LeeJ07 got a reaction from RadioPoultry in Thrift Store Finds
As promised, here is a picture of my great find from earlier today.
It's a Coleco Telstar Classic Pong console, CIB, with instruction manual and original power cord. I got the whole thing for just $20.
This is the first Pong Console in my collection.
No idea yet if it actually works, though.

Not Goodwill. This is my modest haul from today's citywide garage sale.
DK Bongos for the Gamecube, Fable: The Journey for Xbox 360, and Jade Empire for the Xbox.
The white computer-like device on the left is a V-Tech Smart Start Speller from the mid to late '80s. I especially like that faux floppy disk drive it has.
The black thing on the right that looks like a calculator is a Unisonic 21 "Jimmy the Greek" Blackjack game/calculator, from 1977. As the picture shows, it still mostly works, but some of the keys appear to be broken. I believe it's now the oldest handheld in my collection.

LeeJ07 reacted to Kid A in Pep Boys sold video games?
So I was going through my collection the other day doing some reorganization and I came across my copy of Defender for the Atari 2600 and it realized I had the price sticker on it and the price sticker that says Pep Boys on it. I had no idea that they sold video games at pep boys!

LeeJ07 reacted to Justin in Found this old Perry Drug Stores HALLOWEEN Flyer from October, 1984
I found this old drugstore flyer packed away with Halloween decorations from when I was young. The flyer is dated October 28, 1984 and is from Perry Drug Stores in Rochester, Michigan. Incidentally this would have been the week that the events in Stranger Things 2 takes place. Perry was a prominent drug store chain in the Detroit area from the 1950s through the 1990s and was bought out by Rite Aid in 1995. The flyer was just junk mail that had been mailed to my house that my dad used as packing material to pack away Halloween decorations, and somehow the flyer survived all this time. Pretty cool to flip through here and see everything that was on sale in 1984 and how much it costs. Makes me miss Michigan in the fall. I also made a short video of it which you can watch below, enjoy!

Eh, I agree with you. I like Bill, we go back to Armchair arcade, some podcasts etc, known him a long time, he definitely has always been more of a "glass half full" type. We have had pleasant exchanges and I would like to think even a friendship and have been supportive of each others endeavours so I never align myself when someone over on AA that straight up calls him nothing more than a shill for AtGames but THAT SAID, I have cut Bill a lot of slack in past, as well, and like you, challenged some ideas BUT lately, yeah I am finding his association with AtGames is definitely imho causing him to lose some objectivity and perhaps with that some credibility.
I believe he means to be honest and when pressed I would say he is a good well meaning person but he does seem defensive to a fault where AtGames is concerned. And I agree, the "Causal audience" excuse does not hold water for me anymore, it seems to be the card AtGames often plays whenever they just don't want to admit to the crap quality or have a real excuse for the product shortcomings. Like you say, when AtGames is sending product to Gaming Youtubers for review and giving info to articles etc they cannot then go claiming their product is for the impulse casual gamer the moment they are questioned or called out, and even so that is NOT a good excuse for shoddy product or business practices. To suggest that Atgames does anything more than release (and re-release) the cheapest low end barely satisfactory experience to make the most profit cashing in on nostalgia is just silly at this point. That is exactly the AtGames strategy and on some level I wish they would just own up to it.

About damn time, if you ask me. I made the mistake of getting an ATGames Genesis console. From what I later learned, the sound quality is completely screwed up.

Goodwill was good to me today! This is now my cleanest super Nintendo. Still need to clean it a little more for it to be perfect.

5 Goodwills?!
There are only like 3 near me. The others are in neighboring towns and would be 30min drives separately to visit. Even then, they haven't had anything good in several years as they were instructed some time ago to send most of the video game stuff to corp to be placed on the auction site.
In fact I would say that at least half of the thrift stores we used to have are now closed up and those buildings are different businesses completely in the past 3 or 4 years now.
We have a decent flea market each weekend, but those vendors look up the value of the stuff and still think they can get ebay pricing for it. Sad thing is that some people must be buying the items or else they wouldn't continue to keep them priced that way.

It's always exciting to find the PS1 games mixed in with the CD's at Goodwill.

Here she is all cleaned up and put back together. I also got a close-up of the damage above the controller port that probably broke the trace.
Both controllers work perfectly, but one is missing the plastic pad. How the heck does that happen??? I need to keep my eye out for a donor controller.
