  1. Recovering from oral surgery & playing 90s "B" and "C" list platformers in between icing my face.

Rayman, Bug!, Clockwork Knight, Gex, Busy & Zool are all getting some playtime.  What are some of your favorite second and third tier platform games?

I loved Gex on 3DO, Rayman on Atari Jaguar, and Clockwork Knight on Sega Saturn. I always thought Clockwork Knight had a lot of potential for Sega to do more with it. Knights was amazing.

I hope your surgery went well! 🦷

  2. Annex 002 is up with my impressions on Rikki & Vikki for the Atari 7800!  Who else owns this terrific game?

  3. Anyone have an Arcade1up machine? Wondering about their build quality?

In my experience they have been pretty cheap. They might survive okay in the corner of a collector's room but kids would tear those controls apart. For the same amount of money it's possible to find a real arcade machine with solid controls that you can do whatever you want with.

  4. I almost beat Blue Lightning for Jaguar CD in a single sitting.  As it happened, I lost my last plane crashing into an iceberg - pilot error.  I'll never understand why that game gets so much hate.  For me, it looks and plays as well as Total Eclipse/Solar Eclipse on 3DO/Saturn and other games like that.  Also, can we talk about the ripping heavy/hard rock soundtrack?  Its not a very deep game but its a great way to blow through a couple of hours.

  5. Looking at motorcycles to complete the midlife crisis look. 😂😂😂

Yes! Just this past weekend I got a 2019 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401!

I'm new to riding and just got my M1 in August.  Taking my time with it in the early mornings before traffic and in lots after work. Hope to be using it as my main transportation in the next month or so.

Oh sweet!! Congratulations! Total blast to ride, really glad to hear you got something! And shit, that's nice!

  6. Every year or so I bust Rayman out to see if I get any better. It's probably the strongest 3rd party title on the Jaguar and arguably the best version of the game. Wish me luck!

Looks like it's 100 percent compatible on Phoenix and Virtual Jaguar so hoping people will participate.  I'm really looking forward to SainT's SD cart.  That will make Jag gaming much more accessible!

I completely agree! I'm interested to see if it creates a lot more interest in the Jaguar

RE: Rayman, I realize playing it now that it doesn't really have a score, per se. We would have to do something creative like percent complete without continues.

For raw scores, Tempest 2K, Defender 2K, Missile Command 3D, Zero5 and Raiden would be good. Also, the GOOD racing games for best times/time trial.

  7. Happy St. Patrick's Day atari.io!

Unsurprisingly, this is my only green shirt. ☘️☘️☘️

  8. What do you think of World Tour Racing on the Jaguar?  Never played it?  Well, it ain't no Checkered Flag. Check out my first blog post since 2017 to share your thoughts or learn more!

Be sure to check out the fancy new blogs! Now you can add big header images, have more freedom to format the pages better, and I like how all of the blogs are presented on the main blog page too. I hope you like it!

      He went too young.

Here's the thing about Harry Anderson. He was funny in a very sweet and kind way. Not an ounce of meanness in his public persona. And that's a rarity. Especially in comedy.

I grew up watching Night Court. Always liked Harry. Sad to hear another good one gone.

      I'm so sad he's gone.

  10. There is nothing like getting a new game, sticking the Bluray into the slot and then waiting 40 minutes for the most recent patches. The joy of modern gaming.

      Ain't that the truth.

There's also that moment when you are informed that your hard drive is full. WTF.

I hear XBOX One consoles can take a couple of days from the first time they are turned on until the user can actually play a game setting itself up and installing any updates.

Having DLCs on physical disc doesn't help either. Wife and I bought the Borderlands Triple Pack which contained all DLC for all three games on discs. Took all night to install those so we had to wait a day to play a game. Yep...cart games have their advantages sometimes.

  11. Playing World Tour Racing for Jaguar CD this morning. While it is generally better than Checkered Flag, I can't help but think it would have worked better as a 2D super scaler.

Nice review atarilbc! I remember the first time reading that "Super Burnout" was coming out for the Jaguar, I misread it as "Super Breakout" and thought.. wow, really? :)

  12. When did eBay sellers start adding "Launch Edition" to every loose console listing? Here's a white "launch edition" Wii. Look at that gray "launch edition" Jaguar. How about a yellowing "launch edition" SNES? Gimme a flippin' break.

It's because that is how eBay has renamed them in their database. It's eBay, not the sellers.

  13. I enter my 4th decade this weekend. That's right, the big Four-O. I guess I should spend it playing my favorite console from 1977. ;)

Thanks, Justin! I'm glad you liked it. I'm going to try to post more regularly moving forward. There are a lot of Jaguar games yet to go through!

  15. There is a thread on AA stating the Keith Robinson of Intellivision has passed. I haven't been able to find a news account to verify. If true, this marks the passing of a retro gaming legend and a very nice guy. Here's the discussion: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/266706-keith-robinson-passed-away/?do=findComment&comment=3784483
