my understanding that the Buran never flew with a Cosmonaut, only an unmanned test because (1) they never trusted it and then abandoned due (2) to lack of funds, mainly due to Ronald Reagan trapping them into spending tons of money on their military and to counter the fictional "Star Wars" program, which led to internal issues like a stagnating economy leading to civil unrest coupled with Gorbachev loosening the grip with restructuring and openness leading to them losing control about a year later when Boris Yeltsin terminated it after the fall of the Soviet Union. So if I were to assign blame, it was Ronald Reagan that did the program in.
  17. I'm not sure my arthritic old fingers could get used to a keyboard that is not straight.
  18. If I was going to get an Atari, I'd have to go with the 1200 just for the sheer sexiness of the console.
  19. Before other floppy drive emulators were available for the TI and before the TIPI era, many of us used the Lotharek HxC Floppy Drive Emulator exclusively. I stumbled upon the site again (while clearing out some links) the other day and it appears it may be cheaper than before. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but it didn't "feel" this inexpensive at the time. Does anyone one else remember what the price was way, way back, in something like 2015?
  20. Good to know. Do you want to part with your working spare unit for $350.00? <ducking and running for cover>
  21. I'll have to look into an emulator for now, although I would not be too broken up about it someone volunteered information on which one is preferred by users here. Emulators are dangerous, I remember downloading a TI emulator over 11 years ago, and it led me down a deep rabbit hole. 🤪
  22. Yep, nothing is better than the original viewed in the standard 4:3 format... with an F18A.
