I'll kickstart this thread with a video made by the "Immortal John Hancock" of Fest West 2017 for the TI-99/4A!

Back in the day I had a TRS-80. While it would be "kinda nice" to have one one again, I simply do not have the room, let alone the will to spend Ebait prices on an old beat up piece equipment that would in all probability need to be restored. In this case EMULATION IS WHERE IT'S AT... for me. A while back I dedicated an unused RPi 3B+ as a TRS-80 emulator. I then created some badging, added some stickers to the keyboard to remind me of which keys do what on a PC keyboard and now use it for a few quick games... "now and then". From power on to completely booted, ten seconds! If only my PC could do that. This is what the whole things looks like... Here's the closeup of the entire "computer" (RPi) with the Radio Shack badging.. Below is a closeup of the keyboard... Below are a few examples of TRS-80 games..

I'd gladly sign up for a one way trip... PROVIDED most of the stuff I routinely get on the Internet was copied, sent and stored on a server orbiting Mars. That way when I go to read my Atari.io mail, or other stuff it would "feel" like real time. On messages and email it's not instant anyway so there would be little difference. It would not be an easy life, but in the lower gravity an older gent would feel quite spry!

There is a saying I've always been fond of... The more the merrier! I feel that way about TI-99/4A related sites. They all seem have different personalities and focuses. As this one is just starts out, people joining can decide where it all goes and leads. It's a unique opportunity that does not come around every day. I've only salted the area with "starter threads", it's up to everyone else to decide where it all leads. Maybe YOU can be the guru of your specialty and be a leader in the TI community! Sadly there is another saying I'm not partial to and that is... You can lead horse to water but you can't make him drink. In life that can lead to another even less liked saying... Use it or lose it. I hope this is not all...

<< This >> seems like a reasonable deal on a TI-99/4A Extended BASIC book and quick reference manual. If I didn't already have one, I'd buy one! Of course you can get the Extended BASIC for free and stick it in a FinalGROM, so it's a 👍 in my book! (pardon the pun)

Hey, thanks @CrossBow that was an informative video. I really like the mic, but I just cannot justify it at the moment. I've cheated in the past and have recorded audio separately and resynched in editing after the fact. Too bad it's being discontinued.

Over the years, many people have made YouTube videos on the TI-99/4A, some good, some great, and others... well... Now if you are reading this, you've probably watched a YouTube video on the TI-99/4A at some point in time. Has there been a video that was outstanding, educational and has held up to the test of time? If so, PLEASE link it/them here!

Yep, it's an extra key someone attached to the TI. I cannot remember what it's for though.

Interesting, I'll have to consider something like that second Bluetooth microphone for my Canon T7i as it has an input for a microphone as well. Sadly my Sony Camcorder has no mic input and I'm not too fond of it's audio at a distance. I'm using the new mic strictly on my computer though and I'm happy with it and it works well with the Logitech webcam.

<< THIS MICROPHONE >> I recently got from Amazon surprised the heck out of me. It sounds great (as good as microphones costing much more), but it also came with every accessory I'll ever need. I figured I share my good fortune on getting a good one... CHEAP in case any of you feel like it's time to upgrade as well. Honestly though, I've since take off that big round screen as I've found that if you use the foam cover on the mic itself it's not necessary.
