Hobby Programmer Brek Brixius (SiO2) has a new Etsy store, and apparently I was his first customer! Brek showered me with funktastic gifts that I will reveal in the video and we will take a look at this awesome looking cart and Brek's take on the old Atari 2600 game Fast Food! #atari #atari7800

Ever since I heard that Popeye was almost the "Jumpman" in what turned out to be Donkey Kong, I always had a little hot thought... What if...

For those who are into emulation of retro games, Trebor (from Trebor's Stuff) just updated his Atari 7800 ROM Pack for the first time in about a year. There are dozens and dozens of games, gimmicks and updates to check out. Links to java based emulators, my thoughts on a few of the updates, and the link to the ROM Pack itself is located here:

I just wanted to state that even though my review on Atari 7800 Forever seems a little harsh, it's really just making fun of the main character's dumb looking sprite. It scored a 3.5/5.0, which is a good score. I played the arcade version of Venture for this review as much as I could stomach and it sucks in comparison to this 7800 version. If you like Venture... this is the best version ever made.

Bentely Bear Backlash!
In recent years, I've seen that there has been some confusion and real life tears in regards to Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest. It all stems from Bobby D astutely inventing a "C Button" for the Pro System. Here's how to fix the confusion with the game in the modern age where people use emulation more than consoles.

Toki is one of the missing prototypes in the Atari 7800 library... but it's not really missing. Here's where it is, and why you can't play it.

Rikki & Vikki did a lot to prove that the Atari 7800 was capable of rendering incredible graphics and sound with amazing depth and gameplay, however it couldn't escape one of the system's issues altogether. Here's how to fix the Rikki & Vikki game breaking glitch. http://www.atari7800forever.com/rikkivikkifix.html #rikkivikki #atari7800 #rikkiandvikki

@Funkmaster V that was a great interview. Some good insights there and it sounds like the scrolling platforms in Crystal Quest was giving Pacmanplus a headache. I thought it was weird that there was no moving platforms and now it makes sense. I should've known that he was smart enough to want to include them and also smart enough to step away when they weren't working.
Thanks man! I appreciate it. Bob was a hell of a nice guy. WAY TOOO NICE. Im gonna start interviewing more 7800 people soon in between shooting movies.

Here's the list from my website based on scores... these are currently the ones I have reviewed for the system- although I think 2 or 3 will sneak their way onto this list soon.
1) Rikki & Vikki (Homebrew)
2) Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest (Homebrew)
3) Baby Pac Man (Homebrew)
4. b*nQ/ Q*bert (Homebrew)
5. Pac Man Collection (Homebrew)
6. Frenzy (Homebrew)
7. Beef Drop/ Burgertime (Homebrew)
8. Ms. Pac Man
9. Tower Toppler
10. Centipede -
I asked Bob about BBCQ a lot in this interview... he mentions the platforms a little bit. Maybe this will help you a smidge.

Poetiru: a review:
I like reviewing games like this. But then again, I like rancid milk. Here's my take on Poetiru, available for free on the creator's website..

Back in the double aughts, the 7800 community was happy to become foster parents to the wayfaring, troubled 2600 cart "Save Mary". This inspired many artist renditions, scribblings, and etchings of labels, some of which exist on the internet still to this day. Tonight, I compiled the surviving images in one article and I poke fun at most of them:

In recent months, I have also updated the site with reviews of Save Mary, Xenophobe, Millipede, Robotron 2084, Froggie and more! Check it out.

Hello FunkMaster. Thankyou for the review of Putt 18 Miniature Golf on the Atari 7800. This was our first game we did for the 7800 and working on doing some better games in the future. We are about to release Venture for the 7800. Tile Smashers is in later stages of development. 7800 has allows me to make games with graphics that are more colorful and more detailed than the Atari 8-bit/5200 version.
I have seen your post up on that other Atari forum and a well received response. Many people seem to enjoy the game and having a lot of fun. The layout was kept simple and made game play easy. Some posts disappointing and inaccurate about all my games being substandard for the 7800. To date, only Putt 18 for the 7800 has been released and no one other than our own beta testers have been able to play them yet. Also stated I was banned for poor quality labels and manual was not true. Statements that I using different accounts to help promote my games are also not presently true.
I am working on games like Animal Keeper, Laser Blast X, and Novawolf for the 7800. I am developing some upgrades to make these games look and play great and look forward to completing them. I wish to thank the Atari Community for their support for our games.
Keep 'em coming babe

Marc Oberhäuser has a fun name to say and a really cool store on Etsy called AtariGameBoxes. It features the game boxes that he conjures up for homebrews, reproductions, limited releases and prototypes. He has dozens of Atari 7800 game boxes available at around $16-17 a pop (and other classic systems too). Funkmaster V ordered a handful and looks at them for the first time with you. #atarigameboxes #atari7800 #atari Check out the biggest Atari 7800 website on the planet: www.Atari7800Forever.com

Mr. raz0red has cooked up an Atari 7800 emulator so easy to use, that I put it permanently on the front page of my website. Emulation is never perfect, but you can experience so many homebrews and works in progress by simply clicking a few mouse clicks. So fun. Try to beat my scores on the boards! I'm off shooting goofy horror/comedies this weekend (except for Sunday), so I decided to catch up on the Atari 7800 Forever workload with some corrections and re-reviews from the old site. I hope you enjoy! When I get all of the original 57 (or 59) written I will start doing video reviews of all of these games.

Pole Position 2 Discussion

Atari at this point was losing it- there was a big difference between 1984 and 1986 as far as video games were concerned. It was a very bad move to be two years behind at the point. The 7800 business model made sense in 84... Pole Position for the Atari VCS was a popular game, the 7800 PP2 was gonna have 4 tracks and good graphics... Asteroids and Centipede had great 2 player updates. There was Food Fight, Robotron and Ms Pac Man as opposed to that crap Pac Man game. It just needed 3-5 original 7800 only games to move the system. People always compare PP2 to Super Mario Brothers... and thats just not fair to PP2. But.... thats what consumers did and the rest is history.
I think the early system killer was Karateka
