Nice man! Enjoy! Now I'd personally mod it and put all the SNES ROMS on it but that's me lol.

Sad but doesn't surprise me.  Most of the stores I've visited in recent years looked tired and dated.  My hometown's store was not in a safe location and only had parking for a few customers.  Small store dealing mostly with hardware, appliances, and some electronics.  But it never got an update the whole 35 years I was there.  They did do small engine repairs onsite so that might account for their size.  The one that was in the area I live now was slightly bigger but very rundown.  Some of the items they were trying to sell looked like they had been there a few years.  Lawnmowers included.  They left May 1st 2018.  Nothing has tried to go in the spot they were at which is unusual for a small strip mall.

  3. So, I find myself in the market for a Sega Master System. Hoping I can find a cheap one online before 2019 is over.

2019 might be the year I look for a nice Sega Master System too! It's one of my favorite systems. I had a minty fresh one in the box that was stolen out of a storage locker along with many other items from my collection. My best friend had a Master System when we were in elementary school, and when I started retro collecting in middle school I was able to find a Master System II for $19 brand new at Kay-Bee toys with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built in. But I always wanted a nice original Master System for my collection. Sega Master System along with TurboGrafx-16 round out the "unique" 8/16 bit systems with great graphics and sound that I love to play. I'll take a Master System over a PS4 or Xbox any day!

Me too! Pretty exciting. I also got one from the actor that played "Will" on Land of the Lost.

I watched that one recently too! It was pretty dated. And that coward Ernest Borgnine!

  8. Mass shooting reported at a video game tournament in Florida. Multiple fatalities and the shooter is dead.https://www.cnet.com/news/mass-shooting-reported-at-video-game-tournament-in-florida/

  9. Got my hands on a couple of used Xbox 360s this week, but there's no controllers. If anybody here has one extra, I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount for it. (Gamestop and Ebay are too expensive, I've already discovered.)

    1. Atari 5200 Guy

      Atari 5200 Guy

I have four, two wired and two wireless. But only one works, the rest are shot. I agree, these controllers are crazily priced and you never know if you're going to get a good one. Will keep any eye out, though. My wired one was $15 from GameStop if that would be an option?

    2. LeeJ07

      LeeJ07

My local Gamestop only has wireless ones, and they're asking $26.99 to $29.99, which is crazy for a controller.

  10. Sadly, the only working CRT television I had here completely stopped working. No more Duck Hunt for the forseeable future.

Keep an eye out on local Goodwill and other stores. While they can't take them you might find free ones sitting around their donation areas. Check Salvation Army as well. Also, do a search for free TVs on Craigslist in your area. That is how I found my little 20" Santo CRT flat screen.

The 20" Apex I had died a while back and I didn't know of a hidden feature it had. It could switch between 50 & 60 Hz as needed. So, now, most of the ST games I have and one 2600 game do not work on the Sanyo model I have now. The 2600 game is Secret Quest.

  11. Finally got a Nintendo Switch!!!

I got no games, though :P

  12. Decided to dip my toes into the world of import gaming. Just bought myself a Bandai Wonderswan Color on Ebay.

Also, on YouTube look up Kelsey Lewin. She is a Wonderswan goddess.

  13. According to his Facebook profile, today is Steve Woita's birthday!

  14. So I was taking a look at my Dreamcast again, and it hit for me the first time that it must be a launch model. The sticker says August 1999, and it has a 0 in a circle, which I learned makes it a Rev 0. Peek in the casing shows it to have a metal fan casing. This thing is pretty rare, aren't I correct?

  15. It was bound to happen... I finally experienced the annoyance of battery backup going dead in one of my games. :(

  16. I'm on a mission to download every single 3DS Virtual Console game to my 3DS. I have reached 42. Will I succeed? Only time will tell...

      Have you reached 43 yet?

  17. About three or four more weeks till our new house comes in. I'm getting impatient to reorganize my games again.

Ah the joys of making plans.

  18. Finally dragged out my PS2 again, after making sure it was totally dried out, only to discover the only controller I have seems to have totally crapped out. Which is just great. I guess I'm back on the market for a PS2 controller, and in the meantime, no PS2 games. :(

Dang, I wish I did, but I only have one Gamecube controller. I'll just have to troll Ebay or the local game store when I have time, but either of those options will likely cost more than I'd really like to pay. Sadly, PS2 controllers pretty much never show up at the thrift stores around here.

    3. LeeJ07

      LeeJ07

I'm guessing my PS2 controller got wet or somehow damaged back when the tree fell on the house, I don't know, but none of the four action switches on the right side work anymore. Bizarrely, the d-pad and analog stick on the left side work just fine.

    4. Atari 5200 Guy

      Atari 5200 Guy

I have tons of PS controllers but not sure how many PS2 controllers I have. I'll look and may have a 3rd party model. Hmm...can you take things apart comfortably? You might try taking the PS2 controller apart and cleaning the carbon contacts on the button pads and the flex circuit inside. That might work.

  19. Been doing a little shopping online, snatched up a couple games for relatively cheap. I'll post pics when I can.

  20. Got my room mostly cleaned out now. It looks like I dodged a bullet and most of my videogame collection was unscathed. A lot of my Wii and PC games boxes need to dry out, though.

  21. Well, the tree has finally been removed from the house. What a week.

      Rowsdower70

Hurricane Rita dropped a huge pine tree on our house. It was a lot of work from us pulling up wet carpet and padding before the contractors ever got there.

  22. A tree has fallen on our house. I believe my entire videogame collection may have been destroyed.

The consoles that got wet might be OK. Give them time to dry out. Might take a month or two but they might still work. Glad you guys are alright.

Things are settling down a bit. The tree is being removed today. In better news, I managed to ascertain that my games are all apparently fine, aside from several cases getting wet. My Wii and PS2 are sitting out to dry. Sadly, my two VCS's had water literally pouring out of them. Hopefully they weren't destroyed, but 40 year old electronics? It probably isn't too good.

    4. Atari 5200 Guy

      Atari 5200 Guy

VCS systems are built like tanks! But you could help them out. Remove the screws and pull the mainboard out. Use compressed air of some kind or a blow dryer to dry off the board. At least try to dry off the cart slot...it would most likely rust before other components.
