Also, the VCS issue isn't fixed after all. Hopefully it gets sorted before the weekend!

No worries on the sore subject.  That's all on me.  I hate to disappoint others.  Something to work on.  I'm totally fine with my decision.  Crowded indoor event is something I'm not ready for yet.

      How is baby doing?

She's doing great so far. Its amazing how quickly they grow and change in such a short time. She just started smiling and its the best thing. Thanks for asking!

  2. I just watched the trailer, special message and panel from NYCC. In terms of the new villain, I would have rather Denise Crosby reprise Commander Sela. It almost seems like the new villain was a space holder for something Romulan. I'm excited to see Lore return. Meh on Moriarty. I think they absolutely wasted Q last season and he's the best villain on TNG by a mile. They might have brought back Dr. Pulaski since Moriarty and she had a connection and story. Not to be overly critical, I will watch this. I'm just not terribly excited after season 2. Frankly, the special message feels like an appeal to forgive them and give it another shot.
  3. The early reviews are coming in and they are mixed to positive. I Dream of Indie: Way Too Many Games: https://waytoomany.games/2022/10/10/review-atari-mania/ COG Connected: https://cogconnected.com/review/atari-mania-review/
  4. Here are some more photos of my XP carts. This time my Aquaventure Ltd. I can't believe Atari shelved this in 1983.
  5. Here's the first early look video I've seen for Atari Mania from John Hancock.
  6. From Atari staff via their Discord on the changes: PSA Atarians: This is the skinny on Missile Command 🚀 🚀 1. On October 16th, the current iteration of Missile Command: Recharged will be removed from all console stores and the new Missile Command will be available for pre-order. If you want to play the old version, then make sure you purchase it before October 16th. (If you do, you will still get the discount I'm about to mention) 2. Those of you who own the current version of Missile Command will be reached out to and offered a discount on the new game equal to the price you paid for it. This equals out to around 30% off. Full price, the new Missile Command will be $10, so you'll pay like $7. 3. If you have the current version and would like to keep it, you may do so. Even if you delete the old game, you can still redownload it so long as you purchased it before. You don't need to delete the old version to obtain the new version and it won't be removed from your personal library on the 16th or after 4. What's the difference between the versions? New and better visuals, more content, and extra gameplay. It's a very similar game but now brought to the standards of the other Recharged titles 5. There seems to be confusion about the name change and some of the devs just want to clarify that this isn't a "second version" or sequel (even though V2 is a helpful way to discuss it right now before the switch has been made) it is a complete game replacement. The name has been kept the same because the older version will no longer exist except for the people who already have it) and only the Oct. 16 game will be supported in the store and with updates going forward. This is all the official info, if you heard conflicting information about the discount or anything else, it's incorrect unless it's this ^^^
  7. Yars' Return was updated with additional fixes by Dennis Debro. It is available cart only at this time. The fixes are noted in this interview. https://atari.com/blogs/atari/dennis-debro-shares-his-experience-working-on-yars-return The other two games are the most complete versions of the ROMs. Saboteur is the same as the AA cart and is different than previous Atari compilations. I think the differences @Mockduck noted are down to the quality of the emulation in the VCS Vault and Antstream. Digital downloads are in the modern VCS store.
  8. It's very cool that owners of the original will get 30 % off of the new version.
  9. From what I gather, owners of the original can keep the game but it will no longer be available for sale. Also, the mobile versions will not get an update. The original was initially mobile free-to-play. This enhanced versionis console and PC only.
  10. Note: I decided to break this out from the original Missile Command: Recharged topic thread as it is truly a different game. Does anyone else think they should have gone with Super Missile Command: Recharged or Missile Command: Recharged Deluxe for the sake of disambiguation?
  11. Here's the trailer for the new version for those that missed it in the other thread:
