  1. The original Sony PlayStation wasn't the only gaming hardware to see a September '95 North American release...

Happy 25th to the Atari Jaguar CD!  Only 11 official titles were released on the platform and a meager 20,000 units are reported to have been produced.

Celebrate the launch of the doomed Atari Jaguar peripheral with this montage of the 11 official releases, Virtual Light Machine and more!

@Justin I can totally relate!  Besides the Sega Dreamcast, the Jaguar CD was my only day-one hardware purchase.  I have to admit, standing there at Electronics Boutique with the Saturn and newly released PS1 on display, I definitely had second thoughts.  But I reasoned, if Atari is releasing the hardware, surely that means they're intending to support it until the Jaguar 2 was ready, right?  They also had the mock-up of the Jag-Duo at E3 that year and the deal with Virtuality.  Little did we know that with Sam falling ill, Jack would fast-track Atari's exit from the hardware business leaving the new peripheral basically unsupported.

Still, we got the VLM, Battlemorph, IS2 and Hoverstrike:UC out of the deal.  Plus the add-on was critical to early homebrew development until cheaper options for carts were made available.

I wish I had IS2. I already have Battlemorph and Hover Strike: UC for the Jag CD. It is a great system, but finicky of course. But, when I purchased my first CD unit, I was in digital heaven. I love VidGrid, by the way. Unscrambling music videos while playing them is a challenge.

@DegasElite I really like Vid Grid too. The difficulty ramps up quite quickly and some of the videos are really challenging. Also, IS2 is still readily available from Songbird. It's way better on CD than cart and cheaper too ($60)!
