  1. Its possible. Plays fine an NTSC system. I'm going to take a guess...the Japanese game shown in Max's post is either Puyo Puyo or Phantasy Star 2. Girl throws it off. Japs always did draw cute characters.
  2. It's possible. It could be a PAL version with code for more than one region. It doesn't play any different on an NTSC system. Pretty cool to have, though. I really dig the Japanese style of the carts, though. Most of their system carts have details that make them stand out and unique. I also prefer the FC game carts over what we got. At least they came in multiple colors and styles instead of the same old boring gray carts.
  3. Unfortunately no. I don't own a WiiU or Switch. But as soon as I get either one this will be the first game I plan on getting. Do they make it for the Wii?
  4. I do have Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for the MD which plays fine on my Genesis Model 1 unit. Strangely, the cart is the same shape as the US carts.
  5. My first Genesis experience was from a rental unit on the way home from another town. When we returned it Mom got me a Genesis from the same place for my birthday. I was still in high school. I think 10th grade. May have been 11th. Can't remember any more. First games I played was Sonic The Hedgehog and Star Control. I then rented Phantasy Star III and became a Genesis fan since. Well rounded console with lots of good games. Got shovelware close to the end of its production run, though.
  6. I know that they are all 2600 games, but the black and silver label I have always associated with the wood-grain models while the red labels I always associated with the Junior model. To me it just seems "odd" to play a red-labeled game on a wood grain unit. The silver-label games look like they go with either one but seem to fit the style of Junior better. Just my opinions.
  7. Mine does have an issue and I replaced the LED as the original one was getting weak. The TV TYPE and POWER switches on mine are worn making it difficult to use either. The POWER switch is missing that "CLICK" feeling while the TV TYPE switch feels like it wants to break when it does click. The latter also requires a bit of force to get it to click. I have plans to replace them as the Junior is proof that fun can come in small packages. Here's a pic of what the power light looks like now:
  8. Here's mine. The red portion of the rainbow on mine has turned orange and fading more. So be careful if you clean your Junior with any kind of cleaner. And when it is not being used it sits comfortably on top of my 360 game collection. If you watch some of my YT videos you might see it sitting behind me in the same spot.
  9. The only specs different are in colors produced and the RF circuitry. Instead of having a premade modulator Junior has the modulator circuits on the motherboard. Doing so gives it a slightly better signal. Junior also gives richer color tones compared to the original...at least mine does. Love the little guy!
  10. My first paycheck was spent on a JR model and a few games. That was the first console I bought with my own money. I still wish I could remember what happened to it. I have another one now. Not a bad console and its small size does allow me to store it easier when not in use (the thing literally sits on top of my 360 collection!). Any time I see a red label 2600 game I immediately think of Junior. Cool little console.
  11. The only thing I have dupes of is an N64 console with power supply, no controller. It's been cleaned but missing the memory expansion cover. But...if anyone has anything for SuperNES I would be interested. I was given a console without anything. No controllers, adapter, nothing. Would like to get it up and running.
  12. I tried but didn't make it in time. I did play, though. I never blamed any specific game for the game crash. As mentioned, it was a flood of poor quality games no one wanted. And all that 2600's Pac-Man did was show that Atari wasn't paying attention to the market. Pac-Man wasn't a bad game to its defense but at the same time it wasn't what the public expected from the largest game maker at the time. However, there were worse games than Pac-Man on the 2600...with it having a popular name it just got the spotlight more.
  13. Yep....it's Easter, April Fool's, and we got snow. Someone fooled someone.
  14. Anyone here good with styling? I tried working with is not striking a chord, so to speak. Something I was trying to do was something like: Kamakazi's========= Atari Day Retro Gaming Extravaganza ============Monthly But it was simply not working for me. The more I worked with it the more I was getting frustrated LOL. I will try again but if someone wants to help I'm open for it. I just don't have any money to give for the help. I'm not doing this for money anyway...just part of the gaming hobby. I like how Arena did a rainbow "Extravaganza"...that I like. I'm just not getting anything else to click.
  15. I like the name...I just hope it doesn't give off the vibe that the video is ONLY going to contain Atari content.
  16. Hmm...I like both. This isn't going to be easy, is it? Atari Day Retro Gaming Extravaganza Monthly. I think I can work with that. I will wait and see if any other members respond. I just hope its not too big to style graphically. Which reminds me. Justin...oh Justin...how did you get the close ups of video game screen shots for one of the Atari I/O videos you made?
