I did find it interesting that CEO Lisa Su of AMD gave Atari a shoutout for using AMD as their customized chips with embedded Radeon graphics. It will be truly interesting if this honestly a customized chip made specifically for Atari via AMD but I find that highly unlikely since this is being crowd funded.

The part of the problem with said AtariBox is just that, it doesn't have anything specifically unique to it and is just another off-the-shelf components slapped together in a shoddy box which comes across to me as nothing more than a money grab. It'll probably just be an Atari-branded SteamOS and nothing more. They haven't shown what the controller, joystick or input device looks like yet... nor have they confirmed any original 3rd party (or first party for that matter) titles in development for such a... product.

Feel like the original Tempest 2000 will never be topped (I just love the pixels too much and it's really perfection) but very looking forward to playing some amazing 4K T4K soon

Leonard Tramiel has confirmed that the video processor is in no way linked with the Panther. I've attached a video display sub system specification PDF - credit where credit is due: Leonard was kind enough to scan this document so it can be shared and TXG/MNX was kind enough to post it to the Panther group. So I've located and confirmed existence of another Jaguar VR prototype that is fully populated - this will make the 3rd known unit in existence, outside of the other 2 empty headset shells. Just thought I would share the pics here as well: Not sure I'm really interested in plunking down any money for this one, not that it's exactly for sale right now anyways, it appears to be in pretty rough shape. Not sure if it's functional or has the tracking base either but I do remain hopeful it's fully functional.

Super fascinating to hear, thanks for sharing the story! I had no idea their Atari Entertainment Division existed in Chicago until just last week after researching more about the Panther. Do you have any idea why they would have created the development manuals or maybe even distributed the kits from that location? It seems like such a small office but maybe looks are deceiving from Google maps:

Nice pickups on the two VHS tapes and both video game related! I would watch Mortal Kombat a million times before I think I could sit through Mario Bros again lol maybe it's not that bad but I remember it being kind of bad haha... you'll have to let us know how the refresh is and if you make it through the entire thing lol

Well, I reached out to them via phone and as far as they know, it was not video recorded sadly. She mentioned a transcript may be available but I'm not sure any interest is really there for that as much as there would be for seeing the play. Did send an e-mail out to see just in case with the director of the play so maybe something else will come from it but not sure.

Has anyone here ever had the opportunity to use an Atari Hotz Box or ever own one even?

I haven't been able to get any word back from Mike Fulton or otherwise but apparently there was a GEM Touch program, though most ideally it was intended for the STPad only. No comments still on the left side of the panel that seems to be blank.

Shadow of the Beast was apparently the title to be worked on for the Panther. What a really cool game choice to have had!

Also it's really interesting that the same people who made the very cool Wipeout was working with Atari. It's really too bad that didn't translate into any Jaguar games from them...
