Objective
Play for the highest possible score using the difficulty settings defined in the challenge. Post a photo or YouTube video of your score in this thread. Scores must be achieved between June 15th through June 30th, 2022. Screen captures are not allowed as they are more easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. The player with the highest score at the end of the competition is the victor!

Play Rules
Games may be played on real hardware, Flashback / Mini console, or emulation, using any controller or keyboard, following all rules and game settings defined in the challenge. Choosing between real hardware or emulation, and choosing which controller to play on is part of formulating your strategy. Enhancements, rewinds and hacked versions of this game are not allowed.
 
Difficulty Level
We are playing Space Invaders using the default settings of Game 1 with Difficulty Switches set to B. This provides for the default level of gameplay, including smaller cannons that are more difficult to hit.
 
Fair Play
Your integrity is everything. Players should play fairly, be honest, and have fun! Falsified scores will result in your immediate removal from the site. It goes without saying that we will not allow cheats, hacks, cartridge frying, enhancements, rewinds, deceitful photo manipulation, subterfuge, or any other unfair advantage. Everybody hates a cheater.

Welcome to our 126th Squad Challenge, the first Squad Challenge for this year's Pizza Party Summer! Atari I/O Summer Pizza Party is now PIZZA PARTY SUMMER and runs from June 15th through July 31st! For this Squad Challenge we're playing possibly the definitive classic game for the Atari 2600: Space Invaders! We're playing on the default settings that everybody knows and loves, so pop your Space Invaders cartridge into your 2600, set difficulty switches to B and you're good to go! This Squad Challenge will run through June 30th, 2022. ROM and Instruction Manual are provided below. Good luck!!

Might as well make it a full summer of Zelda playing when you have time.  I plan on it.  Zelda is too good of a game to simply pass up.  Lots of good memories with that game.  This is the game that made me a little more social.

I didn't finish in time, but I have every intention of finishing.  I may skip the next one Earthbound just so I can finish this.

Starting now!

I'm making very slow progress.  I'm still in the gathering stage.  I've gotten two heart upgrades and a bunch of secret rupees.  What's next?  Is it the white sword?  I'm at C12.  I may need a guide for this next part if memory serves. 
I'm trying to find more time, but my mom is having some very serious health issues that I'm dealing with.  Sorry everyone for my slowness. 

The 6th was the most difficult for sure!
 

I got stuck on the sixth dungeon.  I will be coming after Gannon soon.  

Coming for you Gannon. Hopefully on Wednesday.
 

I plan on spending time on this over the weekend.  Blasted work!  Always demanding more time :)

Calling it a night. Level 5 tomorrow!

Day 2 on my NES. Heading to level 3 now. Took the time to gather heart containers, rupees, master sword, and every other item obtainable. I am using walkthroughs for the best pattern for getting these things.

Think I'll stream this tonight. Loves me some Zelda! 

The two features I wish the NES classic mini had...WiFi capabilities and streaming capabilities.  That way I would be able to share what I'm doing.  And, honestly, I never cared for the second Zelda very much.  I much preferred the first one more.

Fifth dungeon complete.  On to the next one...if I can remember where it was.

I got it!!! I got the Master Sword!

There are lots of areas in the Overworld and in the dungeons you can bomb holes in.  If you go to H11 and bomb to the left of the path going north you should find a cave where you can grab a heart container.
I just completed the Fourth dungeon and I managed to collect a few more heart containers. I don't remember how many I need but I have 12 now so I'm now heading to the cemetery to try to get the master sword.

I made it to that G15 cave to buy bombs.  Slow progress.  I'm finding this more difficult than I remember.  Once I lose the shooting sword, I have a harder time defeating the creatures.  Maybe the controls on this emulator aren't great, but most likely old age. 
What's next?  Isn't there a secret cave you expose with a bomb?  Or is it those statues that move that I'm looking for?

Third dungeon now complete.  Why does it seem easier to get around than before?  I'm having fun...I just don't remember it being this easy.

I was able to grab this before going to the second dungeon.  I wish I would have known how easy it was to grab the blue ring and the other sword when I played this game for the first time.

Oh yeah, it's to buy bombs.  Don't go in the dungeon without bombs.
