If you're just starting out on the 2600 most of the best games are common and cheap. Atari isn't in as high of a demand as Nintendo is right now. Looking at the games you picked, I'd recommend Berzerk, Phoenix, Moon Patrol, Vanguard, and Megamania.
I have always wondered about this. I never understood why Sears and Atari did this with all the name changing and rebranding of the Atari VCS and its games. Could someone please fill me in? Thanks.
I think it was by Milton Bradley. It was this game where you shot black and white marbles on a spinning disc and tried to form triangles. It's from the late 1970s I believe. It was a wind up game. My dad had it and still does somewhere. I loved it when I was little. Does anyone here remember it?
@TrekMD Crystal Castles! I love the arcade! I loved just spinning the trak ball as fast as I could to get to the top-left corner in the first level and activating the warp! I thought it was so cool when I discovered that.
Hello everyone! I have wandered over from the 2600 section! I have been on the fence about getting an Atari 7800 Prosystem for a while now. Would you recommend one to someone who already has a 2600? If so what games would you recommend? Thanks to anyone who can help!
Woah dude! It's so cool that@nosweargamer found my thread! Love your show, dude, though Ice Hockey at number four? That's an interesting choice. I'd say it's mediocre at best. But seriously, keep up the good work, man!
Hey there, everyone! It's me, HDN! I'm new here at Atari.io and I would love to get to know the community! And what better way to know the 2600 community than by asking everyone what some of their favorite games for the system? I'll start with mine. I have a few picks that you might not expect:
10. Outlaw
9. Venture
8. Miniature Golf
7. Space Invaders
6. Pitfall II: the Lost Caverns
5. Q*bert
4. Moon Patrol
3. Donkey Kong
2. Pac-Man
1. Tunnel Runner
So that's my list. I would love to hear about some of your favorite games as well. Please list them below and happy gaming!
I wasn't around when Pac-man on VCS was new, but I've always rather enjoyed it. Maybe its weirdness is why I keep coming back to it. I'd say it's in my top five on the system.
Hey everyone! My name is Harry. I received and repaired two Atari 2600s (4-switch woody & vader) back in March and have been quarantining with them ever since. I have always loved the 2600 and was ecstatic to finally get one. I recently picked up a physical cart of my favorite game, Tunnel Runner! I am a huge retro game fan and Nintendo nerd and I am delighted to be part of Atari.io!
