  1. I totally understand and can relate to the mindset. If I had no past history with one, I wouldn't bother making it a priority either. In your case @Atari 5200 Guy, I'd simply go with emulation. That way you could check out 95% of the stuff out there for free and then keep what you want. If you do decide to go with emulation, I recommend Classic 99. One word of warning though, it was about 8 years ago that I tried Tursi's emulator, and it sucked me in like a whirlpool. I'm still trapped!
  2. Truer words have never been spoken.
  3. I know not everyone has a P-Box, or even wants a TIPI, but I was surprised to see a brand new one for sale on Ebay << HERE >>
  4. If you guys want to see what some of the games for the TI-99/4A are like before you decide to download them this link: http://tigameshelf.net/ is pretty darn cool!
  5. No I was simply commenting on not firing up the O2 and eventually getting rid of it due to lack of games. Limited time and space affects my reality.
  6. Sorry to say this, but... not by me. I worked on that gargantuan list over a period of years, and am now I'm investing most of my free time trying to get this section up and self sustaining. Also, this website does not currently allow the .ZIP extension or files over 9.77MB in a single message, so that would kind nix that. Now, if you know of a site that would host a .ZIP file in perpetuity and allow the file to be constantly updated with newer versions or new files, that would be awesome. It sound like a cool project for a retired person with lots of time on their hands.
  7. @Airshack Now that you have your P-Box TIPI installed, make a DIS/VAR 80 (text file) in the TIPI root directory with the following information and tell me what you think. TIPIBEEPS BAR ON PROMPT=\c\p \g PATH=TIPI.LOADERS.;TIPI.FC.;TIPI.APPS. XMOD=XB28GEMG XBADDR=32325 ECHO ECHO Omit the text in RED if you don't use GEM 2.8 as your Extended BASIC.
  8. I like it! @Airshack, but could I offer one suggestion? If you post your images at https://imgur.com/ and link them here, they will not be automatically reduced in visual quality.
  9. Yeah, I felt the same way about my Odyssey2 I only had three games for it, so was never really inspired to use it. One more cartridge though could give you access to HUNDREDS of games.
  10. Jump starting an alternative requires a team effort...

  11. Sorry, I could not help myself... one more today. ... now I'll give someone else a chance. Sorry for hogging things.
  12. I don't think one was enough to kick off this new thread, so... how about two more? 🙂
  13. I thought a neat little storage place for TI related cartoons, graphics and photos, basically all sorts of TI-99/4A related artwork would be cool to have. Feel free to share what you have and copy what you don't. I'll start it off...

Well, it's like this.. the name of this place is Atari.io right? That being the case, it only makes sense to post a 3D picture of an Atari setup, right?

... and of course the last four are hosted-off site! Thanks for the input guys.
  16. Some of you TI'ers may still run 3.5" drives, but Texas Instruments only made sleeves for 5.25" floppies. Sadly the TI was commercially extinct when 3.5" drives started to dominate. So, what is a guy supposed to do when he wants some nostalgia and love for his 3.5" mechanical storage device? It's simple really, make your own and share it with the world! The attached PDF file below is sized perfectly for the smaller disks, just print it up, cut it out, fold it and glue it. TI-Sleeve (Three and a Half).pdf
  17. @CrossBow since you have a FinalGROM without a 32K expansion, I'll start this list of with one of my all time favorites that was ported over to the TI in 2018. It's called "Borzork" it's a spot-on reproduction of Berzerk. It's one of those games that stay in my rotation list. I like it so much, I made a dedicated cartridge for it! It's killer with speech. I dunno why I'm getting Deja Vu posting this, I hope I didn't upload this a week ago or something, but with age comes a feeble memory so.... borzorkc.bin
  18. @RickR You are exactly right, there are many games that can be played without 32K, and a few surprising ones. Since @CrossBow has a FinalGROM, the list is even longer.
  19. As promised, the video of my call in to Heatwave BBS using Classic 99! NOTE: I wanted to upload the program, but the BBS would not accept the .ZIP extension or the program extension. Any ideas?
  20. The new version of Classic 99 is has a new feature that's has not yet widely been circulated. You emulation users should << CLICK HERE >> to get the latest version of Classic 99! Why? Well, because if you run his new version, you can actually call the BBS's through Classic 99! I did a rather hasty screen grab but, wow, I'm blown away now you can view Heatwave BBS the way it was meant to be seen on a real TI! I'll be posting the short video soon so stay tuned.
