  1. You’re welcome. I’m an Xbox ambassador so I do what I can when I can. I favor the 360 more than the newer Xbox consoles because Xbox has managed to control the games on Xbox one soo much it feels like you never own a game. I’m not dogging their methods but at the same time I don’t agree with all of it. If you have gold and get free Xbox one games with gold you can play what you claim as long as you have gold. Lose gold and you can’t play them. When the service was on 360 you got to play what you could claim then if you lost gold you could still play what you claimed. The 360 is still a very able console with tons of great games. So once you claim them on your computer you should be able to download them on your 360. If you need help let me know and I’ll do my best to guide you. I think once you mess around and get to know the 360 you’ll like it. If you ever want to know what all games you downloaded to your 360: At the dashboard use RB to navigate to the System area, select account, select downloads. If you ever get digital 360 games or dlc and remove them you can get them again by going here. Avoid the purchase section of this area as it doesn’t work. At least I’ve never got it to work.
  2. My first score. 51776 played on junior with europad controller.
  3. The 360 can be finicky. I use Xbox.com on a computer to add credit card info then use the 360 for downloading 360 games. The games are free but for whatever reason Microsoft still asks for current payment information. The 360 is not the easiest to shop with. Never has been. At times it is slow, it sometimes locks up requiring a complete power disconnect, and other times it just sits there with the ring spinning like it doesn’t know what to do. Its dashboard has been messed up since its last update after Xbox one came out. Microsoft has never tried to correct the issues. It was fine until that last update. if nothing else use your Windows account with Xbox.com and go claim the games that way. Then sign in to that same account on your 360.
  4. You will need a Live account. A Silver account will work if you don’t want to pay for Gold. You would need that only if you plan to play online. You can set one up using your Xbox. It will need access to your internet. Finding the store from the 360 dashboard is actually easy. Once you have an account setup use the shoulder buttons on the controller (LB and RB) to navigate to different areas of the dashboard. Go to the GAMES section and on the bottom you can pick SEARCH GAMES or browse games alphabetically. You can also use a USB keyboard to help type in characters if you need to. There are three distinct 360 models. The original models are known for and started the Red Ring of Death symptoms. These are white in color with either a white or chrome disc tray and name plate. There is a black elite 360 model that looks like those mentioned but should have had the RRoD issue fixed. The most popular models appear to be the S models. These have air vents on top and come in various colors and decor. The E models were the last revision and attempted to capture the original XBOX One styling. Both S and E models have wi-fi built it, the original and elite models don’t. You’ll have to hardwire with an Ethernet cable. Microsoft has mentioned how impressive it was learning their fan base still plays and supports the 360 with original hardware. Even with the RRoD issues the 360 did what it was made for. The only aspect of XBOX I didn’t like was having to pay to play online when I already have to pay for internet. But 18 years is a long time and Microsoft is not shutting it down completely. Just the marketplace and Movies and TV sections…everything else will still be functional.
  5. It is official. While XBOX will keep the 360’s online services working, they have said they will be shutting down the 360 marketplace by July 29, 2024. You will still my be able to download and play owned 360 games, digital and physical. After July 29, 2024 the 360 will no longer be able to access the marketplace. This move also affects the console’s ability to play digital movie and tv content through the Microsoft Movies & TV app. Backwards compatibility will continue on modern Xbox consoles. With that said, I have been browsing the 360 store for games left I’d like to try to obtain and made a small discovery. There are some games that are free. Free is good! And these games are good ones. What I have found so far are: Crackdown, Crackdown 2, Too Human, Resident Evil Revelations 2 There are others but if you haven’t bought a 360 yet, and have been meaning to, now’s the time. You don’t even need to buy a game with it. What is free is some of the best 360 has to offer and will provide many hours of entertainment. If you can get a machine with a hard drive included. You can also use external usb storage devices up to 2 TB total to download games to. I just recommend a HDD because some games require internal HDD to access some features. if you find more free 360 games on the Xbox store please share! Lets get these while we can!
