Sabertooth Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 Is anyone else here following the AVS by retroUSB? The standard console is going on pre-sale Monday at $185. It's an HDMI Famiclone that accepts NES and Famicom carts. Instead of emulating software, it uses a FGPA core to replicate hardware. The styling is on point and it's fully compatible with all existing software and flash carts.http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/05/retrousbs_hdmi_nes_the_avs_is_heading_for_a_summer_release
The Professor Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 I think I'll get one of these. I don't mind the expense if it's a good product. I wish the new Nintendo NES Mini was a hybrid with the AVS. Best of both worlds?
StormSurge Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 It looks awesome, just a little out of my price range.
Rowsdower70 Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 I can't justify it when I have the Retro-Trio. It plays SNES, NES, Genesis, Fami, and Super Fami. "For you - Rowsdower from the 70 - have been appointed Omnivisioner of the Game Grid." ~ Atari Adventure Square
Sabertooth Posted August 10, 2016 Author Report Posted August 10, 2016 For those that are interested, pre-orders are currently being accepted at www.retrousb.com. Who knows, maybe this will be my first unboxing video?
Sabertooth Posted August 23, 2016 Author Report Posted August 23, 2016 The early reviews are trickling in and very favorable. Color me pumped.
Sabertooth Posted September 10, 2016 Author Report Posted September 10, 2016 Just got my shipping notification!!!!
Sabertooth Posted September 26, 2016 Author Report Posted September 26, 2016 So this is a thing. I received my AVS last week while out of town. When I got back I didn't have a chance to test it because of work. I'm going to spend some time playing it this week and give a report back on my impressions. So far I'm having a lot of fun and it looks terrific.
