I got my shipping notification yesterday from Atari. But according to FedEx it is still just a label notification and FedEx doesn't have it in hand yet. So likely they will get it today and start it on its journey.
I know of the limitations and understood that before buying it. But I feel that the only way Atari will provide something better in the future, is if this initial 2600+ gets a strong showing in support from the community. And we don't know what updates in the future might allow.
The fact that it has now been confirmed to work with the DragonFly is also quite nice since that means more home brew 7800 games can be made to work if they just update the lookup checksum tables in the 2600+ so it knows how to setup the emulation to allow for more games to work.

💯 agree. I changed my mind and ordered one after initially thinking/stating that this wasn’t for me.
DF working is another plus for the 2600+ right out the gate. It’s also nice to see the pics of the new 7800 Gamepad controller. I really like the new CX40+ and have to believe that I’ll like this one too.

@sramirez2008 I did see the pics that were posted on the new 7800 gamepad controller. I'm sure I will order at least one when they are available for purchase.

I am NOT a fan of the new trend of shipping things WITHOUT the ability to power them.

I’m guessing I’ll have to wait a while for them to catch up to my order number then. Assuming they’re shipping by order number. Who knows.

I wonder if the games are coming now too.  Berzerk Enhanced and Mr Run & Jump.  I haven't gotten any update.
Come to think of it, I'm still waiting on the AtariAge cartridges too.

My carts and Atari 2600+ are scheduled to arrive on Monday.
In terms of Mr. Run & Jump, this is the $29 version manufactured by Plaion. I ordered it separately because I already preordered the XP cart and was on the fence. The XP line is handled by a different manufacturer, so who knows when the Ltd Edition will ship.

Great news.👍 I already knew about the new CX78+, but did not know about the extension cables and 4 future carts. It's really nice to see Atari make the CX40+ and CX78+ controllers. Its even better to see in print that more games, for both consoles are forthcoming.

100% agree.  I wasn't expecting this, but I hope it turns out to be true.  I've seen the bigger model at the Smithsonian (before the most current refurb) and it is one of those things that is astounding to see in person.  Seeing them together would be even better.
Last night on H&I, they had the episode titled "Requiem for Methuselah", a season 3 episode that is the very last episode that used this 3ft model on screen.  I stopped dinner prep to watch that part of the episode very closely, just because it was so interesting to see the model in its prime.

It does look like it needs some minor corrections and refurbishment, but it's actually in quite good condition. I am impressed.

An update from Rod Roddenberry on Facebook.  I'll copy/paste the text here:

Hello friends. To cut to the chase, people have been asking me about the 3-foot Enterprise model for the past few weeks... I've prepared a formal statement, as it's difficult to respond to everyone individually. Feel free to share, as well as the documents attached, and the link to the Roddenberry Archives and our efforts for preservation, at the end of the statement.
    Onward! ~ Rod
"Along with much of the Star Trek community, I was excited and pleased to learn that the original 3-foot filming model of the Starship Enterprise appears to have been discovered after being missing for decades (pending full authentication). I can confirm that I am now, through an intermediary, in contact with the individual who possesses the model.
This prototype played a key role in the visualizing design of the famous television starship during Star Trek’s early development in 1964. Once the show went into production, the model was actually filmed in numerous visual effects shots seen throughout the life of the original Star Trek series, along with a larger, 12-foot model that is currently displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. I am convinced that this prototype model holds immense significance for Star Trek and its 58-year history. From its creation in the mid-60s until about 1977, the model was in the possession of my father, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Unfortunately, it went missing after being loaned out during the production of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Beyond its physical value, the greater significance is this prototype Enterprise model really represents the underpinning ideas my father imbued into the series. That we are clever, resilient and can learn from our mistakes. We can and will move beyond archaic belief systems. And once we truly embrace the infinite diversity all around us, both in form and idea, we will then take those next step into a prosperous and unlimited future.
Guided by this principle, one of my primary goals over the past decade has been to locate, recover, and digitally archive significant Star Trek materials and artifacts through the Roddenberry Archive project. The intention would be to scan it in the finest detail for the Roddenberry Archives and after rigorous scrutiny make it available to the public. Furthermore, I firmly believe that a piece of such importance should not be confined to any private collection. This iconic artifact should be enshrined along side the 12-foot shooting model at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, where it can serve to help tell the story of television history, the history of space exploration and ultimately, a beacon of hope for the future.”