  6. I’ll be setting up in a few days. I would like to try this.
  7. I use to keep mine in an 8-track carry case that also held the manuals. That’s why I mentioned it. Easier to obtain in my opinion. They fit in the case sideways perfectly. Those released by Atari and PB. I didn’t have games by any other 3rd parties so I can’t vouch for them.
  8. The only two paper materials Atari made for the 5200 showcasing games and accessories was the catalog already shared and a poster. That’s it. Those are the only two I know of that was 5200 only. I know Atari Corp made a few showcasing 5200 games alongside 2600 and 7800 games but that was mediocre at best.
  9. I’ve always had good luck with Casio. It was my first watch and I’ve always liked the hourly chime. I had two more databank watches one of which was a tv/vcr remote. Both of those got lost in a move many years ago. I still have my calculator one. I bought both my nephews Casios when they moved closer to me. They are still ticking.
  10. I need to get hold of some of those everdrive carts.
  11. Oh I’m definitely going to keep playing this one. Very impressive for an SMS game. I wonder if the Sega Rapid Fire for Genesis would work on the SMS?
  12. I don't have images but I'd like to try this as either a one-time box or a subscription for the disc-based systems. Plus they have vinyl. Vinyl! https://lovedagainmedia.com/
  13. I kept trying but I couldn't beat my old score. If there's anything I gained from this is I hope to add R-Type soon so I can play it on real hardware.
  14. Nice. Space Rocks is one I'd like to pick up. What is hard about this is the fact the 2600 has soooo many good games you really can't just pick 5 or 10 easily. Even the games that lack in looks make up for it in game play.
  15. I have never seen nor played Taz, Road Runner, or Tapper on the 2600.
  16. Asteroids is in my top 10 definitely. Asteroids was very popular in my area. I do remember the 2600 Asteroids flying off the shelves rather quickly when I would look at those shelves behind the counter, wishing for an Atari. Fast forward to the NES era and every 2600 bundle mom and I would find at yard sales had Asteroids and Space Invaders guaranteed. The 2600 got really good ports of both games IMO. Missile Command was one game that didn’t really matter which Atari system you played it on. The 2600 got just as good of a port of that game as the 5200 and A8 got. Really well done.
  17. Oh dear. Atari 2600 games that never get old? I could make a small list. Top five? Would that work? Space Invaders Jr Pac-Man Enduro Midnight Magic Berzerk
  18. The audio for Tempest (Homebrew) and Centipede were from the actual arcade games. Yep. Atari ripped the audio code straight from the arcades of those. The 5200, when done right, can pull off some really cool things...including audio. The unreleased prototype of Super Pac-Man sounded really good. Atari should have released that one. But, I agree, the 5200's game library is really impressive. If they can get an analog controller that wants to work right, and keep those games with their original analog characteristics, I think it could be a great deal. Having those analog controls for games like Pac-Man was not really the problem as long as the controllers were in top working condition. Any drifting or off centered controls could lead to poorly executed game play. I never had issues playing games like Pac-Man with 5200 analog controllers. I know they are not perfect by any means but they worked for me. They had to work and I had to learn them. It wasn't like I could ask for another Atari console when I was a kid. I got the 5200 so I had to learn how to use it. From my perspective I highly believe a better analog controller, built with modern parts, could possibly help prove the 5200 was an awesome console. I'm not saying it was the best...I'm saying if.
  19. I voted for R-Type on the Master System for a few reasons. The first reason is I was expecting to order the game and have it to play on real hardware. That idea, however, has not happened. Second, R-Type was one of those shumps that seems to have been forgotten about. It has some neat power up features compared to the shumps Konami made famous (sheild, speed, missiles, options...etc...) plus the soundtrack is good. Third....I played the SNES version of this game and I did not know that the Master System ever got it until recently. I was curious about it. I was shocked that the sounds I was hearing. It's not a bad port for the SMS. So it doesn't matter how well you can play the game. I have more fun seeing others discover the game with me. That's why I pick games like this. I'm going to try to join in this weekend. This game is fun! Could use some turbo fire buttons, though. I would have to invest in Genesis third-party controllers with turbos for this one.
