I saw this and had to share it.  SPACE INVADERS - THE BOARD GAME is a combination of a deck-building card game with a measured dose of board game strategy mixed in.
In SPACE INVADERS - THE BOARD GAME, 2-4 players defend their moon base against the SPACE INVADERS by moving their cannons across the game board in order to gather intelligence about the enemy above them. Destroying SPACE INVADERS provides powerful cards that are then added to the players' hands. Gathered intel may be used for targeted research to further enhance the player deck capabilities. The game is driven by a total of 242 Action Cards, energy cards and researchable technologies.

After BlackCatz picks, here's the next few:
    @Willie!, then @greenween, followed by @Control Issues, @GRay Defender & @Mr Toon
I'll be off the grid for a few hours, so play nicely & try to keep track on your own until I can update everything.
And keep going as long as you can! Just refer to the order at the top of the thread.

Okay, I will remove the manuals that have matching games from the list & include them with the games.
    Thanks all!!

Would anyone have a problem if I included the manuals for any games that are chosen, if applicable? Or would you guys rather keep them separate?

    Okay, here we go!
The draft order is below. Some ground rules:
I won't put a time limit on the picks, but try to be as efficient as possible. I realize everyone is located all over the map and keep varied hours, so there's no expectation on my end. Consoles/handhelds/lightswitches count as one pick, TWO (2) games count as a pick, FOUR (4) manuals count as a pick. Trading of picks is allowed. If you want to move up & offer up later picks, by all means, offer away. You may pass on your pick. Post your selections in this thread. Both Skyrim 360 games count as one game. Games that had matching manuals in the loose pile of manuals will now be included with the game.. My only goal is to get rid of everything. 😀 I THINK that covers everything. If there are any questions, please ask away.
    HAVE FUN!!

greenween reacted to Justin in Have You Ever Found A Red Quarter? What Did You Think It Was?
💰 Have you ever found a Red Quarter? What did you think it was? Red quarters are known as “shills”, “house coins” or “freebies.”
If you’ve ever found an old quarter that was painted red, (usually dated before the ‘90s) those were used in Arcades to count free plays.
Whenever the machine ate your quarter without giving you your game, you’d tell the attendant who would give you a free game to make up for it. Sometimes they had the key to open the coin mech and hit the switch, but in many cases Arcade owners didn’t trust their teenaged employees to have coin mech keys where they could reach in there and grab a fist full of quarters.
Instead, Arcades would have extra quarters called “shills” or “house coins” used for this purpose. Sometimes these could also be found in laundromats and diners with jukeboxes. House coins were painted red so that at the end of each week, when all the quarters were counted from the coin box, they would subtract the red quarters from their earnings and return them to the attendants to be used again. Over time most of these quarters have made their way back into circulation.
The next time you come across a red quarter dated before the early 1990s set it aside! You never know if that quarter worked long hours at an old Tilt or Aladdin’s Castle somewhere.

I think I play a lot more now that I used to.  Since we are empty nesters, I seem to have more time for that, and it makes me happy.  Right now, I'm on a big GB/GBA kick, so I play that almost every day.

    Sooooo...
I finally have my game room/man cave/hideout nearly completed. I’m unpacking all of my stuff from the move two years ago & guess what? I need to purge more.
I’m going to have a junk box or two of 2600 games, some Genesis games, more manuals & other stuff. I’m sure there will be some NES games too once I get to that box.
Just like last time, I’m not looking for anything in return. HOWEVER, if anyone has any CIB 2600 games (that I’ll list in a separate post), that would be awesome. 😀
I’ll update this post as I keep unpacking & sorting. I just wanted to give you all a heads up. 👍

greenween reacted to Justin in Are consoles becoming disposable???
Unfortunately I think we're going to see consoles phased out entirely, as we know them. We already have apps for our phones and iPads, Apple TV and Alexa. Eventually most gaming that happens on the television screen will either be powered by one of those devices or by the smart TV itself. The rise of platforms like Google Stadia are an example of this industry shift.
What does that future look like? Think of the results. No physical copies, no resale market, stores such as GameStop will dry up, as will video game departments in other retail locations. It all sounds so boring. I hope this won't be the case. We will always have these classic games and consoles as long as we keep them alive.

Yes, if/when (I'm sure it's inevitable) games go 100% digital with no physical options, it will certainly be a sad day.

No dude, thats great. My main worry is when the console is no longer suppirted and the games go bye bye. Again, that will be the new reality to future generations and I am sure they will be whatever about it. Its the going back a number of years latter to enjoy the past that bumms me out. Great response bro, thanks.
