  1. I've been horsing around and mostly enjoying Micro Center's Atari Ultimate Dual Fight Stick with Trac Ball for a year and a half, and have had an Atari Spinner installed for a year (it was very easy to do). After all that time, I have discovered (for myself at least) which 10 games utilize the machine the best with the emulators I currently have. This is my top ten list- They are not the best games of all time, but the best on this particular hardware... that I have discovered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UwkSg8Rkqc

  2. I've been sick- so I'm behind on reviews- but today I am making a comeback! Today we look at infamous retro game reviewer, John Hancock's, new 7800 puzzle game: Block 'Em Sock 'Em. This port is on the Atari VCS 800 at a good price point- albeit with disappointing concessions. This game has been ported to the Atari Jaguar, SNES, and originated on the Sega Genesis. #puzzle #retro #atari #atari2600 #atari7800 #atarivcs

  3. In a year that features around 15 amazing 7800 Homebrews hitting the scene, leave it to Atari 7800 Forever to review a tandem of 12 year old games of ill repute. Everyone has an opinion about the man that made these games... now there's some ink about the carts themselves.

  4. In recent years, I've seen that there has been some confusion and real life tears in regards to Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest. It all stems from Bobby D astutely inventing a "C Button" for the Pro System. Here's how to fix the confusion with the game in the modern age where people use emulation more than consoles.

This review is spot-on. Looks like a fun time, but hard to compete with Splatoon, etc. Atari to me is about 2-D gaming and I would love a "Food Fight: RECHARGED" if they released one. The characters and gameplay seem cute, and they seem invested in the World of Atari. Worst aspect in my opinion is Atari's continuing down the path of turning Bentley Bear into a nasty grump with a chip on his shoulder - seems totally out of character and doesn't work at all for a mascot :crystal_castles: Where's "Crystal Castles: RECHARGED"? Enjoyed your review @Funkmaster V, hope you have a wonderful Christmas and an awesome New Year.

  7. It's Halloween, yo... and Silverback just wrote an article taking a look at the Halloween-style titles available on the Atari 7800. Give it a whirl, there's more than you think. Its for your entertainment, yo.

  9. Ive been making our second horror/comedy movie this last month in the Smoky Mountain Chronicles series, and this weekend I have off, so I wanted to do a bunch of Atari 7800 articles that I have back logged for www.Atari7800Forever.com before I get busy for the next month while we finish it.

I already posted about this featurette about Muddyfunsters games, but its worth a second mention. Plus there's a graphic from one of his games with my name on it, so I wanted to brag:

I reviewed Space Duel after playing the arcade version and the 7800 version for an hour on break this week

I look into getting into the backstory about that mysterious Atari Championship title belt I was gifted last month. I was given a wrestling belt years ago, and it ended up being very valuable. Can lightning strike twice?

Muddyfunster's work on Tyre Trax looked phenomenal and his 7800 efforts look equally impressive. I'm especially excited by the title screen of Danger Zone--it recalls everything that was cool about Top Gun.

Thanks for keeping 7800 journalism alive, Funk!

There are now multiple Atari 7800 games going for over 500 dollars on ebay and several more that are several hundred!  So is the 7800 a valuable collectors console now?  What affect does it have on the community?  Is it a good or bad thing?  Let's discuss!

In other news you can get a free Atari VCS game!  Watch to learn the promocode!  And QOMP2 was released on February 20th, but is it worth picking up?  And did one of the guys get a review code from Atari?  Well yes one did but which one did and which one is butt hurt?

We also had a Food Fight Culinary Combat Tournament so tune in for results and find out who is butt hurt over that!  Lots of butts hurting this week...

  11. Jon Stoll II has decided to step away from doing the Atari Network Podcast, and I’m not continuing it without him, so that will essentially be the end of that. I will still update the Atari 7800 Forever website and YouTube Channel, and he will continue with the Atari Network YouTube channel. We had a fun run and I hate that it came to an end. Thanks to everyone who followed and participated in the chat! So much fun! #atari #atari7800 #atari2600

You ever see that show Quantum Leap where Scott Bakula goes back in time to put right what once went wrong?

  12. Klax is one weird "stuff is falling" puzzle game with one of the strangest (lamest) tag lines in history: It's is the nineties, and there is time for KLAX."

But this cerebral puzzle game was a completed, unreleased prototype that is pretty darn faithful to the arcade machine its based on. Read about all this jive in the review located:

Enjoyed the review! 🙂 XM/PK is really a great conversion. Darryl1970 noticed one or two things not arcade accurate, but I'd never have known if he hadn't told me. Tep did a phenomenal job with the graphics and POKEY sound. 😄

I actually forgot I had a copy, until I was poking around my 7800 stuff after your review. 😛

That's crazy that u forgot you had one. But sadly, Im getting to the point where Im getting damn forgetful about all the crap I own now.

What was not quite arcade accurate if you remember?

      Jinroh

I honestly can't remember. I'll have to ask Darryl and see what he said. It was a pretty obscure detail though, I'm pretty sure.

  24. Rikki & Vikki did a lot to prove that the Atari 7800 was capable of rendering incredible graphics and sound with amazing depth and gameplay, however it couldn't escape one of the system's issues altogether. Here's how to fix the Rikki & Vikki game breaking glitch. http://www.atari7800forever.com/rikkivikkifix.html #rikkivikki #atari7800 #rikkiandvikki

  25. Silverback from the Atari Network and Funkmaster V (Vinnie Vineyard) interview a "big wig" from the Atari Jaguar era. He was a senior producer (project manager) on many original games for the Jaguar, Lynx, and even the 5200 and 7800 as well. There's a lot of insightful information about the waning Atari years in this interview, with info about what they did both right and wrong. Jon and I are going to talk to him again b/c he wants to talk more about Atari Jaguar misconceptions.

Some of the games he lead while he worked for Atari were:
Dirty Larry, Gordo 106, Dino Dudes, Cybermorph, Iron Solider 1 and 2, Alien vs Predator, iWar, Kasumi Ninja, Tempest 2000 and more!
