  1. Ninja Odyssey reminds me of Adventure Island. It looks like it could pass as its clone.
  2. That's true. It has all of the innards of that particular computer.
  3. I think that the A5200 could have been a better design, but a lot of games still play well on there. I like Super Breakout and Space Dungeon, for instance. Especially Space Dungeon, since the right joystick fires when you move it in the firing direction. It's like Robotron: 2084, in that respect. So, some games still play OK on there. Gyruss, however, could play better. The fire button operates too slow on that game. But, I have heard about someone making new controllers for the A5200 that work better. More responsive. I saw it on YouTube once. I don't have the link to that video at this moment, but there are experiments being conducted right now, leading to a better controller. But, Gianna, you're right. Eighteen months is too short a time for any game system. The A2600 lasted almost fifteen years, for crying out loud! :O)
  4. In my life, I have raised three ferrets, just not all at once. Their names were Snickers, Pepsi, and Cola. They were cool little pets. Snickers was alone, while Pepsi and Cola were litter mates. Fun little guys, those ferrets. :O)
  5. Whoops! I forgot that I posted previously about Country Club. Sorry about that. :O)
  6. When I was growing up, there was a supermarket in the 1970s and 1980s called Country Club. It was a nice store that had everything a supermarket would have. My family would shop there because it was the closest supermarket in our part of Saint Paul, Minnesota. They later went belly-up and became no more. We also had Red Owl, Knowlan's, SuperValu, Applebaum's, Cub, Rainbow Foods, Lund's, Byerly's, Kowalski's Market, et cetera. We always as kids exclusively went to Country Club. It was near the arcades at Rack and Cue Billiards and the Minnehaha Lanes. The Minnehaha Lanes were a bowling alley that had a small arcade, and I loved the arcades. Too bad that they demolished it. Ah, those were the good old days. :O) There was even a video store that pioneered renting A2600 games to people in that mall. It no longer exists either. It's too bad. That video store was ahead of its time then.
  7. Beagles are cool dogs. I like beagles because they are friendly to people. Very social dogs.
  8. Thanks, Lance. I downloaded it. Will this work on a Mega STE? I think that I need to upgrade it anyway. :O)
  9. I have known Lance since 1995. He has never steered me wrong. Good guy, that Lance. :O)
  10. They are great paddles, from what I understand. Amazing piece of engineering, I must say.
  11. When the Jag was still on the retail market, I got one for $99.95. But, that was twenty-five years ago or so.
  12. I am just going by hearsay about the availability. I could be wrong.
  13. I can see why they were priced like that. Wasn't it only 250,000 Jaguars that were made? Plus, only 10,000 CD units were made for it, from my recollection. Very rare stuff. Absurd yes, but I can see it nonetheless.
  14. I don't doubt that they all sold at all, Justin. People are desperate for a collector's item, even an Atari Jaguar or two. I hope that these folks had the money to pay it. Paying $1,600.00 a Jag is expensive for sure.
  15. Actually, Yars' Revenge was a port of the arcade game Star Castle, which could not have been done on the A2600 in the 1980s. It was still great, but Star Castle was finished as a homebrew years later for the A2600. Star Castle A2600 is also great. I like the action and graphics, and the sound is spectacular, too.
  16. It might have been impossible then in the 1980s, but with current technology I can see it now. Interesting stuff. :O)
  17. Thanks, Gianna, for putting this up. I think that it looks pretty good. It sounds a lot like the A7800 version, which I own. Interesting port. :O)
  18. Getting to your question: I was planning on being more active here. It is a friendly community of gamers. For sure. In fact, I have been much more active lately. Expect to see more of me. Yes. :O)
  19. Thanks, Justin. Actually, I really would love to see if the knowledgeable people on programming from here can set up a forum post or blog on game design and programming games. I think that it would be a great asset to the people in the Atari.io Forums. It could cover stuff like BASIC, assembly code, and more advanced languages for any and all of our Atari computers and systems. It could turn this site into a mecca for people who want to learn this stuff. That's what I think. Thanks for letting me share. :O)
  20. Anyway, I will see what I can do for your cause. I might chip in. I will see what I can do. Thanks. :O)
  21. I had a grandfather who passed away from Alzheimer's last year at the age of 88. It's tough. I did see him before he died. He was in good spirits and was in his right mind at the time. He even recognized me. But, sadly, it progressed, but he died peacefully. In his sleep. Thanks for letting me share. :O)
  22. Sorry to hear about your dad, AC. That is very young. Bummer…
  23. Oh, it does? I must have forgot about that. Yeah, that is confusing because they are so close. My bad. XD
  24. True. The A5200 version of Pac-Man was better than the A2600 version. I just wish that they had enough memory for the intermissions. The intermissions are entertaining in the arcade version. That would have been nice. Actually, the A5200 and A8 versions are almost identical due to the fact that the A5200 is modeled after the A8 computer in architecture. I guess that Nintendo even modeled the NES after the A5200. They apparently just reverse-engineered it. But, of course, the NES has better graphics than that. Newer system. You'd expect that. Anyway, despite all that, there were good games on the A5200, like Space Dungeon, Popeye, Missile Command, Super Breakout, to name a few. Of course, this is my opinion on these games. I like them on that platform. It could have been better with the controls, but it still shines with some of the games. But, getting back to Pac-Man, I liked it on both systems. Besides, I have heard of attempts to create a new and better controller for the A5200. I hope that it works well. :O)
