    hi,

looks like a zellers release. but zellers bought them from the Taiwan knock off companies. i got sent a lot of zellers stuff from atari, after they had the canadian customs seize them. that box is almost identical to zellers boxes.

Thanks for clearing this up @Video 61! I had a feeling these were the ones 😀

@lucca777 Jack Tramiel, Commodore founder who acquired Atari from Warner Communications in 1984:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Tramiel

@lucca777 These were counterfeit items, which were often seized at ports of entry into the United States, and then sent to the person or company that owned the rights to that item to dispose of. (Which was Atari in many cases of counterfeit video games during that time.) Jack Tramiel chose not to destroy the counterfeit games but to send them to official Atari distributors including Lance at @Video 61. I had never heard this story until @Video 61 shared this with me fairly recently.

    hi guys,

that is a knock off from Taiwan. jack seized them at the ports every time he could. then he sent them off to me. you have a very collectable one there. i did not see many of those come through my place.

This is probably my favorite game specifically for the Atari XE! Although it may take a back seat to Rescue on Fractalus. Great game! I need to get it booted up and play it a bit to refresh my memory and then I could be of more help!

    hi Justin,

i remember when we discussed when atari shelved gato for the 7800, were customers ever pissed. the 7800 was getting a good rep for simulators. the sims on 8-bit machines required some imagination.

the 16k ones like jumbo jet pilot, and submarine commander were spartan, but once you got past the dots in the games, they were quite enjoyable. the microprose sims, and the S.S.I. sims were the best on the 8-bit. but there were others to.

ace of aces is a very good sim/action game. to bad mine are all gone but one for the XEGS.

    hi everyone,

we are putting up a batch of customer returns we purchased out of atari decades ago. these were returned to atari for various reasons by retailers. many times they are still new, or opened boxes, but complete. many are still shrink wrapped, but the boxes are poor, that is why many of the games were returned to atari, poor boxes, which made the games unsellable.

we have perhaps thousands of these atari games left in our warehouse. but the boxes were sent to us not sorted, atari just threw them in shipping boxes and sent them. so we are not sure of how many titles of these we have, or their numbers.

so we have no time to sort these boxes out, we will just put up batches for sale. so we will not mix or match or look for certain titles, because we have no time, and i feel the price is right for this batch.

there are titles for Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, and Atari 400 / 800/ XL / XE. there maybe lynx and jaguar ones also in the future!

there will be no warranty on these.

this batch will be $99.95 and includes free shipping if you live in the u.s.a.

this is not an auction, and we are not negotiable on the price, its firm and fair.

to inquire or purchase please include where you live, and email us with your order at video61@atarisales.com, or video61atarisales@gmail.com

What does that label say on Asteroids?

    hi atari 5200 guy,

not sure on the label, might be from atari's mexico division. that division was a mess for sure. nether atari or i could get back what ended up lost. it was like dealing with organized crime.

That Ninja Gaiden looks like it had a steamroller on it.  Poor thing. What's amazing is if these were packaged with great care then how did they get that damaged? I mean I understand things shift and it is painfully obvious something heavy was on it.  This is not a bad set either.

    hi 5200 guy,

the lynx boxes were really just air, easy to get crushed. that title is actually quite rare. surprised no one has taken it.

If there are some in there, they still won't work as time itself is enough to cause oxidation on the contacts of the mylar and breakdown the graphite of the carbon pads. In fact I'd argue that NOT using the controllers on a routine basis might be worse than using them all the time because of that.

    hi crossbow,

that is correct. its like parking a car and leaving the battery in it. come back a few years later, lift the hood and stare at the corrosion on the battery cables.

  13. hi everyone,

i put this in history, because it sorta is. these boxes are a sample of what i received from atari decades ago, at least three plus decades, and i have hundreds such boxes. and we are just getting to them now. you will notice third party software in there. atari explained to me that retailers just looked at the games, as atari games, even if atari did not manufacture them. so they sent most returns to atari, even the ones atari never made.

i asked why didn't atari just send them off to their original manufacturers? atari explained to me it would cost more than the games were worth, so the third parties told atari to do what you will with them. i bought it all. there are thousands and thousands of these games.
