I attended FreePlay Florida this year.  This is the main event in Florida for Retro Gaming and has been going on for several years.  Various retro guests  attended and there were plenty of arcade pinball machines to enjoy.

This year there was even a release of an exclusive event-themed game for the Atari 2600.  This is a limited edition custom game sponsored by Cybertron Video Games, AtariAge, and Retro Games Fan for Free Play Florida 2017.  The game itself is a mod of Midnight Magic created by Florida’s own Atari legend Scott Dayton of Neo Games.

Yes, it is a smaller show but quite good.  I took those pictures with my phone as I left my camera.  Seems this was the trip to leave stuff behind.  I lost not one but two chargers (my tablet and my cell phone).

So I think it's an interesting time to point out that this event, while I know very little about it, is probably anything but free. Free to you and me perhaps but who's paying the bills behind the scenes to make such an event happen? Taking it they have vendors/exhibitors that have astronomical stand/booth fees to pay for the entire shindig?

I love Midnight Magic =)

Lots of volunteers I'll bet.  ;)

Bummer to lose stuff...but an opportunity to buy new ones.  On the bright side, much better to forget the chargers than the phone or tablet!

No, not free at all!  LOL  But the cost is reasonable whether you want to be there for one day or the entire weekend.  The organization that is in charge of this is a non-profit group also.

RickR, the phone charger is easy to replace.  The tablet's charger, not so much! I've had a hard time finding a replacement as it seems to only want the original one to do rapid charging.

I promise you this show takes a heck of a lot to put on :)   I'm one of the founders of it and I work all year literally to find all the cool stuff to share.   We have always been careful to keep our prices and costs in line which is why we chose to stay the size we are, we are more of a medium size event but we pack a large event's worth of fun in the time we get.

Free play is a non profit organization that is self funded, we work for every penny we put toward the show and have never taken a single dime's salary.  Thank you so much to those that support us, we truly are a grass roots bunch of enthusiasts.

Exactly.  Thank YOU for putting this on and doing it right.
