Had an awesome time with Raskull and ShotgunSean on That Gaming Show last night. Talked about the Circus Interstellar coming to the VCS, showed gameplay using the classic atari gamepad, watched some old alpha footage we found in the depths of our computer, and of course shooting the %!#$& over some cold brewski. 😉

Circus Interstellar is really coming along, I think fans of the original Berzerk will really appreciate a modern take on the classic that doesn't lose the magic we all enjoyed from the OG. We are getting close to the deadline we've given ourselves to hand off the game to Atari for testing, after we square away any feedback we receive from them we will be announcing an official release date. Don't worry, the circus will be invading your VCS soon... 🤡

YES!  This is a great one.  For whatever reason, I always thought Moon Patrol was an Atari game.  But nope.  Irem.  It is still a lot of fun!

I hear ya @RickR. If I already had the original handheld, the EXP would be a hard sell for me too.
As far as cartridges go, I'll probably go with the Irem arcade collection for some Moon Patrol action. I haven't played the arcade version since like forever. The last version I played was on the 5200.

NICE collection!  Let me know what you are going to open and try next.  Maybe we can do another "Let's All Play" with whatever you choose.  Even if it's the Data East collection you've already started.
I've been going back and forth on whether to get an EXP.  While I would like the ability to update my games, I find it wasteful to not simply enjoy the original Evercade handheld that I have.

Late to the party! I had been going back and forth on getting one, and when I decided to buy one, the EXP was out of stock everywhere during the holiday season. Short thereafter, I got an email from Funstock that they had a limited number of EXP Limited Edition available. I jumped at the chance and ordered it from across the Pond. I did a quick research and ordered a bunch of games and then ordered some more.
As far as accessories go, I had to have a glass screen protector. I could only find the official one released by Blaze, so I went with that. I read that the Sony PSP has the same screen size as the EXP, but I couldn't find any tempered glass screen protectors for the PSP.
Finally, when a friend heard that I was thinking about getting an Evercade, she gave me a dust cover during Christmas.
So far, I've only opened the DataEast Arcade Collection to play Burger Time. I want to explore a few more games on the cartridge before moving on to a different cartridge. I love Tate mode.
PS: I didn't realize I put the EXP upside down when I took the photo 😂 Sorry about that.

I'm going to call this gaming related.  Official Atari Network merch! I guess Atari put the kibosh on @7800 Pro Gamer soon after the merch was released, so this is already a Collector's item.

Hopefully not much longer!  My order was on 7/19 I think...so I'm not sure what the order of shipments really is.

Lucky! I'm still waiting for mine (6/22/23). I should have got Star Castle too. Had I known Champ Games would produce their own games it would definitely have been in my order. Oh well.

These are two of the best. No doubt about it. Always liked the homage to the Haynes car manuals by the Draconian manual.

Btw, Haynes has nothing on the Draconian manual. Make sure to read it. Some of the verbiage is pretty funny.😄

Draconian is probably my favorite homebrew so far.  Astoundingly good.  I love the speech.  It's easy to find a difficulty level that I can deal with, plus it ramps up very fairly.
Star Castle is also really good, but boy is it difficult.

I recommend playing Star Castle with a Starplex controller if you have or can purchase one. It’s my go-to for this game, Asteroids and any side-to-side shooter like Space Invaders. I have several in my collection, but this loose one was my first purchase ~2008 and still works as designed to this day.

Oooh, good idea.  I hadn't thought of that.  I have a Retrogameboys button controller for Asteroids.  I'll try that.  Thanks.

My latest big box game from Avalon Hills for the Atari 400/800. I think I have six or seven of them now. This one represents the time that many of us grew up in -- the 80s and the Cold War. There were frequent news headlines and stories about the possibility of nuclear war and the aftermath (anyone watch the The Day After?), and that was going to be the end of humanity. Now, it's all about global warming and climate change.
Anyways, back to the game -- it's in great physical condition and came with all the inserts in addition to the manual and map.

    AtariAge order finally arrived!

I like to imagine what would have happened if these two had been released by Atari back in the day.  I think we all would have lost our collective minds.

I'm sorry to hijack this thread for a non-VCS reason, but I have a quick update on my old laptop.  It does NOT meet the minimum requirements for graphics adapter for ChimeraOS.  I think this speaks pretty well for the VCS hardware though.
I've moved on to trying "Batocera", another linux based gaming OS, instead.  It installed just fine and works pretty well so far.  I need to add more ROMS and that looks pretty easy to do.  It will be interesting to see which console this old laptop maxes out at.  I actually think a Raspberry Pi is more powerful than this computer.  However, this has a nice screen, keyboard, and touchpad built in, so it may be a perfect retro gaming station for really old games.
What is really cool is that everything just worked upon initial install.  Wifi, video, etc.  No fiddling necessary other than putting in a wifi password.

Here it is on the VCS after all! I guess that's the benefit of it doubling as a mini-PC.

Damn, @Sabertooth!  You gave me the info I needed for a really crappy old Windows laptop that I've been wondering what to do with.  It's a beauty cosmetically, but it has a really BAD AMD E-300 CPU that can't even run Solitaire at 30fps.

I'm going to try putting ChimeraOS on there.

You touched on something very important here. If and when that day comes and Atari offers zero support, we need to find new and innovative ways of keeping the VCS humming along for decades into the future. That can and will be done, and Club VCS will be at the epicenter of the innovation I’m sure.

I've no stake in this since I do not have VCS however, of course, I follow everything Atari and have followed the entire history of the Atari VCS release including all of the plus and minuses of the platform. I always thought I wanted to be prepared just in case I ever end up with one. Windows on an external drive or perhaps some other OS is a nice option many seem to have tried, of course, Chimera Linux is an excellent choice with it being a great alternative with Valve dragging its feet on releasing an official PC version of Steam OS. An excellent idea and as you have already confirmed seems to work well. Thanks for sharing.
