really sorry about that Omega.  I posted yet another bug fix to you in your messages.  suppose i should put it in here too.  then i'm gonna go sit in the toilet and cry.

It won't make any difference for the video unless you spot any roaming enemy missiles that shouldn't be there, this version fixes that issue, is all.
I'm fed up.  Had enough.  Taking a break.  I've done the one thing that causes my anxiety to spike and that's releasing a game, thinking it's done, and then finding bug after bug that weren't apparent the first time i playtested.  😞

The TI GPL programming language came about for a couple of reasons, the reasons I understand are that firstly TI thought 9900 assembly might put people off programming for it (I don't know why?) and secondly, they didn't have a working CPU when they were developing the 99/4 and Dimension-4 computers, as the 8 bit CPU they wanted kept failing, so GPL was used for the OS and it's internal BASIC.  It was recommended by one of the TI employees to use the Zilog Z80 cpu.  I think they shot him.  They went with the 9900 and GPL along with the so-called GROMs.

Yes this is the finished product.  I did a total re-write of the code but kept most of the graphics.  Since I had the graphics and knew roughly what I was doing the re-write took 24 hours.  The name "Avaris II" was the official name anyhow until I thought of Anubis , it is the follow-on to Avaris.  But then Alan (OLD CS1) started with his Anagrams and came up with BI ANUS so I changed it back to Avaris II  !   🙂

I'd love you to do a video of it and thankyou.  Your videos are always of a good quality.

What?  You trying to suck me back into the TI full-time or something buddy?  I love new stuff, it gets the old excitement juices flowing.  Looks like I'm going to have another fun game to play.  Kudos to you!

I've become aware there's an Atari game with the same name, well I didn't know about that game , so this I can assure you is not a copy of it, or any other.  It came about because I had the graphics already plotted out in my little folder from what I call "Graphics Sunday" where some sundays I just plot graphics and hoard them.

It does look good.  It's about the only reason I'd buy a Nintendo of any variety.  I'm a coder not a gamer but this looks enticing.  Maybe one day!

I saw a post about it on Facebook, and it looks so cool.  It's a TI 99/4A emulator for Nintendo DS by Dave B.  Please take a look at his Github page for download and installation instructions.  I haven't tried it yet, but it is on my list.

Oh yeah, I got 600 points on my first attempt with 118 shots fired and one kill by the laser.  I got a, "Nice Shooting Cowboy", but immediately got fried on level two.

Here's an improved amended version of Morg Blaster 2.  It has a slightly imroved Morg explosion sequence that uses less CPU time, once you get past stage 3 and back round to stage 1, it only adds and extra 10 Morgs to the amount to kill each stage.  At game over is a game summary showing how you did.

BLAST2-G.BINBLAST2-G.BIN < Cartridge Image for FinalGROM if using real TI99, or just load it into any emulator.  Needs 32K enabled and joystick.
Note: Do not attempt to rename the G file.  It will becoming unusable.
I didn't know wether to use a separate thread for this or not but here it is, Morg Blaster 2

    Notes about the game:

You can't shoot if you are directly next to the thing you are trying to shoot. Back up a little and try again.
The laser cannons on the left and right side of the screen, there's no other way to put this, they are EVIL.  They will kill you to death.  Their missiles pass through anything to get to you , the only thing that stops them is a Morg and that's only because Morgs eat everything!

If you manage to get past stage 3 (Devils Tower) you will start again with increased difficulty (more Morgs to shoot in each stage) and you will be awarded an extra life.

Good luck .... and enjoy!  To practice it's best using option 1 in the title screen (Novice)

A little more progress made today.  Now the Morgs enter the screen and chase the player, they have 3 speeds of movement depending on the option the player chooses at the title screen.  Player cannot shoot or "die" yet.  In this video I choose options 1, 2 and 3 to show the speeds.  There's a tension build-up before they arrive.  🙂
