  1. Put the 2600 in B&W mode and it'll resemble the arcade version of Outlaw.
  2. That would be nice to see, and I hope that Disney doesn't try to shut it down b/c there is room for both original & final cuts (see Blade Runner). The main thing that bothered me about the original trilogy was that versions of the movies we all loved in the 80's were considered by George Lucas as "mistakes" and the "improved" versions he had in mind due to improved technology were...eh, not that good from a writing standpoint.
  3. Yeah, I used to buy PC Gamer magazine a lot and playing the demos off their coverdisk CD's. Sadly the front-end menus never work so I end up extracting the demo install files off the disk anyway, my favorites being Unreal Tournament and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri which I end up buying. The one demo disk I remebered the most fondly was one sent to me by Squaresoft (courtesy of EBGames) where the two games I liked, and bought, were Einhander and Bushido Blade.
  4. I got a Pentium II PC back in 1998 when I went back to college because I really needed a Windows PC which was what the schools used. In the eariler 90's you could get away with dialing into VAX or UNIX machines for programming courses while everything else used DOS PC's (with Macs in Writing Labs of course).
  5. I remember trying to teach myself C++ but couldn't afford to take classes at the time, so I bought a textbook from the community college. It came with Borland C++ compiler but I didn't have a Windows PC b/c they were also expensive for me ATM. I tried using GNU C++ off a dial-up UINIX account but it didn't work. Once I was able to go back to school, and get a new PC, the teacher's used the same Borland Turbo C++ that came with my book... Anyway, I'll check out that archive.
  6. Yeah, I think that was the other one...didn't know if it was released or not. (I just go by what I've read in magazines, wishing I could get the cool stuff...) :)
  7. Maybe it's DiamondOS since that's the only Atari 8-bit GUI I know of, it came on a cart and had DiamondPaint & DiamondWrite as available apps.
  8. Seriously, you should make a YT video about using ChimeraOS to run Steam on the VCS. (And I do enjoy your gameplay videos.) I keep seeing these comments that are like, "Why doesn't Atari put all their games on the VCS!?" And I'm like, "Dude, just use PC Mode..."
  9. Final Legacy is an absolute classic Atari 8-bit game. It combines Star Raiders, Missile Command and Battlezone in one naval adventure. And you only need a joystick to play, though to get out of the sub-games immediately you have to press the Space Bar.
  10. Wow, I don't want to say this but Jack really was a cheapskate miser. He actually thought he can save money by throwing out inventory instead of selling it? No wonder why Atari Corp. was dead last in everything...
  11. Both Hatari and Steem support PC controllers, just find the Joystick setting and select the Xbox controller that's plugged in. Don't bother with MAME/MESS since the emulation there isn't good. RetroArch does have a core for Hatari...
  12. That's how I spent my early 80's childhood at the local K-Mart, playing games on the TI-99 kisok. Anyone else try to "figure out" BASIC just to get Syntax Errors? That's why my mom got me my first computer because she knew I had potiential for programming.
  13. Here's some webcasts that had some episodes with interviews with Hasbro Interactive people at the time. The one episode was were Hasbro said they would release all Jaguar coding into the public domain which led to this huge homebrew scene. Anyway here's all the episodes of Back In Time... https://archive.org/search?query=subject%3A"Back+in+Time+Webcast"&sort=date
  14. I had a feeling it would come to the VCS, as long as they knew it can be ported there...just like Haunted House.
  15. I had a landline but even over VOIP I was still getting spammed with unwanted telemarketeer calls because I forgot to get an unlisted number, so I canceled it to also help reduce my cable bill. My smartphone is only a necessity for work related purposes so I can use the scheduling app to find out what hours have changed and to call off work if an emergency comes up. Plus I also use it to keep in touch with my family members and for news & weather updates. And yes it really helps if I have to call AAA for road service! I do not do any social networking or play mobile games on it, so I only need a cheapo Android phone. I much rather use my Windows 10 PC for everyday stuff or even my Samsung tablet for mobile usage.
  16. Awesome video, I subbed to see more games that can be played on the VCS's PC Mode. Any thought of showing people how to get Windows on the VCS? There are a lot of Atari games on Steam that aren't gonna make it in the VCS Store.
  17. Actually it could be a fun show watching people play real Atari games... 🙂 I remember a show like that on G4 called Playerz and one of the celebs hooked his Atari up to a flatscreen and had friends over for a game of Warlords. It would be cool to see a reality show where people are in this late 80's/early 90's house and they have to play retro games as part of a competition, with the only help are game magazines since there would be no online access. (Think Game Center CX which was popular in Japan) I liked it too, it was like the 16-bit version of Starcade. I've been meaning to watch that show since my mom, of all people, recommended to me. It's like Wipeout really. Hadn't gotten around to it since I mostly watch 90's wrestling on Peacock.
  18. I do use Alexa to turn on my TV and even my Xbox, plus I tell it to go straight to my streaming app bypassing the ad ridden home screen. But lately Alexa doesn't do voice search for shows anymore plus the Prime subs are getting out of hand so if my Fire TV Cube dies I'll only get a Roku stick... 🤷‍♂️ (Still good for instant weather reports before I go to work.)
  19. This will go great with Basic Math Recharged... 😄
  20. You tried using a 2nd hand VCR? I used one to hook my Atari systems to a composite video monitor years ago, and now I use one to hook my A/V systems to my RF only CRT.
  21. Personally, I only watch a few shows on streaming apps (mostly watch YouTube). Right now I use my Fire TV to find shows that either A.) are on a subscription service and watch through the apporiate app or B.) have to rent or buy even with a Prime sub. The only time I've watch local channels is for weather reports on the news and I can get those on the station's web site using the Silk browser and also for retro TV sites. If I want to watch the live news then I use Peacock Plus which gives me the local live channel. I should put up an outdoor OTA in case my broadband cable goes out but that's a summer project that involves roof climbing.
  22. Here's another reason to drop Prime subs...starting in Jan. 29 they will start showing "limited" ads in all their Prime Video movies and shows. Like I'm already paying them too much money even thjough I still have to rent or buy half their content anyway, and it's not enough for them?? And they already have an ad-supported streaming service called FreeVee so WTF!? This will be my final month so I can finish up watching a series on the BritBox subchannel in a few weeks. After that I can take the Prime sub money and put it towards buying a season of a show I still have to do anyway.
  23. Honestly, this is what I was hoping Berserk: Recharged would be like gameplay-wise...and the killer clowns from (out there) sounds even cooler! 😁
  24. The B&W pics remind me of the CompuEyes digitizier from many years ago...and also the Game Boy Camera!
  25. That's awesome! This is the second prototype of Defender made for the Atari 8-bit, the first one was included in MAME...
