  1. It took longer than expected but my channel has been renamed and completely redone. This is the first video on the new redesign. I had compatibility issues between the file type my camera makes and the file types standard Windows 10 video editor and Media Player can use. I finally figured it out and resorted to an older video editor I had laying around.
  2. For decades now mankind has been trying to see if we could populate Mars. Mars use to have a protective magnetic field like Earth but not as strong. It is thought that solar flares simply blew the field off of Mars, thus causing the planet to lose whatever atmosphere it had and turned it into a "dead" planet. To see what that new rover is seeing (and hearing, too!) is something I'm very grateful to get to experience during my lifetime. If we were to send humans to Mars, though, we'd have to wait until Earth and Mars are at their closest. If we did that a trip from Earth to Mars would take 6 months.
  3. And when you're done with that try these guys. I like 'em.
  4. Check out Babymetal (correctly pronounced "bey b metal" a play on hea vy metal). Here...I'll get you started: When you are done listening to that...try listening to "The One", "Road to Resistance", "Distortion", and then try this... The band in the first video was fake playing but it's still an awesome song. The band in the other songs I suggested and with them performing with Rob Halford of Iron Maiden is their real band and they are sick! That drummer is awesome as was the rest of the members. I especially loved their lead guitarist.
  5. Not surprising...it seems 5 systems have tied for best console (or consoles) of all time. And each were the best for their era. It's not hard to declare the 2600 a winner here as it was the first successful cartridge based home console with lots of titles that are just too good to forget about. The NES rekindled that spark back into video games bringing lots of new ideas and concepts to the table that simply worked well. Granted Nintendo had ill practices toward third-party developers but it did help to avoid another flood of titles that could have caused another crash. Unlike the 2600 I lost a lot of teenage years to the NES always trying to beat the latest popular title. Tons of memorable games here from Mario to Mega Man to Samus to the Vic Viper...all of them kept us in some form glued to the TV set with controllers that could not be pried from our hands. The Sega Genesis and SNES both deserve the title as well in the 16-bit era as both had exclusives to offer. This is one time where two competitive companies actually benefited from each other. It's also the first time Sega finally got a mascot...Sonic. Other Sega games included the Streets of Rage series, Phantasy Star series, and lots of arcade-style games that were simply fun to pick up and play. The SNES on the other hand had lots of games that took advantage of its graphical power. Memorable games include Super Mario World, F-Zero, Gradius III, and, yes, even SimCity. SimCity on this console added lots of extras including season changes, music, and 999 different maps to choose from. For those that enjoyed this simulation it was hard to put down. My personal favorite? F-Zero. Both systems I believe were equally matched then and that remains the same today. The OG Playstation and PlayStation 2 consoles I can understand owning best console of all-time. PlayStation just simply took off practically overnight. And once games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy 7, and Gran Turismo made it to the plate owning a PlayStation was a no brainer. Then the PS2 came out, killed off the Dreamcast, and expanded on franchises the original PlayStation was known for. I also believe the PS2 was the first console to be the center of attention that spawned a lot crimes from people stealing and even killing for one. It was bad no matter how you looked at it. In my eyes all of them should share the best console of all-time spot because each made a huge difference in their era of video games and they all are remembered for something.
  6. I only have about 10 titles for my LD player. I love the thing. Then again I love all old analog equipment...VHS, LD, early DVD players...things like that. I have TI but only have three games. I don't use it too often because of the same reasons @RickR and @CrossBow have mentioned...space. I'm not out of space but I would rather give all of my computers their space to be permanently setup and ready for use instead of having to set them up every time I want to play them. It's simply too hard on the machines to keep doing that, not to mention some of those machines are not exactly easy to come by should something go wrong setting them up and taking them down all the time. It's not that I don't like the TI but I don't have any past with one either. Not enough to warrant dragging it out all the time.
  7. I don't know what it is about this little console. I enjoy playing games on this system, that I know I have and play on the NES we got in America, a bit more. For some reason I find this little guy more appealing...even with crippled controllers which, by the way, is being taken care of soon. So far the only thing about it that is a bit uncomfortable is the controller cords. Their locations exiting the controllers takes some getting use to. Dr. Mario I got burned out on with the NES...for some reason I'm not getting burned out with it yet on this little guy...and it's the SAME GAME! Nothing different. I have taken it apart and cleaned it and was actually impressed with the circuit board design. It's really small. They could have used this design to make the first GameBoy with color without changing much and it would have worked. It's really tiny. Very impressive.
