RickR
S5:E6 Spoiler I like it very much! This is a classic Star Trek. We haven't seen something like this in a while. Well done. And was Book playing Virtual Boy? 🙂 Sabertooth
TrekMD
The latest episode was really good! Well written and with good character moments. Slower paced but still enjoyable. I still have to watch The Ready Room for this episode. Edited May 5 by TrekMD Sabertooth and RickR 2 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming... Sabertooth
I just watched episode 6 last night. It definitely had a classic TNG vibe thematically. With 4 episodes left, I have a feeling we'll need to hang onto our hats from here on out! RickR and TrekMD
TrekMD
You know, it is really unfortunate that this show is coming to an end now, when it finally found its footing! As for the last 4 episodes, I agree! We'll try to watch this one tonight. Looking forward to it. On a complete side note, we've CUT THE CORD here! No more cable tv. Woke up a little before 1 am and watched this and the associated Ready Room before conking back out. Congratulations on cutting the cord and inching closer to retirement! TrekMD
I just finished watching the episode! Boy, talk about things revving up! Excellent episode... Spoiler And that Breen Dreadnought is something else! It dwarfs the Federation HQ! I can't see how the Federation fleet that was assembled there could have beaten that thing! RickR 1 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming... RickR
OK, we finally watched E7 last night. My wife wasn't feeling up to it for a few days.... Spoiler I agree with TredMD that the Breen Dreadnaught was impressive. But other than that, I had some issues.... "Breen don't negotiate!". We then see the Breen negotiate. "Breen don't negotiate!". You'd think the second they let the Breen near L'ak....BOOM, they'd steal him away and be done. Instead, they stand there doing nothing. I understand they wanted Moll near L'ak to help his recovery. OK. But why not put her in shackles (arms and legs)? Why not chain her to a bulkhead? Why not have a double chambered force field? "Breen don't negotiate!". You'd think with that giant dreadnaught, they'd at least leave with a few "F-you" starship destructions. It takes genius Stamets and genius Tilly/Adira a LOT of time to figure out the clue. How will Moll/Breen know where to go? "We can track the spore drive" -- have we ever heard of that before or are did they just make it up for this plot? OK, why not use a cloaked ship and go there slowly? Or travel to 100 locations across the to throw everyone off the track? Staff don't even walk to a briefing room...they beam everywhere. They beam weapons into their hands. So Moll escapes. And you're telling me they can't find her and beam her into a brig? Zora knows where everyone is, right? This makes no sense. Escape shouldn't be possible. Especially once they find her in the corridor. Requesting a force field at that moment should have been the end of it. I guess I can summarize my feeling by saying I don't buy these two fugitive characters outsmarting the entirety of Starfleet. I like the show very much and I agree that they are finally hitting a good rhythm. But this writing is getting a bit on the bad side IMO. Hide contents I agree with TredMD that the Breen Dreadnaught was impressive. But other than that, I had some issues.... "Breen don't negotiate!". We then see the Breen negotiate. I think this was colored by the commander's prior experience and more a reflection of what happened to him and his family. "Breen don't negotiate!". You'd think the second they let the Breen near L'ak....BOOM, they'd steal him away and be done. Instead, they stand there doing nothing. It seems they could have done this since they were beaming through the Federation shields. Unfortunately, that didn't work for the plot. I understand they wanted Moll near L'ak to help his recovery. OK. But why not put her in shackles (arms and legs)? Why not chain her to a bulkhead? Why not have a double chambered force field? She had her hands shackled. They must have been overconfident that was enough. That is indeed the first time this is mentioned BUT let's not forget this is the 31st century. They might have developed tech to track such a drive. People just beaming in and out of places does get annoying. Why not take a turbolift? I guess those are becoming obsolete? As for Moll, they did mentioned she could be using a biological equivalent of a cloacking device to mask her bio signature. Again, something new. I guess I can summarize my feeling by saying I don't buy these two fugitive characters outsmarting the entirety of Starfleet. I like the show very much and I agree that they are finally hitting a good rhythm. But this writing is getting a bit on the bad side IMO. See the hidden box...
