  1. You mentioning Jackal made me think. I thought I has that game on something and I found it. I still have my Game Room on my 360 with the few games I purchased before it was shut down. That's where I have Jackal.
  2. I'm not a huge Donkey Kong fan but how about that one? Unless you had a different one you would like try? Someday I'd like to join others in working on Faxanadu. I've heard good things about that game. I tried it out once to make sure it worked but got lost quick.
  3. I wish VHS tapes would come back. VCR systems too. I don't really have to have 4K, 8K definition.
  4. Dinosaurs went extinct for a reason. Why try to bring them back? That's just asking for trouble.
  5. All set. This Jurassic Park has never been played. I opened the end if it when I found it at Goodwill to allow it to get fresh air. It has never been played. And now our feature presentation.
  6. I use to hate REM statements but I have gotten to where I use them often and especially in work explaining what a section of code is trying to accomplish. Being I was the only one programming many moons ago, and not wanting any one else to take my work, I avoided REM statements but had a hard copy with remarks present. With web design I use remarks everywhere, and in BASIC, except with the small code I just shared, I use them first to outline what I want my program to accomplish. I then build my program up from there. I just wish I knew what I'm supposed to use to compile my Atari BASIC programs into stand alone programs.
  7. Thank you! Believe it or not, Atari BASIC gave owners more access to the machine's inner workings than any other BASIC for any other machine. It might not have been the best but any address location on the Atari can be accessed with BASIC. I have not seen any other BASIC offer that. Not on the C64, not on IBM, not on Apple, nothing. Those kept you out of those areas. Not Atari.
  8. I did a little BASIC programming through the night. Nothing too fancy but here's the code should anyone want to see it in person. You just need Atari BASIC built in to all XL/XE model computers. Have fun!
  9. Spaghetti code is/was a way to protect your work in a weird sort of way. It was a way to make sure that only the author knew what was going on. If they got canned and the project handed to someone else the next person would have their work cut out for them. I try not to use REM statements not because of program space because those are ignored. If I do use them it is to map out game ideas of what I am trying to accomplish. I have nothing against using GOTO, GOSUB, or any other program flow syntaxes or remarks.
  10. I just read something else in that instruction pamphlet... This game has 7,500 rooms!!! Has any one ever played this game before and made it to the end? Is there an end?
  11. Spent a little time with Gateway to Apshai (I have no clue how to pronounce that). I have no clue if it keeps going or if there is an end to it. The pamphlet says to conquer Gateway so I guess there is an end to it at some point. And now...my score. And real deal played on real hardware.
  12. I noticed one of your games here was Aztec Challenge. I'd like to see screenshots of that one as I wonder if it is based off of the C64 version or one of the two Atari A8 versions.
  13. Im quoting myself because in order to get my 7800 back to working order I have to perform an AV mod on it. So I do own one piece of modified hardware just not a computer in the modern sense.
  14. NES Pinball is good. Be sure to let us know how you like it. Pinball Quest is really fun! If you ever find that one at a reasonable price you might try jt. It will really challenge your pinball skills. Oh...and I was asking what you had to see if we might have the same game where we could do a bit of a battle challenge for this thread before it ends.
  15. Rollerball has been difficult for me to put down. I haven't experienced the multiball portion of the game yet but I did earn a shoot again from destroying all the bumpers up top. I did improve my score, too. I seriously need to find a Famicom shirt. I'm really enjoying this little guy.
  16. The NES Rygar was a really good game I thought. I really liked the adventure and almost RPG-style of game play. I did eventually beat it but not after having the power fail while keeping the NES on overnights. Dragon Warrior I eventually beat, too, but not without the mini guide NP gave out to subs.
  17. Damn. And that's not a lot of games?!? I see two Zelda games. Awesome collection and that is a decent sized collection. That's about how many I have in physical carts. Most of those you have are what I grabbed decades ago on sale. Those are not that cheap now. It's a little blurry but do I see Faxanadu? I have that one but have yet to really dig into it.
  18. When I played Zelda for the first time I had no idea what I was doing. Nintendo Power was not even a thing when I first played Zelda. The only way you learned where things were was by exploring and word of mouth. It took me a long time, and I mean years, to finally beat LOZ. But it was worth it.