  8. Something arrived today from JapanPost... The game and system work. However I have to replace the pads inside both controllers. These are pretty much shot. I managed to get a controller together enough to enjoy it for a while. It should hold over until I can get those new pads. This machine is going to be fun to play on. I especially like the size of the carts. Really small compared to the large gray things we got.
  9. Man. I've got to invest in a TG-16 again. I never knew it got games like this. Was this game on the PC Engine as well?
  10. Platform: PC, SNES, PlayStation Made by Origin Has Star Wars Famous Actor Feline Enemies Good Luck!!
  11. NES Search Planets for Help Very much like Star Raiders Save Your Mothership
  12. My first time doing one of these so here goes... NES/Famicom A pill to cure ills Viruses Everywhere The Doctor is in
  13. I'm going to try although I might not be any good at this. Is it Sewer Shark?
  14. SO sad. I remember when Radio Shack had a large catalog that was the electronic version of the Sears' Wish Book. Every component you could think of and never knew existed was in that catalog. I used it often when I lived with/took care of my grandmother. I had a small workshop I fixed electronics in and that book was my go-to book to find parts I would not have found otherwise. I wish they were still around. It is also sad how times have changed. Tinkering with electronics was once a hobby and some great inventions came from those hobbies. Now if someone does that it's hard not to worry if they are planning an attack somewhere.
  15. Yea. YouTube has been going through some revisions...again. I kept getting copyright claims on a few of my videos that had no music. That's one of the reasons why I'm revamping my channel. I love the Famicom I got, just no games for it yet. I like the Japanese revision of the NES better than what we got. It just looks cuter.
  16. This would be my problem. Well that and I don't have a Switch yet. I'd kill someone trying to do that here. I'd have to be careful as well. I tried Sports Champions for PS3 and loved that game. Especially the disc golf and there was a one-on-one fighting game that I liked but I overdid it and started having chest pains. So, yea, I don't try to do very many video games that require exercising too much. But that game does look like a lot of fun. I'm more like these guys...
  17. OK. I was reading all the posts but learned something new about this game. For as long as I've played this game I've never seen massive machine in it. Does this game actually have a boss-like enemy I don't know about?
  18. I've watched lots of YouTube videos on these from best starter set games to repairs. Even though those videos said it was small pictures do not do these machines justice. They are a LOT smaller than those videos try to show. It could easily be a hand held system. It doesn't seem to weigh much more than a GBA. In all honesty, I believe the original GameBoy probably weighs more than the Famicom. Then again its small size makes sense. Japanese families usually have houses with small rooms compared to most American homes. The Famicom's small size, and the small carts, would make it easy to collect for without taking up much space. I've already got a power supply for it when I got a 3rd party 3-in-1 adapter for the Super NES. It will power the Famicom as well. Specs on the power supply are perfect for it. I may borrow the pads out of my regular NES controllers for a bit to test this thing out when a game arrives to test it. I don't play the NES much any way only because the types of games I enjoy playing on the NES I don't have (Life Force, Gradius, Destination Earthstar, Stinger). And I plan to get a LOT of the 2D shoot 'em ups for the Famicom that we (Western world) did and did not get. This is going to be a learning experience that I am looking forward to. Maybe it will also help me get my passion for gaming back as I've seemed to have lost some of it for some reason. I love the games I have but when I go look at what I have trying to find something to play I just give up. Almost like I have no ambition to play them. So I am hoping this new addition will help me find my gaming passion again. I can't wait to play something on it even if it is a Mario game. Oh...and Galaxian! They got Galaxian! Why didn't we get it? So now that I have a new console from across the pond, and I believe a few here also own one, I'm going to ask and see what all pops up. Games! It's all about the games. Those that are familiar with the system I'd like to know what games you enjoy playing on it. I know it has Salamander (aka Life Force), Gradius, and Gradius II...games that are on my radar. I also learned that Blaster Master was released in Japan as Meta Fight and a much nicer looking Title and Start screens. What else is there? Only rule: I don't read Japanese, yet, so anything that doesn't require a whole lot of translations would be appreciated. So, list of games for the Famicom, and...GO!
  19. My wife and I have added a new family member to our gaming family. Welcome to your new American home little guy. No games yet and I have to replace all the pads inside of both controllers. Those have literally dry rotted.
  20. THAT'S the only game those paddles were designed for 😛
