  1. Plans have been afoot. Plans to reclaim our bonus room as my retro gaming place. Well, it's been slowly coming together. We still have one kid at home (working from home too), but I suspect at some time very soon, this room will be mine again. In the meantime, we've been moving furniture around, and here is a really nice desk I just put in. I got it used, cleaned it up a bit, and it's going to work perfectly.
  2. The seller listed it with appropriate wording that indicates it may not be authentic. Good for them. But yeah, weird that it went that high.
  3. Here's a link to a text version of the manual: https://atariage.com/manual_html_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=527 Also, here's a RickR concise version of the manual: Hit the ball with the paddle. And finally, here's an online emulator -- you can play the game in your browser: http://www.virtualatari.org/soft.php?soft=Super_Breakout
  4. I've had this same thing happen with Webroot. For me, it reports the whole website of atari.io as "dangerous" for "gaming downloads", but ONLY if I try to download a bin file. I think it just doesn't like the ".bin" extension. In any case, I can assure you there is no virus embedded here and if you'd like, I can PM you a Zip file that contains the super breakout rom.
  5. I started with the Minter Collection today and had a lot of fun with it. The sound effects are a crack-up. And I love how you gotta play one more round of the Llama Robotron to see what kind of enemies will appear next. Wild fun. Iron Soldier looks like a really good one. I love the comic book art work in the game (demo/start/in-between scenes). This one feels right up my alley and I think it's going to end up being my favorite so far.
  6. The rules are simple and listed in the first post of every challenge. Essentially: post your score as often as you like. Ask for tips if you need help. Give tips if you can. And have fun with it. Go read the Super Breakout thread and you'll see how it works.
  7. Another Jaguar game! Iron Soldier. I got it for a nice deal via ebay. And that green tub under is the home of the Jaguar, which I have pulled out to test and play these new games tomorrow.
  8. It's a hard game! And the small paddle doesn't help. Really fun though.
  9. Steve Weibe is the focus of the movie "King of Kong". He's one of the people that chases the Donkey Kong world record. If you haven't seen that movie, it's a good one. My wife enjoyed it just as much as I did, and she's not into video games at all. Anyhoo, they paint Weibe as a more honest "good guy", and Mitchell as more of a black-hat "bad guy" in the movie. Interestingly, this was done way before the whole cheating scandal bit Billy.
  10. Well maybe it will be cheap to buy if he doesn't even know what it is. This is the connection to the PEB box right? Frankly, I've never had interest in that item; although I know the functionality it adds.
  11. Whatever it is, is it plugged in upside down? Maybe one of those flex card things that I have no idea what it's for?
  12. I decided to return the 27. I like it very much, but it's just too big for the space. I think I'm going to opt for a 24" instead. My old (and now current) monitor is a 20". I've also requested one 24" for work.
  13. You're gonna have to spell it out for me, as I have no idea what that is. Looks like something plugged into a TI on a glass table.
  14. I'm not familiar with that game. Sounds like fun though.
  15. Good callout! I also have a "smart" thermostat. Mine is a Honeywell, and it works well, honey. Their app is great, and you can make the schedules as you wish or have it figure things out over time.
  16. Well, this is another thing that is probably old news to many, but has really helped an old chap like me. Maybe someone else would like the recommendation. It's our home alarm. Our house came with a hard-wired system built in. It was expensive to get a contract for, impossible to expand, had a giant lead-acid battery in one of our closets, and also we had a ton of false alarms not even caused by user error (example: if the power went out when the alarm was on...it would almost always trigger once the power came back). In 2018, I disassembled that thing and replaced it with a "Simplisafe" system. It's much different in design. It's all wireless, and you buy the base station and keypad and then whatever sensors you want. It can be expanded at any time by just buying additional sensors. It has a phone app that lets you arm/disarm while away from home or just check status. Best of all, it's much less expensive. $15 per month. I've spend probably $200 in total on the hardware itself. I've expanded the system slowly as they add functionality. For example, I added a water sensor behind our fridge for $15. No additional monthly charge. I added a smoke detector, a panic button in our bedroom, and I'm about to add a few "broken glass" sound detectors. Anyway, it's a more modern solution that actually does work better and saves money. Ironically, we probably don't need it as much as we did before since the pandemic hit and someone is almost always home. But some of those sensors (like the water and smoke) work all the time.
  17. It's so cool to see. But I always have trouble with the complexity of these devices. Is there any kind of guide for adding more software to the SD card after it's been imaged with the winflash utility? That middle video mentions being able to download whatever you want, but not how to add it to the sd card.
  18. My main concern is the lack of space, as I need two monitors for work (and you can see them on the right) and also I'd like to upgrade one work monitor to a higher resolution to be more productive with the snipping activity I have to do once a month. I may return the 27 if it doesn't fit.
  19. The garage door system arrived and I installed it in about 30 mins. Easy. There's a base unit that installs on the wall and then a sensor on each door. No more worrying about whether I left the door open.
  20. This is kind of a weird one, but I've got myself a gigantic 27" display for my personal desktop.
  21. I missed the link. Whoops! Thank you. 3 games in 1 is a dang good deal.
  22. An lockable third game? No, I didn't know that! Is it hard to unlock? Thanks for pointing it out.
  23. A Jeff Minter collection for Jaguar and also Superman for 2600. Special thanks to @TrekMDand @Justinfor guiding me on Jaguar games, a topic on which I know very little. I got these from a local game store that is a wonderful place to visit.
