Wiishop Closure Announced

Nintendo has released a statement that the Wiishop will be closing in spring, 2019.
Wiipoints can be added to purchase games until March, 2018.

If there are any WiiWare or Virtual Console games you guys still want to download, best do it sooner, rather than later.

Really makes me wonder how retro gaming will work for some of the newer systems without physical media.

And companies wonder why people still cling to physical media... I don't expect these services to be around forever, but on the other hand they need to maintain a way for people to download content that they already paid for, or provide a way to backup/restore that content if the console fails, etc.

This is also why I prefer to get physical media when possible.
