Using the Modern Controller, rotation is controlled with the thumbstick, thrust is the right trigger, fire is "A" and hyperspace is the "Y". The Classic Joystick provides some true retro flare by using built-in paddle function to rotate your craft! I find that I'm getting my best scores using the Classic. What's your preferred way to play?
  4. Release Date: 12/14/2021 Retail: $9.99 Developer(s): Adamvision & Sneaky Box Publisher: Atari Official Site: https://recharged.atari.com/ Synopsis : "The original space shooter warps to the modern era! Asteroids: Recharged has been reimagined for modern gameplay, with vibrant visuals, powerful new abilities, and another original soundtrack from award-winning video game composer Megan McDuffee. It is fitting that Asteroids is in the first wave of titles to be Recharged. Asteroids is indisputably one of the most influential video games created during the formative years of the modern video game industry. It became the highest grossing arcade cabinet when it was released in 1980, and a year later quickly established itself as the top-selling space game and top-selling shooter on the Atari 2600. You will find it in the top ten on countless “best videogames” lists. Asteroids: Recharged creates a familiar, but revitalized and modern challenge to both old school and new high score chasers. And 40 unique and creative challenge levels take the space shooting game play into new territory, complete with local and global leaderboards. An entirely new collection of power-ups — including spread shots, rail guns, reflector shields, and more — help players stave off splintering asteroids and aggressive UFOs. Co-op play lets you play with a friend, and ramps up the intensity as players do their best to coordinate and survive."
  5. Welcome to the official topic for Asteroids: Recharged
  6. One of the things that I’ve enjoyed most about the Atari VCS is that the relatively small library with its focus on curated indie games has led me to play titles I might have otherwise ignored. These games are often lost in the noise on large platforms and ecosystems. JetBoard Joust is one of these titles. I enjoyed the game so much that I named it my personal choice for 2021 GOTY! Jetboard Joust takes the familiar Defender formula and successfully layers on modern gaming elements, combined with a distinctive art style and frenetic action to create a sublime arcade experience. What do you think of Jetboard Joust?
  7. Release Date: 5/18/2021 Retail: $9.99 Developer(s): BitBull Ltd. Publisher: Freedom Games Official Site: Jetboard Joust Synopsis : "Fast & fluid arcade-style SHMUP meets hardcore modern roguelike! Take flight on a lethal, pimped-up jetboard, darting through the skies and blasting alien invaders with an explosive arsenal of extreme weaponry. Face off against massive, multi-stage bosses. An arcade classic for the next generation!"
  8. The first of Atari's Recharged series, Missile Command: Recharged effectively set the stage for things to come. It takes the basic premise of the arcade original, adds power-ups, a future-retro aesthetic and an endless arcade loop. That said, it isn't quite as full featured, lacking the challenges, co-op mode, leaderboards and controller options of the later Recharged titles. What do you think of Missile Command: Recharged as an homage to the original? Where does it stand in the Recharged series? How does it rank among other updates and re-imaginings of Dave Theurer's classic?
  9. Release Date: December 2020 (VCS) Retail: $3.99 Developer(s): Adamvision Publisher: Atari Official Site: https://recharged.atari.com/ Synopsis : "In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original, Missile Command: Recharged™ is a reimagining of the beloved Atari arcade classic. Launch counter-missiles to protect your base and target powerups to gain an edge at critical moments. Built from the ground up for modern devices, Missile Command: Recharged features accessible gameplay and an addictive, classic, high-score-chasing loop that reinvigorates the storied IP. The title will appeal to those that fondly remember playing the original or its many iterations, and a whole new generation of mobile gamers that are looking for fast-paced, pick-up-and play, arcade goodness."

  17. My most recent DC pickup: Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage! I had this game back in the day and was glad to get it again. This is pure hack and slash. There's a story too if you like cutscenes.
  18. Does anyone else think the in-game color scheme used in Atari's new Breakout: Recharged has a vaguely Jinks vibe?!

I didn't pick up on that until you pointed it out but I see it. I don't know if Atari has the rights to Jinks, but that game has a lot of potential if they can make it right. "A Paddle Platformer" where the paddle is like Mario, moving through a side-scrolling world with endless beautiful levels to explore. Admittedly, 7800 Jinks is unique in some ways and lacking in others. Maybe Jinks: Recharged could fulfill this side scrolling paddle potential

Very much so.  Now that you've pointed it out, that's all I see!
