Hi all, my name is Chase. I’m a professional video game composer. I have shipped over 21 titles in my 11 year career and I won an award for best soundtrack for the score for the game Aground. I am also a huge retro gamer. I own over 800 physical copy games across multiple systems including some Atari. 
 
I hope to meet some of your acquaintance and discuss more cool retro topics.

@GRay Defender has an excellent overview of Nukey Shay's Pac-Man 8K for the Atari 2600. It's a great introduction to Pac-Man 8K if you've never heard about his hack before!

Objective
Play for the highest possible score using the difficulty settings defined in the challenge. Post a photo or YouTube video of your score in this thread. Scores must be achieved between April 1st and April 14th, 2022. Screen captures are not allowed as they are more easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. The player with the highest score at the end of the competition is the victor!

Play Rules
Games may be played on real hardware, Flashback / Mini console, or emulation, using any controller or keyboard, following all rules and game settings defined in the challenge. Choosing between real hardware or emulation, and choosing which controller to play on is part of formulating your strategy. Enhancements, rewinds and hacked versions of this game are not allowed.

We are playing Pac-Man 8K on it's Default game settings.
 
Fair Play
Your integrity is everything. Players should play fairly, be honest, and have fun! Falsified scores will result in your immediate removal from the site. It goes without saying that we will not allow cheats, hacks, cartridge frying, enhancements, rewinds, deceitful photo manipulation, subterfuge, or any other unfair advantage. Everybody hates a cheater.

Welcome to our 121st Squad Challenge!  For this challenge we're celebrating the life of Nukey Shay along with Atari National Pac-Man Day which takes place every year on April 3rd. Pac-Man 8K is a beautiful hack of Atari's original Pac-Man for the 2600, but with many improvements to demonstrate what could have been done at the time had Atari taken a different path.
Do you think if Atari had released Nukey Shay's 8K version of Pac-Man in 1981 that it would've changed history and things might have been different? ROM is provided below. GOOD LUCK!

Congratulations to "The Don" @RickR on becoming our new Neo Turf Masters Squad Champion! This was a big win for Rick, and our first time playing a Neo•Geo game in High Score Squad, so let's all give Rick a big thumbs up for his awesome performance on this tough game! And a big congratulations to everybody who joined us for our first Neo•Geo arcade game! I hope Neo Turf Masters was the funnest golf game you've ever played. 
RickR takes 1st Place in our Final Standings with his stellar score of -8 under par. I take 2nd Place in our Final Standings with a score of -7 under par. @datafry was on fire, scoring -1 under par to secure the 3rd Place in our Final Standings. @btbfilms76 and @nosweargamer both scored +6 over par and tied for 4th Place in our Final Standings. @Gianna enjoyed playing her first Neo•Geo game and scored +8 over par to take the 5th Place in our Final Standings.  @Doug.dryerlint17 winds up our tournament, scoring +12 over par to take 6th Place in our Final Standings. I hope everybody who joined us for our first Neo•Geo Squad Challenge had a blast!

I've been playing one round of golf a night. Seeing steady improvement. This time I was able to become the winner of my tournament.

I do love me some sports games!
This is completely unrelated, but I wanted to share anyway.  I've been playing an NES baseball game that I've never even heard of called "Bad News Baseball".  I don't think it would make a good high score challenge, but the game really got me thinking about NES vs. 7800 arguments (as in "the 7800 was just as good as the NES if they'd just written good software").  This game will really make you rethink that opinion.  The game has a level of polish that I don't think the 7800 can do.  The sounds (3 part music + speech + baseball effects) are astounding.  The quality of the text for scores and such (they look like an arcade machine).  The little cut-scenes (between innings, and my favorite -- the high-five line when you get a homer).  I honestly don't think the 7800 is capable of any of this to this level of quality.