  12. An article from Digital Trends on the updated version of Missile Command: Recharged (2022): https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/missile-command-recharged-re-release-november/ Some choice quotes from Atari CEO Wade Rosen: “The more Recharged games we released, the farther we pushed them, adding challenges, boss battles, creating more of a progression and storyline,” Atari CEO Wade Rosen tells Digital Trends. “The Recharged Series has evolved. When we look back at Missile Command: Recharged, we see an opportunity to revisit the game and apply everything we had learned over the last six Recharged releases to one of our favorite classics.” “I think people are craving a return to that kind of gameplay,” Rosen says. “That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a place for epic campaigns that require 100 hours to complete. But I sense that there is also a need for games that allow you to jump into a session with a friend, or a family member, and enjoy, no matter if you play for 20 minutes or two hours.”
  13. Release Date: October 29, 2022 Retail: $9.99 Developer(s): Adamvision, Sneaky Box Publisher: Atari Official Site Synopsis : "Missile Command: Recharged takes the classic arcade game and adds several layers of oomph and pizzaz. This revamped take on the classic introduces more power-ups, new enemies, and a suite of challenges that limit the number of counter-defenses at your disposal - not to mention co-op across all game modes! An amazing new soundtrack from the incomparable Megan McDuffee perfectly complements the gameplay and adds depth and variety. Of course, you could also test your skills against players across the globe in the 32 challenge levels or the classic endless Arcade mode. “Wait, I thought there was already a Missile Command: Recharged” you say. Yes, that is accurate. Missile Command was the very first title in the Recharged Series. Consider that first effort a pilot … we did. After launching six more Recharged titles, all with more content and features than the original Missile Command: Recharged, we decided to go back to the original and update it with everything we have learned along the way. Anyone who purchased the original ($2.99) can upgrade to the new version for $6.99."
  14. Welcome to the official topic for Missile Command: Recharged (2022)
  15. The next two XP cart releases have dropped: #5 Crystal Castles #6 Haunted House I really like the Haunted House. Crystal Castles is a bit abstract in it's interpretation. $99 ea. from either Atari or Ltd. Run.
  16. If you are on Twitter, you'll want to follow the Digital Eclipse account. They're leaking clips from Atari50 in the run-up to launch like this interview clip with ex-Atari Engineer Jerry Jessop on Atari 5200 backwards compatibility with 2600.
  17. Yes, that's a big shortcoming of the original Missile Command Recharged, which was a port of a free-to-play mobile game. This is an all-new build that brings it in-line with the rest of the series. Arcade Mode, Missions Mode, Achievements, Leaderboards, etc.
  18. From Atari (via Discord): **MISSILE COMMAND: RECHARGED - OUT NOVEMBER 1st** Next in the popular line of remakes from Atari and SneakyBox comes Missile Command: Recharged! This remake takes what the original and the first remake from a year and a half ago brought to players, and gives it a much needed face-lift, as well as many features that were either missing, heavily requested or later implemented in the remakes to follow! You're earth's last defense against an oncoming rain of death from the sky! Mount your cannons and open fire upon the attackers, while making sure to protect your cities! Once the last city falls, you're done for! Obtain power-ups, adjust your aim, and invite a friend to join you - do everything you can to keep the enemy away! How long can you survive the onslaught? Watch the first trailer here:
  19. Atari announced Missile Command: Recharged (2022) is getting the full "Recharged" treatment! As you might know, MCR was the very first Recharged game. It was designed first as a free-to-play mobile game before being brought to the VCS, Steam and Switch. It's fun in short bursts but lacks the depth and replayability of the later Recharged titles. Atari looks to correct this with a brand new build, complete with Missions Mode, Achievements, Co-Op, leaderboards and more. Personally, I think it's great that they've come back to give this iconic title the full attention it deserves. Due out November 1! Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
  20. I'm so bad at this game but I think it's great. Hoping to get better throughout this month's challenge.
  21. Congratulations to everyone and way to go @greenween! I really wanted to join in on this one but between work and my 7 week year-old, I didn't get to Burgertime. If you like classic arcade action in the vein of Burgertime, Donkey Kong Jr. and Popeye, I highly recommend popping over to ClubVCS to check out our October challenge: Donut Dodo.
  22. Developer Pixel Games has generously offered to send a signed, sealed copy of Sir Lovelot for the Switch to the winner of this challenge!
