Please keep your eye on whichever parent whose father he was.  Trust me, the most common response is to try to hide your feelings and "be strong" when an elderly parent dies.  But it does not work.  Give them room, listen, and just be there if you can.  The aftermath of responsibility is very difficult.

And you.  I know you were close to your grandfather.  So please take good care of yourself.

My sympathies to your entire family.  I'll be thinking and praying for you, Harry.

You got it @DegasElite. I want to make sure people understand this is a community, we're all here for the conversation. In the context of starting a thread to promote a Member's YouTube videos or Podcast, we encourage that! We have forums here set up for that very reason, we encourage our Members to create their very own dedicated thread and share their new videos and Podcasts to it in series. If a Member has a website, a new project or game they want to promote, we encourage that too! It needs to be conversational though. Atari I/O is not the place to post a teaser with a link elsewhere, or only show up to promote your own wares. It's got to be conversational.
Here's an I/O ProTip: Think of the Forums as a holiday party. You've been invited over, there are Snacks and hors d'oeuvres being served, everybody is in the spirit of things and having a great time. You walk up to everyone and say "Here's 10 Reasons Why Atari 5200 Sucked Hard" and give a link to your video. That's clickbait-y and hucksterish. Instead, when creating a new thread, be sure to start a real conversation. It's great to share links to your stuff! We encourage that! We support everybody who helps make sure this hobby continues on. But you have to include substantive content in your new topics, not just clickbait links or sales pitches.

You know, that makes sense. I think it's nice to converse with others. I'll be sociable, then. Thanks, Justin, for the reminder. :O)

I'm of the thought that it would have been much, much cooler had they re-released the original Game and Watch Super Mario Brothers handheld. I have plenty of ways to play SMB on the go. At first I figured Nintendo was kind of phoning it in and releasing another Famiclone (and I still kind of do), but they seem to have added that usual Nintendo polish. I still think that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a waste of money if you already own the original games, though.
@RickR, I agree with you that the original Super Mario Brothers is a masterpiece. Sure, Nintendo references this game a lot and it gets a lot of attention. It seems like every new Super Mario adventure is littered with 8-bit Mario sprites and World 1-1 recreations. However, if you play the game on an original NES with a real controller on an old-school CRT television, it's an amazing and refreshing experience. Emulation just doesn't do this game justice. I've used a great many NES emulators in my day; Switch Online, Wii Virtual Console, 3DS VC, NESDS, FCEUltraGX, et cetera. Nothing really captures the experience for this game in particular. I have yet to find a Nintendo emulator with the same amazing bass that the real hardware has.
I very much enjoy Super Mario Brothers, and would even argue that it's a better game than the often-acclaimed Super Mario Brothers 3.

From what I know, it's like the Harmony cartridge but for the Intellivision. It lets you play rom files, so you can play homebrews and store the entire official Intellivision library on a single cartridge. I hear the Intellivision homebrew scene is quite vibrant. I missed out on the early batches and ordered this. Hopefully it'll come in 4-6 weeks.

Haha good points Rick, and I agree! I get the collectability in this but I hope some owners unbox it and have fun, it looks really neat

Thank you for the kind words.

I feel like a lot of collectors are going to keep this thing in the original box anyway, which makes the kickstand even more pointless.  I do get that it's a feature missing that the original G&W had, but to me it's of no concern.  Hey, I'm also glad they skipped the LCD screen from the original design too!

Wonderful little review in your status update @RickR! Describing Super Mario Bros. as a "masterpiece" is just perfect. I'm glad to see they did a nice job with this. It's everything I would've wanted back then! Loved your final thought on the "no kickstand" comments. Some classic gamers feel like they have to always have a snarky comment or something to criticize or they're not getting their name out there or having something to say. Sometimes it's okay to just love something for what it is.

Glad you’re looking forward to it. I call myself an Atari fan, yet for nearly a year I haven’t owned some of these for my system!
Maybe I should get a Harmony cart someday.

Awesome -- looking forward to seeing what you've added to your collection.
I'll also encourage you to save up and buy a Harmony cart for the 2600 or Concerto for the 7800 so you can play homebrew rom files.

No, not Phantasy Star. I tried PS 2 and 3 on Genesis and didn’t much care for them.
This game is Final Fantasy Legend, on Game Boy. It’s really interesting, straightforward, not too cryptic, and has some mechanics that go well with my playstyle.

I’m looking forward to 2084. I’ll be 79 years old then. I’ll be sitting in my backyard patio, looking at the birds at the feeders and my domestic geese and chickens doing their things. By that time, I would probably have an Odyssey 2 and a Channel F, and hopefully a Crystal Castles cabinet. I’d just be sitting outside, enjoying the nice weather with a cup of Breakfast Blend coffee and a plate of plums and honeydew melon when BOOM! One of those annoying brainy guys beams me in the backside. Ouch.

If only the space program continued on pace, we would have left Earth for the safety(?) of space back in 1999.
