Yes it is tired to hear from young people how bad Pac-Man and Donkey Kong for the 2600 VCS are. I loved them, when I was young. I didn't know any other versions, but even my father who was a Pac-Man champion played the 2600 VCS version. 😛
Not only are they fun for what they are, but both of them are the de-facto stock video game sound effects for like 30 years. 😄

This is a great get for genx and a great question to have answered for the community!  Very cool stuff!
As far as the description he's 100% right about being able to talk with these people.  Since my channel started and has grown to a small fraction of genx, I've been able to speak with the developer of Ninja Golf (David Dentt), the developer of Rikki and Vikki (Tailchao aka Osman) and tons of other extremely talented people from the industry.  But Genx has even more of an opportunity as there are some I'd love to speak with but I don't get responses from due to the small size of my channel.
I'm glad that there are other channels out there getting these interviews and this information from the developers mouths on record before they are lost forever.  That's part of the reason Atari Network supports GenXGrownUp and other Atari Channels fighting the good fight!

I watched last night.  Excellent!  Very enjoyable to watch and hopefully this puts the issue to rest.
Personally, I liked 2600 DK a lot.  I remember buying it at Toys R Us and being so excited on the car ride home to play.  I know it had it's limitations, but it was a lot of fun and definitely captured some of that Donkey Kong magic in my eyes.

2600 DK was just like 2600 Pac-Man for us BITD. Sure neither one looked that great, but we played each game, hour upon hour and had fun doing so. Honestly, these games have been made to look/sound worse (IMO) by the younger generations, whom obviously weren't around to play the games when they were initially released.

I'm more of a Y-Wing pilot, so cool that it has Y-Wings, A-Wings, U-Wings, and maybe B-Wings too. 😄 I wish there was one for Astromech droids. I have an incomplete BB-8 and R4 Droid build in my garage that I was making good headway on before I survived my stroke. 😒

I just watched this interview by GenXGrownUp with Garry Kitchen.  Enjoy!
Video Description:  One of the coolest benefits of being a content creator is having the opportunity to actually speak with some of the key figures who laid the foundation of the video game industry, and my guest for this video is without a doubt one of those individuals. He was there in the very early days of Activision when they were forging new ground as the first third-party game developer for Atari and later others, he is the wizard behind such successful titles as Keystone Kapers, Pressure Cooker, and Coleco's Donkey Kong, and is still blazing that trail today with other Activision alumni over at Audacity Games. In this interview, Garry Kitchen sets the record straight on the urban legend that Coleco intentionally designed the Atari 2600 port of Donkey Kong to make the ColecoVision version look that much more superior.

Congrats! I had to make a new account some time ago or I would be celebrating with you.
I got scammed out of $1 in 1999 for some Pokémon cards. 😂

Very cool day to day minutia of Atari. 😄 Entertaining to see the culture going on through e-mails.
This one reminds me of when I bought a book on coding games in C for DOS around....1994 maybe. I did not have a C compiler or have access to a C compiler. 😅 Borland and Watcom were expensive at CompUSA, so...were off limits for me. At least Petrick had engineers she could mooch off of. 😛

hahaha that reminds me of the time I was getting a developer to help me with my C++ homework. From 1997-2002, I was taking evening classes part-time at the university pursuing a second bachelor in computer science while working at Microsoft. Those weekly programming assignments were brutal. In case anyone is curious, I dropped out.

It appears to be authentic and there's some interesting stuff here.  What do you guys think?  1983 - 1992 skips the early days, but we get a lot of later history.

Jinroh got a reaction from RickR in DIY ST Video -> Composite cable.
Was poking around old ST magazines, and found this cable schematic to output composite video from the stock ST video port.
Did not know this trick, and thought some of you YouTube channel guys might find it useful for recording ST games on the cheap if you hadn't heard of it either. My guess is that it would be 50HZ, rather than the 60HZ NTSC (IIRC the ST monitors are 50HZ), but not sure. Either way a modern LCD shouldn't care, same with a capture device. 😛

That's a distinct possibility. It could be a leaky capacitor. I would have to have it checked out. I just don't know who to turn to yet. I will get it done, though.

Hopefully nothing major, I thought too, maybe one of the caps is leaky and giving the bad voltage.

Thanks. I wonder if it is one of three things:
May need possible re-capping of motherboard. Video shifter may be damaged. May need new power supply. Or, it's some other issue I don't know about. Since, I am not a repair expert, I am only guessing here. But, it's a bummer, though I can live with it for now. I will eventually find a fix for it, I am sure. It could be something very minor or not. I just don't know.

Oh bummer, sorry it gives you a scrambled display. I wonder is something came loose or became unseated a bit when you moved. 🤔 Agreed though yes, the MegaSTe is a great unit. I wish I had a Falcon, but MegaSTe is the next best thing. 😛

I think you are right. I already have a composite monitor cable for mine. I think it utilizes both RF and composite video on the same computer because there is a TV port on the back of it. It can also utilize stereo audio because it has audio L and R on the back of the computer. So, it's pretty versatile. I just looked at the back of my MegaSTE and found out. The MegaSTE really is a cool unit, but I think mine needs some repairs because the video looks scrambled on the screen. That just happened when I moved into my new place a few months ago. But, it still works otherwise.
