PotatoBox Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 Has anyone tried moding an FB2 before so that it'll take real 2600 carts? I've been wanting to do this for awhile but never got around to doing it. Is it something that a person with basically no solder experience can do?
RickR Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 I've thought about it, but it looks a little too advanced for me. The cartridge slot connection points are really small and close together, and there are a lot of them to connect. It would be cool to have one though.
Arenafoot Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 There's several "how-to" guides online......I wouldn't try it personally. If I'd want one that bad, I'd just buy one already modded. Bakerman Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 I also thought about it, but I already have a 2600 and plan on getting a 7800 again, so I don't see the point for me personally. I only have an FB2 to use until I get around to getting more 2600 games again, since I only have a handful now. "Slugs, he created slugs?...Is this not the work of a complete incompetent? AlamoAtari Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 The pads are a little small, but I think that it's not impossible. The real issue is getting the ribbon connection right. They are really close to each other.
RickR Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 And also finding a cart port. Remember, you'll have to solder on that end too. As I said, I thought about it a lot, and decided I'll probably do a composite mod on a real 2600 instead.