  17. I am asking for advice as I can't come up with a good name for what I have in mind. I don't want the idea I have in mind taken away from me but I will give a bit of what I am going to do on my YT channel. Instead of trying to do something weekly or bi-weekly I am only going to post one video a month. The release date planned for each video will be on Atari Day, the 26th of every month. While the video will include Atari-related material I also don't want to limit myself to just Atari stuff, I would want to include other brands of consoles, computers, and games as well because, well, once I ran out of Atari stuff I would run out of material. I'm going to be making videos when time allows. These could be Let's Play, Repairs, Recent Pick-Ups, Cleaning, How-To, News, and more all rolled into a 30 minute video that will play more like a variety show. Not all would be in the same video but mixed up and depending on what all I can do and what all information I can find and use. I guess you could call it a video-magazine since the idea of a magazine's layout sort of brought about the idea. With that being said the series would need a name. So, yea, my channel is being changed yet again as is some of its content. I hope this takes off but I'm not doing it for any monetary gain...strictly for the love of video games as a whole regardless of what brand system or genre of game, but I will try to keep it PG at least. Any name ideas? I thought about using "Video Gaming Monthly" but not sure if I like the sound of it. I just hope the video idea sounds interesting. I know Atari I/O has the best of the best so I am curious about feedback and what all you guys come up with. On a side note: I have not forgot about the 5200 games members picked for a top 10 list. I just haven't had time to put it together yet. Working on it and few other subjects for the pilot episode. I need a new opening, too, but I don't know how to do that so I may just stick with something simple. First episode to premier April or May 26th with episodes appearing on the 26th of every month after that. Thanks in advance for your help.
  18. My channel is going to be getting videos once a month. I have finally found a theme I don't think anyone has done yet. Video release date will be the 26th of every month. Yep...I am starting a video-zine. It would be easier for me to do at this time than trying to come up with something weekly which I don't have time for now.
  19. Seeing the purple controller makes me miss the Saturn.
  20. I would have never thought of it being a PS2 controller because I seen the white and it looked more like a PSOne controller to me. Pretty cool and makes sense to me now. I dig those Saturn controllers. Maybe Sega had to do something with left over stock?
  21. One thing I noticed was the Sega PS controller has no cords. I wonder if it was wireless? I love the odd stuff too and am somewhat envious of what Japan got the we didn't. I would like a 3DO but the flip-top model as that was the one I tried at Game X Change and liked. Plays Road Rash really well!
  22. Yep. It makes sense when an animal has been in an abusive home previously. But as far as I am aware, other than the home she was in while being reared, we are her first and only owners. We have had her taken to a few groomers who we think might have been hard on her. We can't hardly groom her now without her trying to nip us. We have been working with her a little at a time and she is getting better at letting us get the matted hairs she gets. Baths are usually not a problem but I can't use animal shampoo on her as all the brands we've tried leave sores on her. I have to use gentle shampoo for humans. She also eats pretty much what is left on our plates that is puppy-safe because we no longer trust what is put in dog food. So, Kenny may be 10 years old but he looks healthy, happy, and will most likely show his new owners just how smart he really is. He will also most likely be very active as age doesn't seem to slow them down. They love to swag and I've found putting a small squeaky toy inside an old sock (make sure you will not want it back) works very well. Christmas would destroy her toys if I did not do that as she has killed many of them in just a few hours. As for the J.R., there's not a squeaky toy around that can survive those. My Lil' Daisy dog I had before would kill those within a few minutes. Bought her 10 one time for a $1 each at a Dollar General. All 10 were dead and shredded before the day was over. And I was giving them to her one at a time. Small dogs are so cool. Did I mention small dogs also hog the bed?
  23. Her name is Christmas. She actually named herself. When we got her we tried every name we could think of. We were watching a movie called "A Dog Named Christmas" about an autistic person wanting to foster a shelter dog for the Christmas holiday. When the boy called the dog's name in the movie our dog came a running and looked at the TV. "Did she just answer to the boy on TV?", my wife asked. "I think so.", I replied. So we both said, "Christmas", and she turned her head our way. She's a very smart dog, trained herself to be in tune with my wife's diabetes, when she chokes, has panic attacks, and other things. She will bark until someone comes to help my wife when she needs it. She has literally dug into my backside to get me up when my wife needed me while we were sleeping. If the fire alarm goes off, our dog is barking like crazy. Storms? Forget it. She's hiding in the closet. If I leave the apartment to check the mail or something our dog is OK. If the wife leaves the apartment without our dog it's a different story. Christmas will let out a blood curdling scream (literally) when my wife gets out of Christmas' eyesight. It's kinda funny, really, when we are home Christmas interacts more with me but when we are out and about you can't separate Christmas from my wife without the dog having separation anxiety. So, Christmas has been given rights to go into local stores and the Wal-Mart 3rd shift crew love her. We can't do our monthly grocery shopping without Christmas making her rounds to greet her favorite Wal-Mart employees first. She has favorites. Doesn't take to other men other than one Wal-Mart employee. Any other man who tries to visit with Christmas she does not like and goes on guard. Which I am not sure why. They've never hurt her in any way but something about them she doesn't like.
